Not Lambert's fault he has to work on a Hull-like budget, he's doing what he can. Actually I'd say that given the players we have it's remarkable being mid-table after such a difficult start of the season, so to me he's doing a really good job given the circumstances.
That said, I thought he was progressing our style of play and moving on from the McLeish's days of 30% possession and lumping the ball to the big man or Gabby to chase? I thought he would try to make the team pass and keep the ball, however awkward it may look at times, so that they could get better in the long run. I understand we can't compete with the likes of Tottenham but why not try to keep the ball a little, try to play football a little. It's not a big deal if we lose, we'll lose a lot of games anyway. Our important games are against the Crystal Palaces and Cardiffs so why not try to play football against the better sides in order to prepare for the weaker teams and hopefully be able to control the games against them the way that Tottenham can control the game against Villa? It's not like we'll play counter attacking hoofing against the weaker teams right? Supposedly. Our style of play has regressed massively this season, that's what I don't like.
I wish Villa could play a tiny little bit like Southampton someday.
