  1. With an assured standing in the league it is possible that players who deserve a chance to impress are getting just that.
  2. Alarm was set for when line-ups are announced, and must say, dream come true to see both Sanson and Leon get a chance to impress from the start of a fixture. UTV!!
  3. Would be unreal to have Villa come to Melbourne. Wouldn't miss it. I'll make a banner saying "Phil, I'm pregnant!!"
  4. They also made us endure the SAF era whereby they established themselves as the best team in the best league worldwide just as TV deals were offering world conquest rates and exposure. The amount of support that ensued and furthered Uniteds revenue and standing was unequalled. Could be getting my wires crossed but that is my understanding from last I checked which was some time ago.
  5. Two midfielders of an assigned ensemble of three playing crap is most definitely likely to compromise the whole team outfits performance and chance of success. Identifying why they are playing crap is pivotal in understanding if personnel changes are required or if managerial and instructional ones are more what's necessary. Or perhaps it's that adaptation to new tactics and sequences are proving difficult, going beyond what's desired or expected. Even the best players can dwindle in a setup that's proving integration to be more challenging than what was presumed beforehand. Number of aspects to look at if we want to.
  6. Depends on what kind of form we are in and any given result. I feel like criticism levelled at both Dougie and McGinn addresses and reflects times where the team dynamic and plan is lacking, as much if not more than it is individual player performance analysis.
  7. Must be number one priority signing going into next season. Simply won't be able to sign an established man of his calibre of talent for the price we are looking at. Allows us to fill the void left by Grealish's departure albeit through acquiring a player with different assets and strengths, it will mean the level of influence on each fixture is one that allows us to thrive and impose our game on the ball.
  8. Not much help but someone in a Twitter thread insinuating his insight came with authority says he has an agent that is making power plays. I lack the interest and reach to assist any further.
  9. Two different men. Two different players. I back Tammy to ace any league he plays in. Always rated him highly as he's an intelligent footballer with the skills to go with, the physicality, most important of all, the mentality. He may well not meet expectations if the price does get to 100m. However I reckon he'll be a very talented and effective striker for some time to come.
  10. Whelan a deep lying playmaker? When I think of a DLP I think of Pirlo, Xabi, players who can initiate and control the tempo of how the game will go from deep, and yet impact proceedings further forward with a single decision and move. Whelan was an assured simple short passer but I saw him as a ball winner and nothing more.
  11. Yes!! Was thinking exactly this. Wasn't brave enough to post it though, so thanks, glad to see others with this view. Add to this, we've an abundance of talent deep into the bench. Some of these guys should not be keeping the pine warm.
  12. Mings, Konsa and Chambers are surely all decent ball playing centre backs? Mings especially. Chambers capable of contributing to build up phase. Konsa while no needle threader does push the ball forward into attack when there is no ideal options and our opponents give him license, and while that doesn't really qualify him as a ball playing defender, he does oftentimes execute to good effect. I'm guessing the consensus is that this is not an accurate statement though, or that they are not contributing to some system of play SG has in mind I'm not aware to.
  13. And apparently that site isn't much to go by. I'll let those who have seen him play discuss him @VillaChris Another site I find to be great has him down as a defensive machine who struggles with passing and position in build up phase. Edit: the more I look the more it screams as a good shout!
  14. Never seen him play but a quick search from a site titled with "scout" says he's defensively poor, quite aggressive in defending too. If that's got any merit to it, I think we pass. The first prerequisite for any DM we bring in has got to be someone who's going to nullify opposition attacks before the last line has to, as opposed to making errors and giving up fouls allowing opponents to advance.
  15. Thanks. I'm going to fire my scouts. So now I'm currently unemployed. I had been searching promising young defensive midfielders from across Europe and at 190cm and from Ivory Coast the Yaya comment seemed apt. You are right though he only would be considered a midfielder because Torino play with a back three. You'd think multiple people who've published Web pages would have got that more clear.
  16. Maybe we are talking about different players? Edit: no, same. I suppose Chambers started at RB.
  17. Stephane Singo @TRO Definitely has the physicality for the DM role. Could be the Ivory Coast's next Yaya.
  18. He was better than NRC, but he appeared nine times for us apparently.
  19. Not sure. We will do better than to buy Levis surplus.
