  1. What a wonderful player, manager and man. I’ve told a story on here before how my Dad met Brian and Ron Saunders at BMH, I don’t bore you all again but both men were absolute gentlemen and both a credit to our incredible football club. Brian was my favourite player growing up and also gave me some wonderful moments when he came back to manage us. I can add that a couple of Christmases ago my wife bought me a signed copy of his book, “My Aston Villa” but the first copy arrived unsigned, so she emailed the publisher and Brian personally replied and apologised then sent a signed copy. He also follows her company now. Sums the gentleman up completely. What a gent, what a Villan. He still watches us and I’d like to think we and him can be very happy in the near future. We’re blessed to have a man like him at the club in any capacity! UTV and long live Sir Brian Little. Player, club shop assistant, first team manager, fan, truely one of our own in every way. Thank you Brian! . I’m sure he can still walk on water too! Would you want to bet against him?
  2. The good thing is that Tyrone no longer has to look the manager in the eye and can concentrate on his game, which is now, under a proper manager, solid. In fact I’d say developing very well and perhaps could be described as the best if his career, especially as he’s now doing it at the top end of the PL and in Europe. Which highlights his strength and the remarkable job Unai is doing. I think it was you TRO in an earlier post that said he, Unai, has lots of things to consider in the bigger picture and not just the game we’re playing or about to play, it is in this context that we have to judge the manager and the players. A bigger and better squad will always help of course. Thoughts that our current squad is good enough to win the league are at best fanciful. The bigger squads always finish the season strongly just at the time when squads of lesser quality fall back. Last season whilst not unusual was a good example of this. Hopefully we do good work in the January market and we don’t suffer the consequences of not doing so. The good news is that we are in very good hands now through the club. UTV!!!!
  3. I would say the thing we miss most from Tyrone is his leadership and strength of character as well as his physicality. In fact I’d say we could do with a similar player in the middle of the pitch. They are few and far between though, particularly if they are high quality technical footballers as well. Step forward Monchi please!
  4. Because an opportunity arose to get money for him that wasn’t likely to arise again. That’s what we’ll run management is all about. It was a good decision at the time and fairlylow risk for us, WestHam and the player. Grown up thinking,I’m sure you could ask an adulting your house to help?
  5. I wouldn’t argue with that and I definitely think we can and possibly will get both in the next few years with the Sultan pulling the strings.
  6. Man U plastic, “you must admit we’re the best team in the country.” Me, “Really, where’s your trophy then?” it went on like that for hours! You can’t put a price on that.
  7. PS. I stayed at the Wembley Hilton after the League Cup final against Man U and the fun I had winding up the ManU plastics will be with me forever.
  8. Well I’ve lived long enough to see most of our journeys, I was chosen in the late 60s/early 70s so it’s fair to say I’ve laughed and cried along the way but I’ll never forget those days in May on the early 80s or in fact the various trips to Wembley. Ok mostly they were before Sky invented football in 1992 but I’d love a few repeats particularly to lift the FA Cup. I understand that the money of the CL makes these things more likely but memories of winning games and particularly finals live in our hearts and heads forever!
  9. I’m sure there are plenty of Spurs fans, including Harry Kane who regularly have played in the CL would agree with you. Yes the game has changed/been ruined by the money and I’m not ignoring the importance of strong finances and being in a position to use the money, according to the rules, but that must surely be seen as a means to an end, which for most fans is winning trophies and enjoying the journey to the silverware!?
  10. An approach that many a striker takes too! And a fair few midfielders eh Jack? Never for us but his new employers expect it!! As did that bloke who used to play for Spurs but went to Germany.
  11. You can put me down for a picture of SJM with the FA Cup anytime you like But any achievements don’t have to be mutually exclusive. A few additional trophies in the trophy cabinet and the financial gain of qualifying for the CL will do nicely thanks Unai. Playing in the CL will only be good if we are competitive and progress to the latter stages, then SJM can have this picture taken again and stick it next to the one of him with the FA Cup! We will be able to afford a new trophy cabinet if the old one is too small.
  12. I didn’t think that we could be caught now as if we’re caught on points we have a better head to head record against Legia or am I missing something?
  13. I think that when CP was first appointed an experienced CEO was needed as NSWE were new to English football despite their undoubted business experience in other sports and countries. However I think the arrival of Unai showed them what was required to advance the club to where they and we want it to be. CP didn’t agree and decided to leave the project. He’d undoubtedly been s success up to a point but had out lived his usefulness and so various back room changes and appointments left him in s position where he felt his job was on done, I’d imagine that Nas and Wes agreed with him and so his time here was over. He definitely was instrumental in getting us back to a point where we could move forward but different skills were needed to make that move forward. Possibly like the difference beteeen Dean and Unai. No disrespect to Dean or Cristian but it’s the nature of progress.

I’m pretty sure you know what I’m getting at. Thanks anyway.
  15. To be honest despite all the Spurs and media Representatives for Wellingborough moaning I don’t think thst there was a malicious tackle in the game, plenty of cynical tackles from them though which they seem to all be conveniently ignoring now.
  16. Or Tyrone!! Even that gentle Scottish lad who’s our captain might not take kindly to anyone attacking his pals!
  17. I don’t have a problem with people thinking of us as a rough team! We’ve been a soft touch for years and where did that get us?
  18. He was undoubtedly a very talented footballer but now he can’t get or stay fit enough to play at the level required for us in the PL or any other competitions we’re competing in. It was a risky signing not bad as a loan but ridiculous once we’d had a chance to look at him properly to ever make it permanent. All part of the vanity project by our former CEO to help his pals from Liverpool. I have no ill will for Coutinho but I’m afraid his first class football career is now over and was a few years ago at Barcelona, who turned us over thanks to an unfathonable decision add my Christian Purslow.
