  1. Hopefully it will be Heck’s second “pause” as in many months or the owners just binning the whole exercise altogether and just saying we are sticking with the crest from last summer. They would be idiots to formally launch this crap after seeing the online reaction knowing full well that they would have to replace it in the next few years anyway.
  2. Beale clearly remembers him from his time at Villa and thinks he could have an impact. Would be great move for the kid to end up there if Beale can give him game time. Hopefully we can get some money for him in January to help add to the Azaz money as unlikely he’ll ever be good enough for the first team.
  3. And apparently President Business is one of the best Execs in the sporting world at branding….. If this is how he performs in his strongest suit he should be fired on the spot as this (and the AV 150 mark) is clearly substandard crap that would be beneath a non league team let alone a storied club like Villa trying to expand it’s global reach in its 150th centenary year with champions league qualification within touching distance. It’s Particularly substandard because this was not a fight he needed to pick. The Crest wasn’t a burning platform. He just didn’t like Purslow’s attempt and thought he could do better which is why when this abysmal effort is formally released we will have t-h-r-e-e crests in operation at the same time. It’s a complete and utter self inflicted shambles. If I was either Nas or Wes I’d be deeply, deeply disappointed and troubled.
  4. If I was guessing they’d want to cook up a penalty that appears to be punitive but is anything but. I also doubt Abu Dhabi will ever publicly acknowledge guilt due to the reputational damage that would create for them. So any worst case penalty might look like: - Points deduction - 40 points. Something that will look severe but basically would mean no relegation and effective no champions league for 1 year. - sporting penalties - I can’t see any scenario where Abu Dhabi are asked or willingly give up any of their titles won. - Financial Penalty - They’ll probably add a large financial penalty of 200 to 300m that is then redistributed across the premier league with a one off payment to the wider league. This will appear to make up for the cheating but money is nothing for these guys. They’ll happily pay anything if it means keeping their titles. All complete conjecture on my part but shows there’s huge flex to just slap them on the wrist.
  5. He’s already got us 10% of our points total through his contributions v palace and Burnley as well as good contributions in other games. He’s had a little wobble but seems to have come through that. He just needs to tone down the exuberance and the yellow cards because there’s not a defender in the league that will look forward to playing against him. If he stays at the club for the rest of the season then he’s definitely going to make some further key contributions. I just hope they’re all goals and there aren’t any red cards
  6. He’s literally scoring the most goals per 90 minutes in the entire league - it’s impossible to improve on that as a sub. I think he’s fantastic. A complete enigma who probably doesn’t know what he’s doing half of the time and brings guaranteed energy and challenge to any defence. Also it’s important to remember he is 6 months younger than Louie Barry and is dealing with a big international move etc etc. he’s obviously going to have some growing and adjustment pains and I’m sure that Emery and the club are giving him the right combination of support, encouragement and hard line messages to continue his development as we all want. Big call from Emery is needed as to whether he needs to keep him close by to ensure his development is on track - he’ll get plenty of game time - or whether a loan with all the dangers that could bring is the right solution.
  7. Nothing meaningful will happen to Man City because this is not about football it’s about politics. Just the same way that Boris Johnson forced the premier league to allow Saudi to buy Newcastle. The UK government (whether conservative or Labour) is never in a million years going to go out of its way to potentially upset Abu Dhabi who are investing Billions of pounds in the UK. They’ll all let this expensive legal dance continue until no sporting penalties can be levied and they’ll then get a slap on the wrist meaningless financial penalty. the uk govt has already admitted that the matter was discussed in foreign office meetings but refused to share minutes of the meeting!
  8. Just slightly more ridiculous than the penalty we were given v Burnley?
  9. I think some are getting carried away. They are starting to get players back and no European football now so they will be stronger in the second part of the season. We need to beat them at VP to ensure that we remain out of touching distance.
  10. The defensive weakness largely stems from the wholesale changes that we’ve needed recently due to injuries, suspensions and having to play Konsa at RB. A regular back line as stated below would make us far more solid. New RB konsa Pau Digne or Moreno Similarly the moment we lose Kamara we become much weaker as we don’t have a replacement for him and it ends up with us moving Mcginn or Tielemans back and playing them out of position . Resolve that in January and we’ll be pretty well set from a defensive perspective.
  11. He did very well overall yesterday and was clear that they had worked on his positioning tactically as he was far more central and avoided being in the same space as Bailey for much of the match.
  12. Give the first team players a complete break from training and insist they go on a warm weather holiday with their loved ones. Keep the squaddies and kids behind for this game. Olsen cash. Carlos lenglet chambers (?) Kamara Donks Tim Traore Zaniolo Duran
  13. Great passing range but the man runs in slow motion. He’s playing an important squad role so much needed for the rest of the season.
  14. Who’s a yank? You? Because I’m certainly not one. So you want to win all of the cups and finish top 4 do you? i’d love to know which team you would pick for the following hellish schedule assuming we get that far in the fa cup and Uefa cup: - 7 March - Europa - 9 March - spurs home - 14 March - Europa - 15/3 - fa cup weekend (west ham rearranged to end of season) - 30/3 - wolves - 4/4 - man city -6/4 - brentford - 11/4 - europa - 13/4 - arsenal - 18/4 - Europa - 19/4 fa cup (brentford rearranged to end of season ) league games following Europa will get moved to Sunday but hopefully this highlights how ridiculously stupid it is to even think we can try and finish top 4 and fight for 1 let alone 2 cups with the squad that we currently have.
  15. Bett Better that than a deluded fantasist. Emery has spoken often that his dream is to win the champions league. Can’t win it if you’re not in it.
  16. So what are you willing to trade for the FA Cup ? because to win it would hugely damage us in the league and the Europa
  17. I don’t think there is a single Villa fan in the world who genuinely thinks we are going to win the league.
  18. As far as I’m concerned we don’t have the depth to fight on three fronts. FA Cup will blatantly get the ginger stepchild treatment unless we get to the later rounds.
  19. JJ was poor for much of the match but he definitely became much more like his old self in the last 20 min. A very, very welcome development.
  20. This game was only about grinding out 3 points and then giving this amazing team a very well deserved rest. Send them all to Dubai or wherever for a week with their families so they can recharge properly for the second half of the season which will be even harder than the last few months. Play the kids and the stiffs in the FA Cup and hopefully that will be enough.
  21. So what minute does Duran get his yellow card? My guess is 92.
