  1. considering all we are going by regarding ancelotti is a poor excuse of a google translator from the ever reliable sky italia think its wrong to say he is ruled out. or maybe im just clutching at straws over the tenner i put on a few hours ago...
  2. has anyone else noticed the similarity between little resigning from leicester, denying interest in managing villa, then signing for us the next day?
  3. of course theyre tapped up. the clubs talk to their agents, the agents talk to the players. but because there are these agents involved acting as middle men it is well within the rules...hence why i am seriously considering turning my back on football.
  4. I think this is exactly the sort of thing we need to do! Either that or instead of going for the usual 4 year deal which lets face it it primarily in the best interests of the player in most cases, why not go for a 4year deal but add on the extra 2 year bit as an option right at the start.. So a 4 year with a 2 year extension in the clubs favour/discretion or if the player is not happy at that point we still activate the 2 year extension but he has the right to leave if the right bid comes in? Something has to break as it is now happening every single season & it is the primary reason we havn't acheived top 4 in my opinion.. absolutely. player and agent power is dominating the game at the moment and its about time someone stood up to it. what my biggest gripe is, is there is no rule regarding clubs speaking to agents about buying players. liverpool or whoever cannot speak to downing directly but they can contact his agent. hes been tapped up...plain and simple and whether it's directly or indirectly doesnt make it any less so. but the worst part about it is that its well within the rules of the game. it may mean losing out on the £20m or so we will get for him but i say stick 2 fingers up at him and his snake of an agent and make him stay for the next 2 years.
  5. anyone know anywhere decent to drink apart from the drayton park outside the away end? you can never get served there and the police generally stop the pub and the off license next door serving once a hint of singing starts
  6. considering we are safe, is there a case for us almost not being bothered with a loss to wigan as it would hurt blues' relegation fight?
  7. great news...we havent sold this one out for a few seasons now
  8. is this the first time this season we have a fully fit side to choose from?
  9. johnson is class but younger than downing and no doubt would have inevitably been snapped up by citeh by now anyway
  10. decent point that...never an easy place to get a result
  11. his debut was vs man u and played a blinder. more completed passes than anderson and carrick combined
  12. cant remember the allocation last time but im sure the prices werent this much. ill still prob go despite the rip off prices. prob is that boycotting the game wont help prices go down but would give rivals an outlet of ridicule to us for not selling out a derby away end
  13. keep him in til the end of the season at least. if he equals or better's o'neill's first season (10th i believe) then keep him in. bottom half is not good enough and would have questions to answer. i still maintain that to sack him now could create more instability, and seal our fate. after all, whatever you think of houllier, who really wants to go back to kmac, who got us knocked out of europe and masterminded the 6-0 defeat at newcastle
  14. think to say that is a bit strong OBE...if we go through then great, but a couple of poor results and we're back in the relegation fight so league should be our priority until we are definatly safe
  15. dont think he was a massive villa fan but i thought he did have a box at VP? anyway, yes geezer butler is a big fan. i mentioned it earlier in the thread that black sabbath would be appropriate for an anthem - more so than ghost riders. you need something to sing along to and ghost riders is just too wordy for that except for the vippie ay ohhhhh part. war pigs is a good choice IMO
  16. 2nd half i found myself looking at that more than the match!! seriously tho, i thought some of the posts on here were a piss take but at a second glance they were actually serious! christ some people here are still living in the 50s where women's place is in the kitchen etc. the comparissons between playing the game and officiating the game couldnt be more wrong. being female doesnt in any way hinder her ability to run the line and from what ive seen of her so far shes done a better job than many of the blokes that do it anyway.
  17. So cameras will be out in force on saturday...first game since the whole skysports saga (i think) Link
  18. to be fair i think the idea of an anthem is that it would get the whole stadium singing, not just the holte/lower north. you wont get the doug ellis and trinity singing the regular songs. not having a go at them, they just choose not to and its their choice. but an anthem would get them joining in too and maybe, just maybe, they would find out they have a singing voice and join in some of the chants during the game too
  19. im not against having an anthem. i just see it as being something that would be very difficult to implement. for most clubs with such anthems, they have been around for years, to the point that i bet very few in the stadium could tell you its origin. they just went to a game as a kid and their dad said 'this is our anthem, sing along'. i just cannot see how you could implement an anthem into an opinionated supporter base. several have been suggested on the thread with many saying 'i prefer this one', 'nah, i prefer this one'...there will just be too many people against whatever song is chosen. in terms of what to use, personally, ghost riders in the sky is too quick and wordy to be used. i love the bells are ringing, but i want that to take off as more of an in-game song than an anthem. IMO it should be something where the artist is connected with birmingham and/or the club. there must be a good ozzy / sabbath tune out there that would be appropriate?! i think one of the members of 5IVE was a villa fan too...
  20. is £18mil too much for darren bent? of course...is it my money? no...is it too much to spend on premiership survival...HELL NO! welcome darren keep us up son and get us back into europe again!
  21. When you phone up on the 19th, say you want 4 and all have attended 3 away games. They tend to check the first accounts history but not the rest so you could get all 4 on the 19th. I've just succesfully got an extra ticket by doing it And im 18, i asked for an u19 ticket to find out the is no such thing, apparently a typo on the OS, and its actually u18 very often this is the case but for my blackpool tickets they checked the history of every ref as i tried to sneak one on a ref that only had 4 aways
  22. he doesnt help his cause much though. if he had bought bannan and albrighton on after 10mins of 2nd half and we had still lost a lot of the blame would have been shifted to the players.
  23. unchanged line up please good to see gyan is a doubt
