  1. Plenty of top managers do this- mourinho and SAF particularly notorious for being touchy in interviews and pep and Klopp do it all the time. You may not like it but it’s not that big a deal
  2. I don’t mind the interview that much- he’s right that the questions were stupid and designed to rile somewhat. But I’m worried about the slouching in his seat when things aren’t going as he’d like. Must send an awful message to the players
  3. He’s much weaker to his right. Conceded too soft goals that side against West Ham at home this season and last. Think there may have been a soft one against Burnley away last season the same side as well?
  4. The irony is that the big moves they were tapped up for basically ruined delph’s and Milner’s international football careers as they went from first team regulars to warming the bench. I’d expect to see the same for grealish in 6-9 months if his form doesn’t improve
  5. He’s looked better off the bench the past couple of times we’ve seen him. I think he suits what gerrard’s after better than what smith wanted- I.e lots of energy and good on the ball albeit not an amazing passer
  6. I think Ramsey is significantly better at this- rarely gives the ball away even in tight spaces
  7. Completely agree. The original poster is right that he’s the best passer of the midfielders but he’s also the worst at playing under pressure. so he’s great on the ball in our half when he’s got all the time in the world but far less useful in tighter spaces where he doesn’t have the pace/agility to make time for himself and gets things wrong as a result. Ramsey and McGinn (more specifically, his arse) are better at operating in tighter spaces
  8. That buendia chance was pretty tricky to be fair. Would have been a very good finish to have scored in that position
  9. True but neither Watkins or Ings played that well. The current one 10 and two 9s set up seems to get a better tune out of them and has a nice balance with Ings as the 9.5 type player i do feel sorry for EMI though because he didn’t warrant dropping based on his performances
  10. I’m still waiting for the classic inside left golazo
  11. It's a small thing but why does he say "i will never forget it" as if that's a big deal? I mean, yeah Jack...you scored the winning goal...for your boyhood team....in a derby....oh, and you were also punched by some nob. I'm glad you're not gonna forget it!
  12. Indeed. But interesting that it didn't work as well when played in just a 2 with Watkins. I suspect its because Che Adams, for all his faults, is a much better link up player than watkins. But putting coutinho as part of that 3 makes all the difference
  13. I respect him by the most of the pre-relegation circling the drain managers (i.e. Mcleish, Sherwood, Garde) not that that's saying much. Had to operate in tight financial constraints and made some decent signings all things considered. There were times where we played decent football and it felt like we might be on the brink of breaking the rot - I think it was the start of his second season after we beat Arsenal away and it looked like we might have a decent year before Benteke got injured against Norwich(?)
  14. Why did they actually pick this guy? His last job was Leipzig and he got fired - what am I missing?
  15. His general hold up play has been much much better the last two games
  16. He's been playing an interesting role the past couple of games. The starting position is alongside watkins up to but he naturally drifts between the lines and sometimes ends up alongside coutinho just behind Watkins. So we end up with Watkins as a clear number 9, Coutinho as a clear number 10, and then Ings as a genuine 9 and a half type player. There's a great balance between the three of them
  17. Surely Leeds will knacker themselves out pressing so high. Easier second half (hope I haven't jinxed it)
  18. Bit extreme - we're leading and comfortably in control?
  19. They should get football tactics writers doing punditry- I.e the Michael Cox/TIFO types- who can actually analyse the game. The ex players just talk crap about “pashun” and meaningless cliches
  20. If anything Ramsey has been better since fans have been back?
  21. £15m is a fair fee for anyone but Newcastle (and maybe city). The best strategy any other club can adopt to them is to overinflate the asking prices for any players they want to buy. I wouldn’t sell targett to them for any less than £30m
  22. Seriously, how have we allowed this to happen to the game? Why is their such minimal oversight of these kinds of takeovers
  23. Everton haven’t actually been that bad in terms of general play but their defence is absolutely atrocious
  24. The irony is that the fullbacks are actually more effective going forward when starting from a withdrawn position as the timing of their runs is more effective and they arrive at a time when the opposition defence is more exposed. When they start in more advanced positions they’re largely nullified because they’re almost playing as wingers and so are easy to mark from the outset
  25. Fair- don’t know what it is but he just looks less aerially dominant. Maybe his leap isn’t as good as konsas. In any case we’re agreeing on the substantive point re him playing CDM
