  1. he isnt having his best game, but also worth remembering he is only 18, so prob quite a bit younger than most on the pitch.
  2. not sure thats true. Even if they go down, its likely enough of their transfers will have been a success, to allow them to have a huge headstart in terms of quality to get promoted again. There are some players they have signed (or already in the squad), who have proved they are at least top level Champ players. I actually like quite a few of their signings: Toffolo - left back who was high quality in the champ. O'Brien : midfielder who was high quality in the champ, really silky and hard working midfielder. Gibbs - White : was touted as one of the best performers in the Champ last season, 25m base fee isnt a million miles off the going rate for the best performing Champ players over the last few years (even if the expected add ons to 35m are true, if he performs that still isnt a million miles off the going rate for top end Champ performers coming to a PL team), if they go down, he will be a force for them next season. Richards - left back from Bayern, was highly touted a couple of years ago. Dennis - did fairly well in the PL last season, certainly top level Champ quality at minimum, almost certainly mid/lower PL quality. Neco Williams - right back, looks a decent signing imo, if he isnt PL quality, he is certainly a top Champ level player. Kouyate - probably a decent, proven backup midfielder at lower end PL level. Henderson - clearly a PL level keeper. Lingard - yeah a lot of salary, but its a 1 year deal, so nothing lost if it doesnt work out. They have taken some chances on players like Awonyi, Mangala, Biancone, Niakhate & Freuler, but its likely at least some of those will prove decent signings. I think overall, they are having a really good window, i also think they have a good chance of staying up. Even if they dont stay up, i think there is enough quality there now to come straight back up. to be brutally honest, i think their business is better than our promotion year, ofc thats yet to be proven, but i think it is on paper. I think they will stay up.
  3. playing for the U21s tonight, Timmy really needs to go on loan, we dont wanna waste development time for him.
  4. maybe, but its also a fair question overall.
  5. Reporter: "did you notice Emi Buendia's excellent performance when he came on as sub versus Everton?, has he done enough to be considered for a start?" Gerrard (spikey response): "did you not notice Bailey's performance when he came on as a sub also?, his was positive as well". I mean. Why would you say that? Absolutely no need to respond in that way i dont think.
  6. Everton, a relegation threatened club, didnt use El Ghazi, cus he's just not that good. I dont think its any more deep than that.
  7. oh nice, a third Gerrard thread, he seems very popular right now.
  8. This says a lot really, 5th lowest spenders right now. Yeah i know - kamara signing on fee, other fees etc, but still. 7 teams have spent 100m or more.
  9. so its 25m up front, 7-10m of likely add ons, and another 12.5m for less likely add ons. Will be interesting to see how they do, they are certainly going for it, good luck to them.
  10. Young is 4 million years old. So him. I would even say Timmy should replace young.
  11. Replacing Smith 100% wasnt the wrong decision, anyone who thinks his time hadn't come is using some super thick claret & blue tinted glasses. Whether we replaced him with the right manager though, is clearly debatable.
  12. that doesnt cover champ rules tbf, im fairly sure champ clubs can loan 2 from the same club.
  13. anyone see how he did in his 4 minute cameo?
  14. surprised he hasnt come on at 1-1 to do some smeshing.
  15. The true test of a player's ability is whether they can competently play at right back. - Steve Bruce (maybe).
  16. i remember when Davis broke in to the first team, he really looked special, i also remember after some of his performances he was attracting the attention of Manure. Whether he would have developed better and achieved a higher level if we had managed his development better, who knows, but we really did him dirty with the terrible way we managed his development. Obviously, his injuries didnt help over time, but we defo did him dirty in terms of his development. such a pity, but glad to see we are doing better now with developing our youth players.
