  1. I’m torn between wanting them to be relegated because, you know….it’s leeds; and wanting them to do well so that the Bielsa wankfest can be put to bed
  2. Gutted he wasn’t picked as the new captain to be honest
  3. False comparison- Cahill was more than ready for our first team. He was better than both Knight and Davies who started ahead of him and fans could see it MON just didn’t like him for some reason. Probably his biggest transfer error while manager
  4. I seriously don’t know why BBC employ him. He’s sort of a journalist but not really (as your example shows) and he’s not really a pundit either, or a half arsed one at best. So he just bumbles along giving vague uninteresting opinions on the occasional football topic and earning 6 figures for the trouble…. ….apart from where he talks about his beloved Everton when his energy levels quadruple that is
  5. I don’t know mate. Personally I can’t get enough of pundits like Ashley Cole and top class insights like England facing a “Hungary side who were hungry”
  6. Watching his post match interview with sky and he keeps talking about not having a full strength side to pick from. I genuinely don’t know what he’s on about? He had his first choice goalkeeper on the bench. He started walker and Reece James and had trippier on the bench. He started stones and brought on maguire. He started Phillips and brought on rice. He started Kane and Saka and brought on mount and Sterling. Who is it that was missing? The only player I can think of as a stretch is that foden wasn’t fully fit but even then he still came on as a sub. baffling interview. Maybe his point is that he chose a starting line up that didn’t include all his best players. But even then that was his choice. He could have picked a near identical team to the euros final if he wanted to
  7. Can people stop wanking over Aaron Ramsdale now? Arguably could have done more on all 4 goals
  8. Is he available? I think he’d fit the number 8 role in gerrard’s system really well
  9. Anybody else terrified he’s gonna get a long term injury in one of these games?
  10. To be fair to him, I think he’s quite an intelligent player which somewhat made up for his technique. That’s the only way you can explain how he scored those important goals- he was good at finding space to finish chances
  11. Memories are so short. We wore it in the legendary come back against Rotherham at the back end of that season where grealish scored this goal (my favourite of his):
  12. Beyond the grealish specific issue, his style of play also hurts those players who he thinks are good at performing that “tactical” role. mount isn’t a bad player, in fact he’s had a great season (with much better stats than jack) and was motm in a CL game against Madrid. But he hasn’t played well for England in months because Southgate gets him to focus exclusively on the defensive part of the game despite being one of the front three. Ditto with Saka who you’d think of as one of the PL’s best young attacking talents but does nothing all game for England because he’s set up in a deep block team. It happens to foden as well when set up in this team not playing grealish is a particular example of southgate’s negativity but it infects all of the alternatives he does choose to play as well
  13. How can you be so dismissive given they’ve got a clear picture of him wearing the shirt already?!
  14. Group F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia they should go through but they’re at the end of the golden generation era. The defence now looks really weak with vertonghen/alderweireld still there and hazard is basically now done at a top level. They wasted their best generation of players by having a bang average manager in charge (Martinez)
  15. On this basis Kane should be dropped since he gives spurs too much hope. Come on, this is a joke- he’s basically saying being the talisman of your club is a bad thing. Messi, Ronaldo, benzema, lewandowski, Haaland, mbappe play in a way that’s not “aligned” with what Southgate wants to do. I think what he’s *trying* to say is that grealish plays better off the ball now because he’s more used to having to work harder for the team. But that’s the way he should phrase it- I.e grealish being a naturally more selfish player who needs to adapt his game- rather than it being about what type of club he plays for and the role he plays
  16. Players like this really piss me off. You’re playing elite level sport at astonishing salaries and you can’t keep yourself in decent shape. Have to say McGinn annoys me in this respect
  17. From the same article: Southgate said: “It’s interesting that last summer I spent the whole summer getting hammered for not picking him, now I’m being told I shouldn’t be picking him, but that’s my world.” yeah- he was in amazing form last year and he’s in bad form this year. It’s not that difficult Gareth:you should pick players based on who’s in form. Shall I say it slower for you?
  18. Agreed- I don’t normally look in on match day threads but the negativity is completely over the top. We’ve largely dominated but are a goal down due to a silly mistake
  19. But he also wants to leave city- tired to last summer and will likely try again this time round
  20. His main hope should be to convert into an 8 and be the long term replacement for Bernardo
  21. I must admit I’d become a bit sceptical about this signing at the previous £33m level with reported astronomical wages- mainly because I think buendia deserves a stint ahead of him. But you simply can’t argue with the fee/cost of this transfer now. Good work by the club
  22. This reminds me of when lots of fans were delighted to see city taken over because it would break the top 4 monopoly. How did that work out for the rest of us?
  23. I’m a massive grealish fan but last night is why they should have bought Kane in the summer rather than him. They lack leaders and players who can produce goals out of nothing when the going is tough (same problem as CL final last year)
  24. Fair. I think I agree that foden is and certainly will be the better player. Though he was less developed last year and arguably level if not behind grealish- a lot of grealish’s performances in the first half of last season outshone foden. I continue to think that grealish is a better overall player than mount though mount is arguably the more intelligent player. But in any case I certainly don’t have anymore resentment about mount being picked over him since, regardless of the claret and blue specs, mount has had a far better season
