    Watched "under the skin" last night. Good watch, but very distressing and unsettling in places. Also, fair play to Film Four for showing the whole film without ad breaks.

    I already know what will happen against Chelsea. He'll start Gil and he won't have a great game by his standards (but will still be a damn sight better than what we're currently used to). Then he'll demoted to the bench from whence he came. And Chelsea will win 4-0.

    Showing them that you're a good guy but appearing not to be that fussed towards them romantically seems to be the general idea. Easier said than done if you really like them though.

    Stating the bleedin' obvious here, but as a team we are terrible at handling defeats. Always have been. Total conjecture, but had we not pissed away that Leicester game in the manner in which we did, I feel we would have had a better showing in the last few games, at least would have got a few more points on the board from baggies, plop and stoke. That is part of the losing mentality this club has. No idea how to shift it as it's seemingly there whomever is in charge.

    I would stunned if he was sacked. Just don't see it happening. It took us nearly 3 years to get rid of Lambert. I can't see us giving him the boot in October having spent £50m. Another hard, miserable season for us.

    I was supporting Sinclair, looks like I was a bit hasty. Why Ayew hasn't had a kick since his good showing against Sha is mad.

    Lawro's laughable sometimes. His prediction doesn't bother me at all, it's not a bad shout. What does bother me is statement about Rudy being the standout of our transfers, it's almost as if he just looks up the top scorers table and assumes that he's been our best player from that. Anyway, please play Gil today. But more importantly, please win Villa, it's been too long since I thoroughly enjoyed a weekend.

    The insistence of pundits and others in the game in talking about a team's "philosophy". Not once have I heard it explained what a given team's philosophy is, only that they and the manager have one. I assume the general themes are playing well and scoring more goals than the opposition. It's like they're dressed as Socrates and Plato discussing the "Republic".

    Sorry to hear that. Yes, Hollywood has a lot to answer for. Very easy to say now, but however tonight went, however crushed it may leave you, the time will come when it's just a memory. That time starts tomorrow.

    Tricky one Rugeley (I would quote but my phone seems to hate it). I've got hazard in my team and have been considering removing him too, can't bring myself to do it though. I have an detrimental affect on players once they're on my team. Most recently and to my shame, I took out Gestede before the Liverpool game and replaced him with free scoring Wilson from Bournemouth. We won't see him for six months. I've told my Man U mates that Martial is on my shopping list to piss them off.

    I'm fairly sure I read that you would have to drink around 100 bottles of becks blue to equal the alcohol content of a regular becks. I do like the odd becks blue when I'm trying to avoid the booze.

    Think "From Russia with Love" is one of the picks from the Connery bonds. Very underrated and Robert Shaw is a good villan. Never really got into the roger moore films, but "nobody does it better" is the best bond tune. Brosnan was bond whilst I was growing up, so I also identify him in the role initially. Likewise GoldenEye is very good and Famke Janssen is quite possibly one of the reasons why I'm attracted to beautiful brunettes who I know will eventually crush me (emotionally if not physically).

    As it happens Meath, I was thinking of that "J. R. Hartley" advert yesterday and wondered how many would get the reference now. A couple of years ago at work, I was being compared to Victor Meldrew by my one colleague and our 18 year old trainee had literally no idea who he was.

    Yep, the spinal tap commentary is great. It's done totally in character, loads of jokes, definitely worth a watch (provided you enjoyed the film anyway).
