  1. i hate that goal of the season is always some 30 yarder that any PL attacker should have in their locker and any PL keeper should save if as you say, they were positioned correctly. the wonderfully worked team goals or individual brilliance never seem get a look in matty cash's 2nd vs burnley for example should be a contender. MOTD didn't even bother to show most of the build up.
  2. enjoying the documentary...interesting how people vented their abuse before social media. at least you had the bottle to (even though it's still wrong) do it to a bloke's face. to actually go through the effort of writing a hate letter, whack a stamp on it and post it, is quite an effort just to say you hate a bloke for getting sent off. now players just get monkey emojis DMed to them personally i was always in the "he's overrated" camp growing up (and got slated for that at school). however, i can't remember what game it was or whether it was for utd or england, he played a game at CM...in basically a CDM role and he was sensational. totally controlling the game, pinging balls all over the place. problem is when a player has that good a cross on them you can't not have them on the wing, but as others have said, couldn't beat a man. and whether he was correct or not in what he said, hoddle's got a lot to answer for. definitely fueled the fire.
  3. fantastic news. we can't get better than him despite what some fans think
  4. and that's the point i'm making. i don't think clubs and fans are open to it.
  5. it most definitely is not still a thing (if it ever was) i'm just sure i heard it used to be a loophole/bug in the early FPL days again, not sure where i even heard it nor if it was true
  6. what threats though? and from whom? it wasn't intended to come across as arrogant, more that the only PL side to successfully create an ultras group is palace and even that's nothing compared with european ones so it just goes to show that the appetite isn't there
  7. thanks as always OBE. would you mind expanding on the below please? it's a pain reassigning your seat and feel that in this day and age it should be possible to do online. and i welcome a facility that's accessible to those who are members of an official lions club so be great if you could elaborate on that too please
  8. how has this happened? do you have examples? i work with a palace fan who wasn't happy that their ultras got tickets for the fa cup final before all other fans and were allowed first pick of which section they sat. that's a valid grievance IMO that just because you make a bit of noise that you're somehow given more rights than other fans i guess each to his own, but the atmosphere doesn't bother me. i'm in the upper holte and when songs start i of course join in, but i don't sit there grumbling when it's not. you'd have never thought we were beating a good side 6-1 last saturday based on the atmosphere but who cares? it was brilliant we don't understand the ultras culture because we don't want to. it looks cool yes, and it's fun to go to stadiums and see/hear something a bit different rather than original terrace bangers such as "chelsea, chelsea, chelsea" but in practice, it's not for us.
  9. a few surprises last night. besiktas losing at home to lugano. zagreb lost to some kosovo minnows. frankfurt lost to a last min winner. lille failed to win in the faroe islands. be nice if a big side or 2 went out
  10. yep, nice to see him...not seen him pictured since his injury and with his socials closed down i don't know if he's been there or not
  11. doesn't change the fact that the shirt pull started outside the box which means no penalty
  12. no, first half we were poor. no endevour whatsoever. 2nd half, totally agree with you.
  13. flippin eck that was hard work...i actually feel for their back 5. the rest of the team were poor but that defence didn't deserve to lose that game. they'll be heartbroken oh well
  14. leicester fans warned us. big error in the scouting department here. they couldn't have been signing him based on last season's displays so it was just hope that he rediscovers prior form

    Smoking Ban

think any potential ship has well and truely sailed on that one with this announcement as the british typically mix it with tobacco. its legalisation works in the US because they don't do that

    Smoking Ban

the UK took c.£10bn in tax revenue last financial year from tobacco. what will they tax to replace that income with? only about a quarter of that is saved from the NHS due to the elimination of tobacco related hospital admissions and deaths they're also targeting the wrong group. it's not like it was 20 years ago. anyone who knows any teenagers will tell you that smoking simply isn't cool anymore...vapes are the thing now. kids aren't behind the bushes or in the bike sheds with a B&H in their mouth like they were when i were a lad (my poor mum got that dreaded phone call from the school cause i got busted!) oh and good old rishi nicking a labour idea...i guess he has someone to blame if this falls flat on its face
  17. ha alexis mac allister has a brother called kevin...how did i not know this
  18. i never tested it but i heard it was a thing...was many years ago and can't even remember where i heard that. was before the days of content creators, twitter etc
  19. somewhat related but wasn't there a bug in the early FPL days where if both your captain and vice captain didn't play, the captain chip defaulted to the player that scored the most points? i think they changed it now that if such an event occurred you basically don't get a captain for that GW
  20. presumably on track - didn't read that thoroughly
  21. just reading up on it. interesting. i see they made a rule that bets over £100 have to be placed over 30 mins before the race. wonder if that rule still exists today?
  22. so i've been playing around on the terminals last couple of days. i'll only be doing single bets anyway. what's interesting is that you can settle your bets via the terminals and just use the winnings to fund daily bets, so you only need to visit the counter to claim what's left over (which will be smaller amounts as i've already used winnings to fund daily activity) therefore theoretically meaning less focus on me. question - anyone know the deadline to settle bets placed in shop? presumably you find a ticket from years ago down the back of the sofa it's no longer valid, but i guess i have weeks rather than days to claim winnings? i ask because if i'm clever i can 'save' a few winning slips for a few days/weeks for when i'm having a losing spell meaning less trips to the counter
