  1. I doubt they’ll risk Pau considering he missed Luton and will be pleasantly surprised if Jacob is fit enough. Question is do you play Lenglet and Chambers or maybe Konsa and Pau play a half each if they are fit enough. If Ramsey isn’t fit enough then you play Watkins and Bailey for a half each.
  2. Hopefully this will be the slowest and most boring one paced turgid game of the season. Kill the game with minimum expenditure of energy and zero injuries and then look to finish them off at VP after Spurs.
  3. Ultimately we’re all guessing but I very much doubt we have to sell a key player to avoid a points deduction re PSR. If that was the case the club wouldn’t have signed three development players for a significant transfer fee total in January. I suspect that we can meet PSR and raise funds for a couple of transfers through a couple of relatively straightforward disposals (Donks, Sanson, Digne, Cash, Carlos etc) and some well structured sponsorships (ie up front payments) including the adidas deal etc. The point re selling a key player would be to give us huge headroom to operate in the summer. Ie sell Doug and then have the ability to buy a world class replacement, an elite RB, Nico Williams and his brother etc .
  4. It’s really not that tough at all. Emery has said a number of times his priority is champs league football
  5. He’s nowhere near the level of Trez, Ghazi, Conor, Uncle Albert or even Jedinak.
  6. I agree with Sheepy that he’s outshone Carlos and done so in more arduous circumstances. As long as the wages and transfer fee were sensible Lenglet would be a no brainer of a 4th choice CB. I still suspect though we’ll go for a younger right footed CB option instead.
  7. Dan knows far more about what goes on at VP than many but is always very discreet re what, when and how he shares that info. The last time he said something even remotely approaching this, Purslow left the club.
  8. Our CB pairing for luton is likely to be Lenglet and Chambers …. When was the last time city lost that many points in a title run in under Guardiola? I’ll give you a clue - never. We would literally have to win every single game to have a chance and that’s not happening in a million years. Our first fight is to secure fourth. Our second is to win the Conference. After that third would be amazing but many are significantly underestimating how hard the run in is going to be because of Europa and our injuries.
  9. Well that’s the minimum bar for our adidas deal then. Anything less than what Leeds have would be extremely, extremely questionable.
  10. A continual reminder to us to that maybe we should not judge new signings until they’ve had time to settle.
  11. I guess the big question is whether he still wants to play at a decent level or not. Looks like he’s happy to sit on his contract and then probably try to get a well paid move as a free agent
  12. We are not in a million years catching City and Arsenal. If anything we’d do well to maintain the current gap. Hopefully city stuff man utd 10-0 to leave their season completely in tatters and we can then confirm it’s just us v spurs in the race for fourth.
  13. PSR is fine in principal. It’s actually very easy to fix the issues. Any loss over the permitted limits needs to be fully funded by the owners in advance. If you want to lose 100m fine, stick it in escrow and you can gamble your own money and not the clubs future. Different rules clearly needed for any club with any significant holding from any individual connected with a nation state.Any loss they make has to be met by an equivalent solidarity payment to the league to be split across all other premier league clubs. Any sponsorship deals for a nation state owned club can’t exceed the equivalent from a non nation state club. I.e. in the UK Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal would be the cap. Lots of detail required but it’s very easy to fix if the real intention is just to stop clubs going bust.
  14. In all fairness the loss of Shaw and Hojlund completely derailed them v Fulham. As we know, you can’t plan for that shit. It’s us v spurs for 4th but reality is that barring some miracles from Bayern 5th will probably be good enough for champions league.
  15. Hopefully his time in the Physio room has given him time to reflect on what a wonderful opportunity he has to learn from one of the best managers in the world and one of the best strikers in Europe. Hopefully he’s also learned not to put his faith into a sole player agent that only has his own financial interest at heart.
  16. Give him a half or 60 min v Ajax to get him ready for spurs. Rest Pau v Ajax whilst we are at it and start Lenglet on the left.
  17. This match will really test our intelligence. Luton will try to intimidate, be overly physical and to create an atmosphere that turns this into a basketball game. We will need to show huge amounts of desire but most of all patience and intelligence to slow the game down and to play to our strengths. This will not be straightforward as they are fighting for their lives. If we can sort out the defensive set pieces, we should have enough going forward.
  18. Directly from the horses mouth. It’s not being reported yet as far as I’m aware.
  19. Out for another 2 weeks apparently…..looks like he’s going to miss spurs games unless he comes in ahead of schedule.
  20. The amazing thing is we have so many contenders. Martinez, Pau, Luiz, McGinn, Bailey….. but for me it’s Watkins at the moment.
  21. Hopefully Konsa or Carlos will be back for Ajax away as that’s the obvious game to give Pau a rest.
  22. I agree fully re Archer. He’s done nothing at Sheff Utd to suggest he’s good enough for us. Buy him back and sell him to one of the clubs promoted from the championship. Philogene is intriguing. We have a space for another winger/forward but in a perfect world we could buy Nico Williams if we make champions league but question is do we have the PSR room to do that? Philogene might just be the bargain option.
  23. We all know set pieces are the threat so we have to control the game and keep them away from our box - easier said than done. Hopefully Pau is fit and gives us the control. Martinez then needs to come and claim everything off set pieces.
  24. They’ll probably give Sousa a chance in pre season to stake a claim.
  25. Recovery from such injuries has been much improved in recent years as the medical techniques have improved Hopefully they both get back to their previous ability so they can contribute to what feels like is going to be a wonderful few years for us. It just wouldn’t feel right if we finally won something and Ty was not in the squad.
