  1. Aye, but is he willing to track back
  2. Did he get injured before going out on loan? I can't remember now.
  3. I couldn't agree more
  4. At least they would stay in position.
  5. News just in: Di Matteo axes Bacuna, Gabby, Lescott, Richards and Guzan in first day in charge. is the next breaking news I want to see.
  6. Welcome to the Villa Roberto! Glad to have you on board. Im looking forward to things starting to happen quickly now. An owner, manager, fans and players all pulling in the same direction to get us back to our rightful place! UTV! Bob n Tony's claret and blue army!
  7. Yes, he nu-clears the bar everytime! Sorry
  8. Didn't Ross McCormack cost something like 12m?
  9. Or Kieran Richardson, for example. I'd be very happy if Stan can get back to fitness and play a part, however small next season.
  10. Strangely, when I called my mum (who still lives in Wellington) two weeks ago, she mentioned that Villa were playing Telford. I assumed she was talking gibberish and thought nothing of it. This was the day after the takeover was announced, so plans must have been in place behind the scenes.
  11. I hope the dossier on Gabby is just a takeaway pizza menu with a cut out image of him smoking his shisa stuck to the front.
  12. That would be an excellent move for us, a young, dynamic, goal scoring midfielder is something we've not seen in a while. Im just not sure anyone will want to send their players to us on loan as things stand. But once the changes are made and things are settled, I'd expect we'll be more appealing.
  13. It's too early to try and predict what will happen next season. We'll know a lot more once the takeover goes through and we employ a manager and staff. A lot can happen in a short space of time and it could be that we act quickly in the transfer market and the new manager galvanises the team, with new positivity and direction and everyone playing to the same tune. We might be surprised by how well we do. It could, of course, easily go wrong and we end up nowhere near promotion. I'm not qualified (couldn't afford the time travellers license) to predict which way it will go. It's hell waiting for news, seems to be taking forever. We just have to hold tight and see what happens.
  14. I'd rather we just get RDM in now and move on tbh
  15. Because he looks like an old potato face... And used to manage Small Heath. At least that's what it seems. My view is open minded, I've never been a huge fan but he does have the promotion experience we're looking for. Could be succeed? He's got as much chance as any of the other candidates.
  16. The bigger than me bigger than you, John Carew's lap dancing flume.
  17. Also, unless he's avoided football completely for the last year, he will have a good idea of which of our players are good/bad.
  18. I don't know, but I'm hoping that he's been offered the job and accepted already and we're just waiting for an initial announcement. If he's expecting the job then I imagine he will be researching and preparing his plans for the job already. I'd be very surprised if he only starts thinking about it once it's officially announced.
  19. Le Tissier was class back in the 90's, scored some beautiful goals. In addition to my post earlier, I've also been to see Oxford United a few times. My mums friend was an avid fan and followed them home and away. I went to a few away games; Shrewsbury, Hereford, Chester and Swindon. The atmosphere and banter was always first class, even if the football wasn't.
  20. Ah I see, thanks for explaining. It must be the only football related event as the other day when I checked the sky sports app, there were 15 articles all about Mourinho. Not one about the glorious Aston Villa! Pfft what do Sky know anyway.
  21. So the Championship playoff final is today. Rumour among the Wednesday fans at work is they've sold 40,000 tickets. Don't know how true that is but I know these games have bigger allocations than the FA cup final, not as many corporate tickets. Id like Sheffield Wednesday to go up, more so than Hull as I see them as a proper football team with history. It would be great for their fans who have suffered some awful football over the years. On the other hand, I've got to work with them. Not sure I can face the 'banter' if we end up a league below them!
  22. Was wondering the same?! I thought he was a football manager, not a page 3 model!
  23. He could be a very good player for us, provided he gets back to full fitness with no ill effects from his injury. I think if he plays the full season as our first choice left back and in a new, positive and organised team he will flourish. Add to the fact he's in a lower division and we should see him improve loads. I certainly wouldn't want to see him go now. Time will tell of course but I think he could be a decent, good, great, super, excellent, fabulous, marvellous, fantastic, awesome, successful player for Villa* *please delete superlative as appropriate.
