  1. Yeah I came to the same conclusion. Sorry if this is repeating what @VILLAMARV has just said, but I spent a few minutes working this out, and I’m tired and hungover and I can’t let it all be for nought. Let’s say the two teams not winning are Bristol City and Derby. We win, we’re on 75. They both draw and Boro win, Boro are on 70, Bristol 67 and Derby 65. With two games left, Boro could overtake us by one point as could Bristol City if they win all their remaining games. So in that instance, no we wouldn’t have sealed it. If Boro draw, they can only reach 74 points. I think it can be sealed tomorrow (discounting goal difference), but we have to win, Boro have to drop points and one of Derby or Bristol City do too.
  2. I think Aguero quietly goes about being brilliant not making the headlines in same way as Kane or Salah. Kane being English naturally means people pay more attention, Salah is the main man of the darlings of Merseyside and his brilliance is still relatively new to people. With Aguero it’s almost like people are just used to him now, so perhaps not underrated but maybe taken for granted a bit. If there’s a difference there. Off the top of my head, he’d be in my top five strikers in the premier league (the other four probably would be Shearer, Henry, Drogba and Van Nistelrooy....sorry Wayne). He appears to be relatively likeable too, unless I’m missing or forgetting some unpleasantness from his career so while I don’t care for city winning everything, him succeeding is palatable.
  3. Jenas and all pundits would gain much more respect (from me anyway) if, on changing his stance, he just said “At the time, I thought that based on those early performances. However looking back at it now I was a bit quick to make that comment.”
  4. I actually think Man Utd spent closer to £400m, but I can’t be certain of the numbers. My point is José saying “yeah but come on - look at these players...and I still got second place, aren’t I great?” doesn’t wash with me. A lot of them are his players. If he doesn’t rate them, then he shouldn’t have brought them in. Edit - also add to this he inherited de gea, bought zlatan for free, Sanchez relatively cheaply, that’s going to have reduced the potential spending...Everton or other europa league contenders don’t often have players of that quality in their squad.
  5. Perhaps he should have brought in better players with £300m + they gave him and maybe it wouldn’t have been such a hardship for him.
  6. A few weeks old but I don’t recall seeing it posted in here, so just in case it wasn’t-
  7. (psssst everyone...I think Steve Gibson has some compromising pictures of sne)
  8. Rugby tries seemingly allowed at Carrow road tonight for Fletcher. To balance it up, the Norwich freekick was soft. Great finish though.
  9. In fairness Hull were in stunning form at the time, having won six on the bounce before meeting us - (2-0 Brentford, Swansea 3-2, Preston 2-1, Leeds 2-0, Bolton 6-0, Sheff Wed 3-0). So in that one instance a draw wasn’t a bad result. QPR were on a four game unbeaten run too at the time, but of course annoyingly they fall apart after playing us. But yeah you’re correct, you can’t have too many bad spells in a season and have serious aspirations of automatic promotion. We could have gotten away with either the generally rubbish opening twelve games or the rubbish start of 2019, not both. It happened last season too, although the bad runs weren’t as lengthy but they appeared at points in the season when it had previously looked like we were getting a foothold in the season.
  10. At least a draw keeps alive Sheff Wed’s faint play off hopes which in turn should mean they’ll give Bristol City a game on Monday.
  11. The run will come to an end eventually, let’s just hope it’s not until next season (even though this thread existing is tempting fate ). But in the meantime, we just have to enjoy this while it lasts. Incredible to think that some of the Villa supporters who last enjoyed a 9 game winning run would have been around when the club was formed.
  12. Think they’ve blown their automatic hopes, remaining fixtures are Brentford (a), Villa (h) and Ipswich (h). Now they may well win all of those, but they’re still reliant on Sheff Utd dropping points. They have Hull (a), Ipswich (h) and Stoke (a).
  13. Bet we were lucky in this one too
  14. Apparently Tammy is back sat on the bench following his injury. Positive sign?
  15. We’ve been generally better in the second half, at least in terms of goals. Of the last 4 games, 7 of our 9 goals have come in the second half.
  16. All this confidence is making me apprehensive.
  17. Just around the house. Trials before they’re unleashed on an unsuspecting public.
  18. Friday - hopefully go for a run, followed by helping with doing up a house (mainly cosmetic stuff at the moment, stripping wallpaper). Crossing my fingers for a positive result in the afternoon before fatherly duties for the night. Saturday - meeting up with a few mates for drinks in Shifnal, may go on elsewhere depending how it progresses. I’ll be debuting my new jeans, so anything could happen. Sunday - recovery - which means tea, bacon sandwiches and maybe an old episode of columbo. Monday - very much like Friday sans fatherly duties.
  19. Yeah, last night wasn’t the first time a goal was scored, players and fans celebrated and then it was disallowed, VAR or otherwise. It also won’t be the last time. Supporters are still going to assume the goal will stand and go crazy. If people having egg on their face for celebrating is the price to pay for having the correct decision being made, then I’m ok with it.
  20. Never mind all this Leeds talk, does anyone mind if we get back to the topic this thread was originally meant for please? Thank you.....so we were definitely the deserved winners against Bristol City, could have won by much more.
  21. I always assume every Villa goal will be disallowed one way or another anyway so I’m used to holding back slightly in my celebration It made for dramatic viewing tonight. As if the game needed any more talking points.
