  1. well it's one thing to sell on an away ticket for face value to a fellow villa fan when the worst case scenario is that you receive a 3 game ban (as was the case this season). it's a whole other kettle of fish when there's a threat of villa wiping your entire booking history if you get caught. it's a deterrant, simple as that.
  2. strongly disagree. he was the one player that consistently performed well under gerrard. he was doing great long before emery came in and it's doing mings a great diservice that emery has 'fixed' him. the mistakes were myths and the stats back that up. emery has helped take his game to another level, no doubt about that, but people forget that he was earning regular england caps long before emery took over
  3. would you not want the same if we won it? or you'd rather a handful of morons were given airtime? "blowing bubbles up their arse" is a weird comment...do you not feel it was refreshing to hear media hailing the sucess of a team outside the scum 6? if that's us next year, they'll be interviewing mcginn and ramsey and how they've written their names into AVFC history alongside morley and withe, 1982 will be mentioned time and time again and the winning goal will be shown countless times in the build up. like them or not, west ham do have history...would you rather their win was played down? deemed an undercard match for the main event saturday?
  4. to be fair there's a few on here that used to constantly criticise and unfairly attribute goals conceded to ty that have gone quiet...

  6. ok mate, you've made your point. you've said it countless times. some of us are excited about it. we've not won anything in nearly 30 years..i'll be going just as mad as this lot if we win it
  7. Probably the most suitable thread rather than starting a new one https://www.myoldmansaid.com/potential-changes-for-aston-villa-away-ticket-allocation-and-fan-loyalty/ This part stuck out to me. Seems they're heavily clamping down on it
  8. a mate of mine has just done it. 3 years working out there, tax free, miles better salary, came home and cleared his mortgage. he's only 40.

  10. sickening seeing the newcastle reaction to it...they're rejoicing in the news of the saudi club signings and how the golf takeover solidifies the PIF as a genuine name in the world of sport. i did see one or 2 getting concerned that their "summer transfer kitty better not end up going to a bunch of golfers"
  11. someone tell them that we have sweden's best goalkeeper that would be a great addition to the league
  12. you say that but then why is rice about to join bayern rather than a PL team? or bellingham about to go to real madrid rather than back to his homeland? the european elite clubs are still plenty competitive
  13. i disagree that it's gone...all competitive matches still played in this country, league the same format its been for years, european competitions all still played in europe, FA cup final still at wembley with abide with me pre-kick off with prince william handing over the trophy improvements are required, sure...city need to get properly done for their FFP breaches for example. but it could, and might, get a lot worse
  14. looking at the whole golf merger, it seems to be somewhat of a hostile takeover. "we're buying world golf, like it or not" and the PGA essentially had to go with it when the PIF bought newcastle, we all thought it was just sportswashing...we were wrong. they're thinking much bigger than that. watch out, they're coming for our beautiful game.
  15. i mean, if LIV and PGA can merge, is there anything stopping similar happening with UEFA for the right price? would all 55 members need to agree if such a thing was proposed or just a majority?
  16. same...the first festival i went to post covid and some nothing early in the day band came on and i had a genuine tear in my eye. but my circle pitting and crowd surfing days are long gone. adding to the fact that a mosh pit is becoming quite a target for phone stealers now...
  17. one thing i'd at least respect, is a player to come out and say "look, the financial package was such that my family is finacially secure for generations to come" rather than the BS of how good a league it is
  18. Like it or not, it probably warrants its own thread. they've got ronaldo and benzema. they're about to get zaha and kante. they're trying to get messi. where do we think this is heading? a saudi team in the CL in the future? and something else i dont get...FFP is a FIFA thing right? how are they getting around this with these insane contracts they're giving players?
  19. didnt they offer woods like $1bn or something? i know none of them are starving to death but still but smart a bit but fair play for having morals
  20. are they? i don't think that's happening...i think it's just defending the mud that's being slung at him. no one is doubting that the turnaround this season has been predominantly due to the appointment of emery
  21. this was our bench vs brighton when aside from coutinho we had a fully fit squad. IMO we need 5-6 new players. 1-2 that will go straight into the starting 11 and another 4-5 squad fillers so that we're not filling the bench with kids and rubbish. i guess we may see the likes of tim, AJ, and archer filling some of the 'squad filler' roles buendia - OK carlos - decent traore - shite chambers - OK ish young - gone olsen - uber shite dendonker - OK revan - youth player patterson - youth player
  22. just like many of us find it baffling that despite other senior board members would've had to sign off off on said appointment, 100% of the blame seems to be landed at purslow's door and no one doubts that it's not a valid criticism. it was a shocker. no doubt about that, for which purslow had a big part to play in. not a single one of us who are defending purslow is disputing that. we just find it odd that we're in the best position that we've been in for years and yet we still need to have a villain to complain about and aside from the gerrard appointment, all of the criticism i've seen appears to be totally speculative. you might not be saying he's to blame for everything, but theres a loooooong post a few pages back that pretty much pinned everything that hasn't gone quite right over the last few years on purslow, be it a transfer, managerial appointment or season ticket prices. but anyway...i said i'd keep away from here so i need to stand by that
  23. with respect, i've always hated this argument. we have no idea what inquiries have been made by which clubs about which players. not to mention there have been numerous examples of signings we've made where there was no other reported interest i.e. alex moreno.
  24. whenever we went for the playoffs we parked at sudbury town tube which has a big car park so guess it depends on whether you're driving or getting train to the gig...if driving this is what i'd recommend but it is about 2 miles from the ground if getting tube from central london, i'd just deal with the queues at wembley park/wembley central
