  1. To be fair to him there are some reasonably good players in that list. Note I said reasonably good.......not world beaters!
  2. Very happy so far. Steve Bruce has always done a good job (with maybe Sunderland as an exception) it seems to me, at every club he has been at.The experience and organisational skill he has, showed from the second game onwards for me. The fact that he has got Jedinak doing the exact role he should be doing for any club (protecting the centre halves) speaks volumes for me. Its a simple move but we haven't had that type of player at Villa for YEARS!
  3. Can we sign Lansbury, surely it has to be possible...Forest and Villa are like night and day as clubs the only thing we have in common is the European Cup We also should try for Robert Snodgrass, Bruce maybe be able to use his influence here.. I know ,I Know football is not like it is in computer games but those two alone must give us a serious possibility of getting second place. A bit like the addition of Stuart and Andy Gray last time
  4. Is his election really going to change things? Or will the senate be able to control him? Honestly don't know exactly how much "power" a president has....but if he really is the type of person his comments make him out to be then will everybody else with any type of influence just stand by and let him do dangerous/inconsiderate/strange things? Am I putting to much faith in democracy? He was elected and it wasn't an army coup or anything like that. He is a businessman not a general....
  5. I can see this point has raised quite a bit of debate... It was definitely good enough to get a point against Blues (score was 1-1), why should we expect more given both sides start to the season? We are not a very good side right now, so why would we attack them until we can do it from a position of strength? Birmingham, when I have watched them are not a very clinical side on ANY day... Horrific would have been 3-0 or more (god forbid) Luck maybe.....a little bit! Are you sure you haven't spent the weekend justifying our performance to the noses they are 3 years ahead of us in their recovery (and might just be peaking!)
  6. I agree with this 100% whilst I love Villa and know the club and team reasonably well, what I've learnt over the years is when it comes to football is I know nothing and (no offence) the majority of other football fans are the same
  7. They seem to have lost whatever self belief they had before they signed for us...... It will take a strong character to rise and lead this group of players maybe Bruce will do this for us? but he will need a voice on the pitch, someone who will take the game by its neck and inspire the other to reach their previous levels. Once this happens the crowd will naturally follow and things can start to progress.
  8. Lee was twice the player! My eyes are really being opened to the standard of player we have been used to over many years and it has always been quite high. Now we are full of championship standard players, it is really hard to watch and Jack struggles to reach and acceptable standard for this division...Hendrie at the same age was competing against the best in the premier league!
  9. Can we just accept that at present Villa are a laughing stock? I cant remember the last time I felt that other fans envied us (even Blues!).... Steve Bruce is a VERY good appointment for us! If he has us in top half by Christmas we should be happy..... Having seen the majority of games this season it wont take a tactical genius to do this!
  10. McLeish was a lot worse.....we knew he was crap before he came. Blues fans thought it was funny and both sets of fans knew he would fail! Steve Bruce on the other hand is likely to succeed! This will be different..... Test will come when he loses a couple of matches. Good luck Potato Head
  11. Considering football fans in Newcastle have no where else to go I would say "48k so what" anywhere else in the country and it is a big deal yes! Can see why they love the fact they have a big following though, all of us football fans love to say our club has the best fans... All it says to me is that for a club with such resources/support one trophy in 60 years make them possibly the worst I can think of to actually follow....How many times have they been let down on the pitch? Imagine the last 5 seasons at Villa then multiply the pain by 12.......
  12. Both Villa and Newcastle have had constant sh&t over the course of the last five years but still turn up in large numbers home and away. Newcastle do have a very good following. The city is approximately 1/4 the size of Brum. So 50 odd thousand each week is impressive... As for us we are very well supported anyone who argues otherwise is either on the wind up or an idiot!
  13. This Just can't see a player in there at all! For me his decision making is especially poor... This considering his body language is what it is,then u can't see his value to the side at present.
  14. Always thought Westwood knows what to do with the ball,I think maybe he is lacking in the ability to execute those ideas. When you watch him he always tries to do the right thing...
  15. Don't see anything special about him.I like his presence and I feel like he is a "character" but I have seen a lot better centre halfs at VP.
  16. Maybe we will see a lot more when he is paired with the right partner? Certainly looks like an intelligent player....
  17. RDM has me worried. I know its early days but from the moment Micah Richards appeared on the pitch at CB in the Luton game I immediately lost a little faith in his judgment. Of course I would not be concerned if results were better so maybe its a knee jerk reaction?
  18. Really really want him to leave! He has completely failed to instill any belief into the players firstly and the club as a whole has taken axwhole new persona under his leadership. They say if you stand still in the premier league you go backwards. We are seeing what happens to a club actively making designs to take it backwards on and off the pitch.Unless this backwards moment is stopped relegation is inevitable!
  19. David Platts header v Bradford City in 1988 vital goal in a vital game, and the first time in my Villa supporting career that I had felt the ground vibrating with noise! Iconic maybe not for every one but for me unforgettable! UTV
  20. That has to be it now? Bolton or QPR will lose one of their remaining games! And we will be mathematically safe, either that or we will match one of their results.UTV
  21. It is possible we will go down! But unlikely given put current points total. I have thought since the Wigan away match that it could happen if it does it is totally deserved as the results since January indicate nothing but relegation and if we stay up some of the sides that are showing real fight and determination to stay in this division will be gutted. That said this is serious now and I intend to get my arse down to Villa Park on Tuesday and support my club.Heaven knows they need it at the moment....UTV
  22. Agreed Kurtsimonw that dart into the box is a good sign! Seen him do it a couple of times before and thought I would like to see him have more minutes.Glad he has and glad he got his goal too! Well done Andy!
  23. I sure no right minded supporter will bother with this!Get behind our team tomorrow don't waste your breath booing a shouting down our own manager and players PLEASE!!
  24. I have little faith in our team at the moment! There it's been said... But what I will say is I hope McLeish rams some of this negativity down the throats of the so called supporters who spout constant critisium week in week out.He is our manager we are Villa how on earth do you expect anything positive to come from it all? I didn't want McLeish as boss and am far from convinced but while he is boss he and the players will have my support!!
  25. Must say I think there is something in this. While I think he makes a good point, how come when we lost last season it was always the manager at fault? I see this too!MON instilled a beleif and confidence that radiated out of our squad, unfortunately alot of the players seem to think that their abilty to acheive left the club with him! Football is a confidence game and last season i don't think i can remeber seeing a side with so much talent have so little confidence in their own ability. Alex looks like he is a strong character who will eventually undo all the negativity that the last two years expierences have sown into our squad. As for the question will we compete at the same level again? I find that hard to beleive as the main players in MON squad are now winning games for the top four teams and not us!
