  1. I try to keep a record of the reserve games (all 118 seasons of reserve league football!). Over the years I’ve collected match information from programmes, teamsheets, newspaper reports, websites, attending games, etc. I’m very grateful to the likes of yourself, BOF & OBE for the input in threads like this. It helps for cross-reference purposes. Anyway, top goalscorers from the Premier Reserve/U23 League era: 1 - Luke Moore - 43 Goals 2 - Stefen Moore - 29 Goals 3 - Rushian Hepburn-Murphy - 24 Goals 4 - Andi Weimann - 23 Goals 5 - Nathan Delfouneso - 22 Goals 6 - Graham Burke - 21 Goals 7 - Gabby Agbonlahor - 19 Goals 8 - Callum Robinson - 19 Goals 9 - Daniel Johnson - 18 Goals 10 - Stephen Cooke - 17 Goals
  2. I’ve updated my U23/reserves career stats. Following this weeks game, Jack Clarke has broken into the top 10 appearance makers since the club resigned from the Central League and joined the Premier League Reserve League back in 99 (under the various guises: North/South & the newer 2 tier system of Premier League 2). Easah Suliman is just 1 appearance behind. Out of interest, here is the top 12: 1 - Stephen Cooke - 90 apps (69 starts + 21 subs) 2 - Jonathan Bewers - 85 apps (80 starts + 5 subs) 3 - Luke Moore - 82 apps (64 starts + 18 subs) 4 - Daniel Johnson - 76 apps (71 starts + 5 subs) 5 - Josh Webb - 72 apps (65 starts + 7 subs) 6 - Stefan Moore - 67 apps (59 starts + 8 subs) 7 - Isaiah Osbourne - 65 apps (56 starts + 9 subs) 8 - Liam Ridgewell - 64 apps (57 starts + 7 subs) 9 - Shane Lowry - 63 apps (59 starts + 4 subs) 10 - Graham Burke - 62 apps (54 starts + 8 subs) 10 - Jack Clarke - 62 apps (50 starts + 12 subs) 12 - Callum O'Hare - 61 apps (41 starts + 20 subs) 12 - Jerell Sellars - 61 apps (52 starts + 9 subs) 12 - Easah Suliman - 61 apps (59 starts + 2 subs)
  3. Moving to an open plan office after about 10 years of having an office all to myself. I now have to be careful when browsing the internet for football and other websites. Forgot how dull the day can be when actually having to work 9 to 5.
  4. If that’s the case then, the subject of accessibility might have to be raised at the next supporters meeting. Bescot/Keys Park/The Grove etc are grounds easily accessed by public transport. There’s no way to get the training ground without using a car. This is probably where I bum out watching the stiffs, I just can’t get there.
  5. The last couple of home games have been moved, So I’m hoping the next will be aswell. If its not, then I’m fooked.
  6. No worries BOF. I'll try to get to the next home game in the cup!
  7. So then: Walker – As usual: solid, hard working, aggressive. Bridge – Did fine, suffered a knock late on and was subbed. It maybe just his running style, but sometimes looks quite casual. Brunt – had mixed game. Lots of endeavour, needs to be better with his passing.
  8. When to Keys Park last night. Overall, a disappointing evening losing 0-1 to Doncaster in the Premier League Cup. First half was very much even, not much between the teams. Not much goal action either. Searle being the busier keeper, saving a well took free kick from the edge of the box. Just before half time, for reasons unknown to me, we were awarded a penalty. Odutayo struck it well to the goalies left hand side, the ball rebounded of the inside of the post and out to safety. Not long after that, Doncaster were down to 10 men, no. 8 Greaves received a second booking. As you would expect, the second half was all Villa. Well almost all Villa. The only goal of the night can from a Doncaster break away. We had Lots of half chances, just couldn’t get a good goalscoring opportunity. For us, Tait had a good game. Always looking to be on the half turn. Just his final pass was lacking. Revan was the best of the back line, Archer looked good in patches. Sea played ok too, some good centre forward play when holding the ball up. Just needed to be better in the final third. Team: Searle, Walker, Rowe, Revan, Bridge (M. Sohna), Birch (Vassilev), Archer, Brunt, Sea, Tait, Odutayo. Unused subs: Hooper, Guy, Marschell.
  9. Just a quick nudge about the tonight's Premier League Cup game. The club had just stated on their twitter page that its being played at Hednesford and not Bodymoor Heath.
  10. Can we get a bit of clarity on the U23 homes games please. Why are we scheduled to use the training ground as a home venue, especially when supporters have previously been turned away at Bodymoor. While I understand there are rumours that Walsall aren’t too keen to host them anymore, surely there are plenty of non-league grounds that would. Can we get a statement from the club on this; is it a temporary thing, is it to be a long-term thing, are they actively engaging other clubs for venues etc. With this in mind, can we make sure we get decent match reports for the upcoming premier league cup games, as this competition gets very little coverage elsewhere on the net. Also, its been mentioned before but, the website still hasn’t updated the player profiles. Us nerdy types do like to know background info like DoBs, previous clubs etc.
  11. To put coins, presumably. Part of the fallout from walletgate? Stevo would be proud.
  12. Could well be a healthy distraction for us, the tie will be sandwiched between the Man City and Liverpool games.
  13. Just a quick update on the Premier League Cup. In our group Doncaster beat Portsmouth 1-0 last night. I can’t find any fixture lists for (unsurprisingly) us, or Donny & Pompy. Only Exeter City have published theirs Judging by the KO time, I assume January Villa-Exeter game will be at the training ground.
  14. On second thoughts, I'm talking out of my behind. Both Archer and Ramsey played in the U23 game before the last round of the league cup. Both where on the bench for the Crewe league cup game.
  15. The teamsheet should be interesting for this one, it might give some clues to the league cup team for Wednesday.
  16. Lost 0-2 to Stoke last night. Fair do’s to Stoke, in Ward and Vokes they had 2 experienced internationals.
  17. On last nights viewing, I’ll rip your arm off for 17th place right now. In contrast to last season, the backline looked steady while the midfield & forward line struggled. An additional problem for me is that Jack & McGinn will play almost every minute as the midfield central pair. When they’re hot and in form that’s great, but like last night when they’re off form and giving the ball away a lot, we need to change them. Either shovel them out wide or sub them off. Last night I would have preferred Luiz to come on and let Marvellous loose as he looks like he’s got legs and can drive forward, with Jack or McGinn cutting inside from a wide position.
  18. The OS has updated the academy player pics: AVFC U18s
  19. Thanks BOF At least Pompy, Donny & Exeter have their own academy twitter feeds so we should be able to get some match information! So no Birmingham Senior Cup this year ☹
  20. Not that I can see. Salford are streaming it live for £10 (UK only) https://live.salfordcityfc.co.uk/
  21. Well suck me, beautiful. I've just spent the last 15 minutes looking through it. The text commentary goes back to the start of last season. But nothing for the cup games. Why haven't the club told anybody about this. Anyway, just a quick reminder that the team play Salford tonight in the EFL Trophy (the old Sherpa Van/Leyland DAF; the one Wolves/Blues's first team won).
  22. Made his debut 6 years ago today, against Rotherham in the League Cup (won 3-0). Is our longest serving current player now.
  23. 500% sounds too unbelievable. Probably counts all the refunded shirts with the size issues people have had!
  24. cambridge city yoof Find my past has his birth registered in 2003!
