  1. Yup, and still more than Watkins (in the league which was the context of what we were talking about, unless you were going to judge it based on competitions Sheffied United aren't even in)
  2. Reads as though he's training on his own, light no impact stuff at that time. If not in pictures yet then that won't have changed, so maybe taking a bit longer than expected at this point? Either way, a return to team training now would probably be a faster recovery than I was expecting after his injury. I'd expected 6 months, rather than 4. Hopefully he's back soon as against the better teams he's a clear upgrade on Digne, but against the mid table teams they're pretty much equally effective.
  3. Stadium falling apart? I missed that. But brilliant all the same
  4. The keeper can come and claim the ball if that "offside player" doesn't pretend to go and get the ball. He backs off as the striker that's offside will get there first. its a blatant offside, that probably only gets given in the PL if it doesn't harm United.
  5. Ex GK and Ex Striker makes every decision ..they have to agree or stick with on field decision? I guess you bring in Ex club bias then, but then I'm sure most of the refs have club biases anyway.
  6. That's just not true. He played in 23 games. Got equivalent of 13 games worth of minutes and scored 8 goals for the team that finished 2nd. You could point to the fact he was released by them and they wrote off any potential sale fee by doing so, suggesting they didn't feel he was worth the 28k or so that he was on, but maybe they're not in need of him. Arguably we aren't, and are shorter in other departments, but I'd say he'd be better for us than Coutinho.
  7. If he wants anything more than 30k per week I agree. For that much, he'd be a better option than nobody though, and if we're releasing Coutinho as it seems we are very short on numbers for what is going to be a very long season. His salary was reportedly less than 30k at PSV so might even accept less. If he wins us a penalty shootout he's made his money back with one kick.
  8. The striker I was talking about was obviously Watkins... . Obviously, you're right, but I feel the point still stands I guess
  9. I'd take him back as a rotation option for the games we aren't worried about, or games where we need to bring on competent penalty takers. His salary would presumably be low. He'd probably be happy coming here as a sub, given he only started 12 of PSV's games last season, and we're kinda short on options thanks to injuries and selling half our youth team. But, I suspect there many more reasons why it would be a bad idea.
  10. He's had 3 fewer games and is already ahead of him. I don't think it's unreasonable to say he might outscore him. Unlikely, maybe, but on evidence so far, its absolutely possible he will get near the same total. That's not a dig at Watkins nor is it a sign that Archer should 100% be signed back if he does. Archer's in a team built around the forward scoring goals, Watkins is in a team that has scored 8 goals in 4 games, none of which were scored by the striker.
  11. They did a league table of points won/lost thanks to wrong VAR calls last season, cant remember who or whether it was a live thing...is there anything similar for this year?
  12. 2 immensely similar VAR decisions, a week in between, one gets given as a penalty the other not... what was the difference? One favored United, the other didn't.
  13. Smart to bring him off given the opposition and likelihood of us losing whether he was there or not. But do feel like losing him meant we wrote off any hope we had. We're an exceptional team when on form, but this bad luck steak is constantly knocking us off our stride. Got to end soon.
  14. As bad as Newcastle were yesterday, they didn't give up playing and grabbed a late consolation. I can't see us going the same. Back to negative GD too. Getting the results we should probably expect, but but the scorelines at the moment.
  15. They seem incapable of using common sense. They cant accurately interpret a rule that requires them to use any judgement so there's two options... Make the rules simpler or get people that aren't corrupet/idiots to operate VAR.
  16. The pattern isnt too bad, but that back panel .
  17. They're in big big trouble. As are Wolves. There's going to be a fight to go down at this rate, rather that a fight to stay up
  18. And people claim this isn't corrupt. Joke. As is they need any help to win anyway after the cheating they've done
  19. This cannot be a real villa fan that messaged the BBC: Noone that stupid supports us do they?
  20. Whilst technically true, I don't think we can claim any of the Brazil, France, or Spain ones. Dougie hasn't been picked for a while now, and the others already had their appearances before us. Kamara even made 3 appearances before joining us but none since.
  21. I agree with the part about not shitting on Buendia, not sure about the Coutinho part though. He hasn't been terrible and it's unfortunate that injuries have prevented him from showing his full ability. It was a gamble for sure, and it would be fair to say it hasn't paid off to the full extent possible. But if we move him on for 20m, get a + in our FFP, and saw moments of his ability when he was given time between injuries, then it's not a busted flush from day one.
  22. The Torres assist from last night shows you what Emery wants from his centre backs. He'd rather score 2 and concede 1 than score none. Clément seems to be another in the same vein with great progressive stats and competent, if not exemplary, defensive ones. Welcome Clément, keep that spot warm for Mings.
  23. Alright Stevie. Calm down. He's not great but he's an adequate backup. He does seem to be improving so hopefully the trend continues with a bit more game time in the league Cup and some other games against weaker opposition. We are weaker with him in... but the same could be said if we had any one from 99% of the rest of the goalkeepers in the world on our bench. Emi is just that good, so expectations in Olsen are going to be high. He's probably better than a lot of the first choice keepers we've had in recent years.
