  1. Nah... Don't you know, he's a bust???? In all seriousness, he's been great so far.
  2. When you can afford to pay 100 million on a luxury player (Grealish), you don't really care too much about pushing through/promoting promising foreign youth players by bending the rules.
  3. Defensively, he is exceptional. Going forward? Cash is mediocre at best... Crossing is poor, finishing is horrific, dribbling is non-existent, and doesn't have elite speed/acceleration.
  4. I like Guilbert, but we need to ask ourselves "Is he a top 6-7 team quality RB?" If we truly want to push to Europe, we need a squad capable of getting us there. I also like Cash, but we should be trying to sign someone better than him, not just good enough for the bench...
  5. Don't care who we bring in. NSWE's regime has a fantastic track record when it comes to new signings, so I'll trust them to get it right again. Would love to see us try to sell on some of the fringe players, though. El Ghazi, Trez, Wesley, Davis, Hause (Contract expiring this season), etc.
  6. We need to start moving on some of the excess players in the squad. If Gerrard doesn't play with wide forwards/wingers and prefers more narrow 10s, we should be looking to move out Trez, El Ghazi, and Traore. Hell, if we end up getting 30-40 million for those three, there is enough funds freed up for a quality starting left AM. If we get more than that for the lot of them, we can put the rest toward another fullback/CDM/CB this summer.
  7. I still don't understand why some players aren't vaccinated yet. Some American sports leagues/teams have mandated that all players need to be vaccinated or they will not play/continue to be paid.
  8. He's also almost 24 and not as young as everyone assumes he is.
  9. Yes... Grealish didn't start performing consistently until he was 21 in the Championship.
  10. Missed the first 30 mins. Just turned the game on and saw the JJ goal. Beautiful run by the youngin... How have we played so far?
  11. TBH, if he doesn't sign a new deal with us I can only see him going abroad to like a Roma or Sevilla and we turn a nice profit. He's not good enough for a top team at this point, but it will allow him to get Champions League footy and continue to work on putting himself in the shop window for a top team at some point. I think he's a good player, but no where near as good (or as bad) as some rate him on here. I wouldn't mind seeing him sign a new deal, but on the other hand wouldn't be bothered to see him go either.
  12. TBH, anyone expecting Gerrard to do anything close to what Houllier did is a bit delusional. Houllier gave a masterclass on how not to handle returning to a club you had a relationship with and you'd be hard pressed to find any other manager act that unprofessional again. He treated it as his testimonial and not another day at the job. Waving/cheered on the KOP while we were getting our teeth kicked in Touching the Liverpool tunnel sign and hamming it up for the cameras in front of Liverpool crests before the match "Forgetting" to go into the away dressing room at full time and going into the home dressing room first Telling the press after the match that he didn't mind losing to Liverpool because he "likes Liverpool"
  13. Could be very possible he wasn't interested in coming to Villa... He's the hottest prospect in South America right now.
  14. McGinn is probably the closest thing to Gerrard the player as you'll find in the Premier League at the moment, so it doesn't surprise me to see him playing much better under Stevie G.
  15. Would take Trippier in a heartbeat. I like Cash, but Trippier is much better in attack and defense. Plus, we need a top class set piece taker, and he would fill that role for us.
  16. This will be good for us... Vegas is a huge market for sports franchises and MLS overall has done a good job changing its image from being seen as the retirement home for aging European stars to a vibrant league with a lot of young talent. Salary cap and MLS league rules even the playing field considerably, so I would anticipate NSWE to have LVV competing for silverware within a few seasons under their stewardship.
  17. You're correct. Gun laws are incredibly complicated and very significantly from state to state. Castle/"Stand your ground" laws are in some states and on the opposite end of the spectrum there are "excessive force" laws.
  18. lol... You've just named 8 players of the first 11 as fan favorites... You sound like my mum when she tells my brothers and I that we're all her favorites.
  19. I think every one of them you mentioned (Hause, Nakamba, El Ghazi ,Trez, & Davis) has improved during their time at the Villa, but I don't anticipate many making a fuss out of any of them leaving, especially if we generate some profit on them. The only players I would classify as "fan favorites" would be McGinn, Mings, and maybe Watkins, and I don't see anyone "better" than us coming in for any of them at this time.
  20. A lot only watch Villa matches and only read Villa news, which is why we had so many calling for us to sign Shane Long and Vagner Love for 4-5 years after they played blinders against us, regardless of how poor they played in every other game since then.
  21. Figures. The one game I didn't bother to watch this season they go ahead and win. hahaha
  22. Expecting a 38 million pound signing from the Championship to be just as good as one of the top 3 players in the Premier League last season, who we just sold for 100 million is your problem. It isn't Buendia's... He's playing like someone used to more time and space on the ball with more protection from the referee when challenges come in. He'll adapt to the pace of the Prem the more he plays, but still expecting him to be on the same level as Jack is hilarious...
  23. TBH, it will be just another game in his mind, but the media will be making it out to be his 2nd Testimonial, though.
  24. The N'Zogbia comparisons are pathetic... Buendia runs himself into the ground every single game in the press and has moments of sheer brilliance in every match. He's used to more time on the ball and a bit more protection from the referees when getting challenged. He'll figure it out by the end of the season.
