  1. No shame losing to a much better team. Hopefully we can scrape a few points from the next couple of games.
  2. Not Lambert's fault he has to work on a Hull-like budget, he's doing what he can. Actually I'd say that given the players we have it's remarkable being mid-table after such a difficult start of the season, so to me he's doing a really good job given the circumstances. That said, I thought he was progressing our style of play and moving on from the McLeish's days of 30% possession and lumping the ball to the big man or Gabby to chase? I thought he would try to make the team pass and keep the ball, however awkward it may look at times, so that they could get better in the long run. I understand we can't compete with the likes of Tottenham but why not try to keep the ball a little, try to play football a little. It's not a big deal if we lose, we'll lose a lot of games anyway. Our important games are against the Crystal Palaces and Cardiffs so why not try to play football against the better sides in order to prepare for the weaker teams and hopefully be able to control the games against them the way that Tottenham can control the game against Villa? It's not like we'll play counter attacking hoofing against the weaker teams right? Supposedly. Our style of play has regressed massively this season, that's what I don't like. I wish Villa could play a tiny little bit like Southampton someday.
  3. He probably wouldn't be happy playing a couple of games per season.
  4. If that's directed at me then you've spectacularly missed my intent by a mile. If it's not at me then ignore. Not at you at all, BOF.
  5. Agree, BOF, I've also seen a lot of these 10-seconds-long phases
  6. So if it's a good player who's a cheat that's fine but if the cheat isn't that good of a player then morals kick in? I didn't like what Ash did for Man U against Villa, but all players , including current Villa players, cheat more or less. Ricky Lambert cheated shamelessly against Villa last season at Villa Park for Soton's penalty, but I doubt him or many of their fans had a sleepless night because of it.
  7. I'm not holding a grudge. I don't want a cheat like Young playing for us again. I take particular offence to your comment about my post with references of being pathetic and proper fan. If you can find where I stated I am a proper fan for taking my stance then please point it out to me or are just making assumptions? Ronaldo and Neymar are cheats as well. Would you not want them at Villa?
  8. Hutton's value isn't even 0, he has a negative value because of his wages. Same with Given.
  9. I think you're a bit too optimistic at times. IMO: Guzan: £7m Lowton: £2.5m Bacuna: £2m Bennett: £1m Luna: £1.5m Vlaar: £3.5m Clark: £3m Baker: £3m Okore: £4m Albrighton: £0.5m Tonev:£2m Delph:£10m Sylla: £1m El Ahmadi: £2m Westwood: £3m Agbonlahor: £6m Weimann: £8m Kozak: £4m Helenius: £1m Benteke: £30m
  10. If a single player is the difference for going up 3 places in the final table you take him and count your blsssings. Of course he isn't that guy and Villa likely can't afford the wages.
  11. You realise the second one is a joke I hope? But but.. it actually sounds more genuine.
  12. I like Lowton, but I'm surprised anyone thinks he's a good defender based on what we've seen from him in a Villa shirt.
  13. We have them - Albrighton is a homeless man's Young, Westwood is a homeless man's Barry and Delph is a homeless man's Milner. It's exactly the quality that we need but don't currently have. Still, our start is not bad at all - 1/4th of the points at 1/5.5th of the way.
  14. Somewhere Alex McLeish can't stop fapping at the sound of this.
  15. Yes, very young in fact. Have to admit I was thinking mainly of Boruc, Fonte and Lambert who are no spring chicken. Biggest test for them will be when the vultures start hanging around their young and promising players. The Man City and Chelsea benches are crying out for new blood.
  16. They have a very good team, young-ish too, that is solid defensively and can keep the ball very well. They need a little bit more creativity in the middle, but then which team doesn't? Top 8 for sure, I like the way they play. They could have spent the 15 mil much wiser than for Osvaldo, though.
  17. I agree that the loan system has a lot of flaws. I don't expect that something would ever change but IMO teams should not be allowed to loan out players that they have signed from other teams - only players who have come through the ranks and whose first contract has been with the team. This would stop teams like Chelsea to buy 20 million pound players and loan them out to get them up to speed.
  18. TartarugaJones, the joke thread is in the Off Topic section.
  19. Mourinho sees the Man U job being vacant sooner than expected and smells blood.
