  1. The two points per game is an average though isn't it. We very likely won't get ten points from those 5. We may well do though.
  2. If we finished below Chelsea then that would very likely be about us weakening rather than them improving. They would need to be top 2 standard to overtake us on our current ppg.
  3. We're kind of really about third in terms of points since Emery came in. We are closer to first than 6th is prob a better way of saying it. I completely agree though.
  4. We beat spurs using it. Also, Brighton twice, Chelsea twice, Man U, Newcastle etc. I wouldn't call those teams mid and lower teams.
  5. It doesn't matter, we have added close to 2 goals to our score since we started conceding one.
  6. Those games against man city and Arsenal are going to be huge. I'm thinking high score draws, hoping for wins. Will be great atmospheres either way.
  7. That's fantastic!! Some real recognition for him.
  8. We are 2 points off top. What would beating specific teams have to do with us qualifying for champions league?
  9. Ran the game today. Must be horrible to come up against.
  10. Bbc football "in form Villa beat Fulham" How are we in form in anyway? We lost our previous game. Or do they mean its odd that we are doing so well. Their match of the day site then puts, "Villa unbeaten at home this season" Way to downplay the home form. It was so good that we were unbeaten against Fulham today.
  11. If we go far in Europe youd really want to challenge him and Mcginn to have 20 goal involvements each this season. Him more likely than Mcginn because of pens.
  12. Its great for people that don't actually attend games as it just adds to the drama. A bit like the super league idea, those that actually attend all the games arent given a voice in all this. I really don't want to pay £1k a season to watch Ollie Watkins half heartedly celebrate a winner because the goal is essentially pending until a review is concluded.
  13. A really important late turn around last night. Not just for the context of our conference league group but we had had a pretty poor couple of games output wise before Carlos nodded in. Thankfully the ref awarded us that corner that shouldn't have been. Up until then the last 4 goals scored in our games had been from Alkmaar, Forest (2) and Luton. This should now give us confidence going into Fulham.
  14. I've thought that the Holte atmosphere, and subsequently the grounds atmosphere hasn't been as good since we have had a lot of vocal fans now down in the lower north by the away fans, so since that changed about 15 to 20 years ago. As I think that was a lot of the vocal fans from the holte end that moved. I think there has also been a lot more vocal fans spread further around the ground in recent years, maybe because of cheaper seats, rather than being in the holte end. It's kind of backed up by the fact that all parts of the stadium now sing when the atmosphere is good. When I was a kid and i sat near the tunnel in the lower trinity, I just used to watch and listen to the holte end for songs and atmosphere, as next to no one sang in the trinity back then.
  15. Really good atmosphere in the upper North tonight.
  16. But it's been up to a humans opinion for all of football. Now it's down to technology, it has to be right or wrong. I just didn't think we had such a problem with the decisions being made for all those decades before VAR.
  17. I think ideally we should replicate the home form for the away form. Get the league title wrapped up by early March.
  18. You're not supposed to have this level of scrutiny on decisions in football. It's not a sport that can do that. Completely wrecked the excitement of celebrating goals as they're checking for things that no one has even noticed.
  19. We're how many years into VAR now, it causes about ten times as much controversy, and no one knows what a foul or offside seems to be anymore. This whole farce of not flagging for offside when they think it is offside, just in case. Football as a sport wasn't set up to be 100% correct, that isn't the point of it. We watch it because its full of mistakes. Let the officials make errors too. These delays following goals have ruined it for me.
  20. Just one of those days I think. Nothing was falling for us in the box and everything that did fall was put over or straight at the keeper. In the same way that Martinez saves that 2nd goal 99 times our of 100. The timings of the goal were bad too. I think if we were 1 nil down for much of the second half we would have eventually equalised. That stupid goal a minute into the second half gave us too much to do.
  21. But he received the best opportunity on a plate and his first touch takes him diagonally away from goal. It's not today though is it, its the second straight game he has been substituted at half time. His confident is shot because of how bad he has been. Start him in Europe until his output improves would be my solution.
  22. He's just not good enough for this league right now. He could be took off at half time for the second week running.
  23. Just near enough everything Zaniolo does goes wrong. I really want him to work but his output is so poor.
  24. We're in a title race in exactly the same way we were in a relegation battle every previous season. Or atleast there was apparent justification for the thread.
  25. Im staggered that so many people, but particularly those that work in football, still haven't joined the dots on Villa yet. In terms of where we are in the league now. As if this is all some remarkable coincidence. And some prolonged bounce that has to stop soon, but atleast we'll have enough points to stay up by that point. We're systematically creating a champions league club, and we're not far away from that now. 2 points per game, top people behind the scene, top manager, top goalkeeper, top outfield players etc.
