  1. If we truly want to be competitive in the current and next era of the premier league and European football we have no other realistic option but to rebuild the existing stadium or move to a new stadium. We can’t bank on having a manager like Emery forever who is always going to have us outperforming clubs with significantly higher revenue - especially in a PSR/FFP world.
  2. Great opportunity for Cash to win back his shirt and for Carlos to try to claim the right side CB slot as his own. If we get the midfield cover for Cash right we should be ok v Chelsea. Man Utd is more concerning as they targeted RB in the previous game so Cash is going to have to play very well but he’s done that before. No need for panic stations just yet.
  3. 8 wins has to be the aim with a target of 5 at home and 3 away. Home Man utd, forest, Spurs, wolves, brentford, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Liverpool Away Fulham, Luton, west ham, man city, arsenal, Brighton, palace, We need to get wins on the board in Feb otherwise could leave us with a lot to do when the fixtures pile up and get harder in March and April. Not losing to spurs and Man Utd to a lesser extent is key obviously.
  4. Assuming we don’t sell a major player key priority targets will be RB, Kamara competition and Watkins competition. Maybe a left footed CB if Mings recovery is concerning.
  5. There is no guarantee that Mings will be the same player after a year out at this point in his career.
  6. Play same XI as v sheff utd and go strong. Real opportunity to build confidence and progress to latter stages of the cup if we get through Chelsea.
  7. We have to beat Man Utd at home to put them to bed. If they win, it’s only a 5 point gap and that’s nothing with so many games still left to play.
  8. Plan will be to sell cash I suspect and replace with a first teamer with the Serbian kid being the back up.
  9. This is going to be a horrible, excruciating watch of us being low blocked to death. They know exactly what to do and a point for them would be great. Hopefully, we just need to get that first goal somehow.
  10. Traore was probably paid off to some degree but agree with the rest.
  11. The announcement has clearly now been delayed due to the reaction to the leaked crests. It was set to be announced in the first half of the month by all accounts. Lets hope they’ve been busy adjusting the proposed design….
  12. Needs to sack his agent pronto or he’ll end up a journeyman in Saudi at the age of 23. His agent probably only has Duran as a significant player meaning he has to either get him to move or get a contract extension otherwise he won’t get paid. Im getting bored of this constant rubbish now so fully expect we will sell him in the summer unless he somehow becomes the main man (which he won’t).
  13. They are never going to admit guilt for anything significant and they are never going to give up the trophies they have already won. They’d be quite happy to pay a 400m pound penalty and 40 point deduction under protest and we can then see this all brushed under the carpet. The only question in my mind is whether the new incoming labour government would have a different view.
  14. I agree with everything you’ve posted but the very same premier league were told by the government to wave through the Saudi investment in Newcastle and they did. No doubt the premier league club owners will all be enraged by City’s cheating but they will be far, far more concerned about what an upset UK government could do to impact the value of their investments. No doubt a deal will be cut by the government to limit the real power that any independent regulator will have or to wave through anything else that they want to keep the premier league owners happy and to ensure that they act in the interests of the government. All very tawdry but unfortunately this is very high stakes politics.
  15. The point being missed here is that Man City’s case has nothing to do with football or the premier league anymore. This is now about Abu Dhabi’s existing and potential future investment in the UK of billions of pounds. That’s why the government is involved and why any punishment will be meaningless in the grand scheme of things. They will concoct what looks like a heavy financial and points penalty which will mean absolutely nothing to Abu Dhabi apart from one year out of the champions league.
  16. It’s a hard no to ESR. 26 goal involvements in his entire career and one decent season. Arsenal were stupid enough to give him a huge contract and now is exactly the time due to FFP to make them regret it.
  17. Because he plays like exactly what he currently is - a rash impetuous kid that picks up yellow cards like an infant picks up candy. There are many positive things you can say about Duran’s potential but I don’t think you would find a single Villa fan in the world that would say he currently plays with an old (wise) head on young shoulders.
  18. Yes, he is anything but wise.
  19. People should be far more worried about 4th than the wet dream of finishing first.
  20. We’re not going to win the bloody title you fools. Enjoy the ride, and celebrate if we’re lucky to finish fourth.
  21. Are people genuinely still believing we are in a title race?
  22. Thanks for sharing your insight, it’s really appreciated!
  23. I personally think that Emery and the club are dealing with this extremely well. They all know his potential and the kid just wants to play. The more minutes he gets the happier he will be. Fortunately we have a shit ton of games coming up for the rest of the season so it’s time for him to step up and prove he can deliver. It’s obvious we’re not going to sign another striker unless he strongly pushes to leave and Emery’s press conference suggests that’s not going to happen. Im excited. I think a tuned in Duran is going to make a big difference for the rest of the season. He just needs to stop the silly yellow cards.
  24. Well, Emery clearly disagrees with you, but what does he know.
