  1. I wondered this. These were my random thoughts on it... Some did say it only happened because he played the player instead of the ball. I can't bring myself to watch it back so can't really comment on that. But that being his style, there's probably a chance it could have happened at any point during the season. The specifics of the tackle though, may mean it never would have... He wouldn't have been fighting against Isak for 95% of the season. Whilst he's not seemingly built like a tank, he might have certain characteristics that make the challenge on him play out the way it did Mings wouldn't have been on that pitch again this season (probably), that may have had a slightly firmer than usual surface that gripped more than any other ground will this season. Maybe even that specific part of the pitch where the ground gets less cut up during a game, than in the middle had an impact. The tackle was made with Mings probably knowing Isak was offside so perhaps he didn't go into it with the full conviction he might have, and so for such a challenge to even be needed again in the season may be unlikely. It was the first game of the season and he wouldn't be fully match fit. His joints and muscles may have strengthened as the season progressed and provided more protection. There's just so many factors, I think it was just incredibly bad luck.
  2. If our direction of travel takes us beyond Mings by the time he returns, in a similar way to how it might have done for Carlos if we sign someone else, then it would be a good thing for Villa as would probably mean we've sustained European finishes. If that were the case then Mings can take heart in the fact he was an absolutely key component of us getting where we are (in that hypothetical scenario). From the championship to the Europa conference league, we owe a lot to Mings for that. Hopefully he's back early next season, the injury doesn't recur, and he picks up where he left off in terms of his ability. If that happens, he'll still have a place with us even if we finish in the top 6 this season. Guess that's the dream scenario.
  3. Buendia's said this : Tyrone had "before a lengthy rehabilitation process" on the end of his. I know Buendia's will be lengthy anyway, but they didn't say that specific so makes me think their view is Ty's is worse
  4. Given the update sounds worse than the Buendia one, my mind immediately assumed at least 12.
  5. Length rehab process... we all knew it was coming but hurts to see it confirmed. Just hope it goes better than they could possibly expect and he returns somewhat like the same player he was.
  6. Glad I caught this thread after it was already dead in the water. No amount of Bailey's wastefulness would see me longing for Jack bloody Harrison
  7. So do we think Watkins wasn't 100% yesterday? And I'm talking fitness/injury wise rather than him just having a bad day.

    Unai Emery

Meticulous planning can't overcome the shit luck we've had this week. We don't have a replacement for Buendia. We don't have a leader like Mings. There's only so much he can do to overcome that. I'd hope he'd be able to do more. Maybe he expected more from some of our players. A bad day at the office for Emery, I rated him poor, but I'm not sure the best manager in the world wins that game after the luck we've had and poor refereeing we're competing against
  9. I think a lot of the terrible mindset for this game can be put down to Mings being injured horrifically. Especially so after what happened with Buendia a few days ago. But we are definitely going to be weaker without him this season. Gutted for him.
  10. Buendia injury looked like it was on our players minds from the first minute. Mings injury looks like it ruined them for the rest of the game Without the shit offside rules, Mings isn't injured and we get in to our stride. Without corrupt officials we don't go 2-1 down. Sadly, that's the state of the league and the luck we have. Emery will help us overcome it far more often than not, but some days it isn't your day. This week as a villa fan can get f@#ked.
  11. What I'd give for that after this week. Bad week for Villa. Hopefully our players get their minds back in the zone for next game
  12. Offside in that passage.. but they'll get a corner
  13. I'd rather it was in a situation we were winning, but I think it will help with our composure this half
  14. With Cash, I'm not sure he's intelligent enough to accommodate Emery's instructions. He has always made poor decisions, and just can't seem to help himself from making stupid fouls.
  15. Is the rule that the player receiving the pass can be in an offside position provided it goes via one other person intentionally first (and that person was onside)?
  16. Those floating around before kick off that he's injured
  17. Of course not, it wouldn't favour the corrupt regime
  18. Ref scared to book them for their persistent fouling.
  19. F**k football. If the rigged rules don't get you, bad luck will.
  20. This is why the new offside rule is stupid. Also, this is why we can't have nice things. Torres, show us what you can do.
