    Whilst I want to believe we’re identifying and speaking with potential replacements for Gerrard, I can’t help but think he’ll be given a bit more time.     Such is my disillusionment with Gerrard right now, I’d even take Steve Cotterill as our next manager.

    I think this is the cycle for most managerial reigns to be fair - not many can maintain the momentum year in, year out. Best to think of it in terms of a similar period to typical player contracts, 3 to 5 years being a reasonable period of tenure.

    Absolutely, and you’d imagine he’s not going to stay available for long. Not saying he’d necessarily be interested in us, but opportunities like this don’t come along too often. We should be doing whatever it takes to convince him. It will cost, for sure, but the current path of self-destruction will also prove extremely costly unless drastic action is taken. Imagine what Poch could achieve with some of our under-achieving / under-utilised / misused South American talent?
