I think that will come with time in the PL. We currently have next to no depth to make changes with, but with a few more windows we should have 15+ quality players all capable of making a difference in games. This is obviously entirely dependent on us recruiting well but I've got faith in our new setup as far as this goes.

I agree that it was a contributing factor. I think the lack of game time he's had over the last 6 months due to Ligue 1 cutting last season short is the main reason for his lack of fitness, not ideal but in the context of the full length of his contract it shouldn't be a big issue. He'll be 100% up to speed by December and then hopefully show us what he's made of. I've liked what he's shown in short bursts so far tbh.

Understat have us 9th for total xG but we're 4th for xG/game. Brighton are doing very well by every xG metric though, they're 4th in the xPTS table. Potter is the reverse Steve Bruce in terms of luck it seems.

Disagree, I think we were doing okay in the opening half hour. For the first 20 minutes we were overwhelming Struijk to the point he was very lucky not to be sent off, then after he got subbed Grealish had the one cleared off the line that was close enough for Hawkeye to take a look. That was by far the best chance either side had up until then, it certainly wasn't clear we needed to change anything.

They basically made two points and I agree with both. Firstly, that stats unrelated to goals should be viewed in the context of trends and even then they aren't that useful. The example they used was Vardy being labelled as having a bad game against WHU because he didn't have many touches but when viewed in the context of his average touches it was not noticeably different than his touch numbers the previous week when he scored 3. The second was that xA is a better measure of creativity than actual assist numbers. This should be obvious but I've never seen it mentioned on any live coverage.

Accoring to Percy, Grealish's new contract puts him on £140k per week IIRC so there's no danger he'll be annoyed we're paying Barkley ~25% less.
