  1. Rumor on Twitter is that the four were Gerrard, Roberto Martinez, Kasper Hjulmand, and Frank Lampard. The rumor mill said Lampard was apparently underwhelming in their initial conversation and did not bother to speak to him again.
  2. Same... Modifying existing templates/gathering information from previous projects you've done is a huge part of this. Apparently Brendan Rodgers showed up to his Liverpool interview with a 180 slide presentation on the direction he wanted to take the club in and ended up getting the job for the same reason Gerrard apparently got the Villa job, for doing his homework.
  3. He also said with regards to Europe, we'll be there or thereabouts...
  4. Let's see if he can turn our form around and watch how the team responds after the honeymoon period is over. Will be interesting to see how he responds to an injury crisis or when we hit the next bad run of form. It's all just talk at the moment.
  5. What clickbaity BS... It says in the article that he enquired about "his club", not Villa specifically, and life in the Premier League. The article also says Cash had a horrible debut and was subbed off at halftime because he was so bad...
  6. I like Guilbert, but if we're going to progress as a club, we need to buy footballers who are better than our first teamers and not just an upgrade on the bench. I don't think Guilbert is any better than Cash is, and I don't think either are top 6 starter quality. We really should be looking to upgrade everyone in the team, with the possible exceptions of Martinez and maybe Ings. Top 4 team starters: Martinez 6-8th place starters: Ings, Konsa, Douglas Luiz, Watkins - All would be quality rotation options/squad players for top 4 squads Mid-Table starters: Mings, Targett, Cash, McGinn Unknowns at this time: Buendia, Bailey, J. Ramsey (I think they're all Prem quality, I just don't know where to place them yet)
  7. Bought every FM from '09-'19, but skipped out on 20 & 21. Picked up '22 this weekend and just wrapped up my obligatory first season with Villa, while trying to figure out all the new features. I love the changes to the scouting system. It's a little different in my save. Did you upgrade your assistant manager to one with better judging PA skills, to get you close to the actual PAs? Chuk - 5 Kesler, & Chrisene - 4.5 Barry, A. Ramsey, & Bogarde (after 1st season jumped) - 4 J. Ramsey, Archer, 3.5 JPB - 3 I'm in the middle of my second season and Barry is topping the League 2 scoring charts.
  8. This is why I've always wanted Joe Kinnear to be Villa manager. The football might be shit, but the press conferences would be guaranteed to be World Class.
  9. You're right. "Potato Head", "Candle Face", and "Stevie G"... It's right up there with the most insulting of managerial nicknames...
  10. You mean there is football outside of the Premier League? Blasphemy... Next, you'll be trying to tell our corporate sponsors that football EXISTED before 1992 as well.

hahaha. That is true. Most people just assume Rolexes are all fake anyway.
  12. Hell, we called our last manager "Deano" lovingly for the past 3 seasons and I don't recall a single person getting bent out of shape over it... I don't see why it's such a big deal when applied to Gerrard now.
  13. TBH, you could make that statement about any of our players this season. Nobody has really been consistently quality in a side which just lost 5 in a row.

I usually wear a G-Shock "CasiOak" at work, and it's fine for the factory floor, but doesn't really blend well with the executive side of the office. I don't really want to wear one of my Rolexes or my AP to the office and flex on everyone, so I just picked up the new Seiko SUR311, which replaced the discontinued SARB033. I only paid $300 for it and I'm blown away with how fantastic it is for that price.
  15. Except we got him 15 years too late... Typical Villa, once again...
  16. As much as I hate the idea, January might be the time to cash in on Dougie, if we aren't planning on offering him a new contract or he wants to move on to another opportunity (was linked heavily to Roma last summer). We'd probably get 30 million for him at this point.
  17. Kind of like the folks who could never give Smith credit for anything he did during his time here? I was lukewarm on Dean Smith when he was appointed, but he more than won me over by the end of the season. I was very underwhelmed by Gerrard's appointment , but hopefully he does the same thing Smith did three years ago and steadies the ship/gets us playing well again. I don't expect anyone to say anything in an initial club-run/edited interview to massively sway my opinion one way or another.
  18. I'm dumbfounded... I've never seen two teams not want to win that badly before... Props to Campbell and his coaching staff, but this Lions team is worse than the 0-16 team, but for the first time in a long long long time as a Lions fan, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
  19. Remember when Roy Keane arrived as an assistant coach under Lambert and some said the same ridiculous stuff they're saying about Gerrard now? "He's a winner and won't accept anyone not putting in a performance" or implying he's going to somehow going to garner more respect from the squad than Lambert because of who he was as a player?
  20. Can't wait to see VillaTalks reaction if Gerrard does one of the following: Not name Sanson to the matchday squad Sub on Nakamba/Davis/Young instead of the Carney/AAron/JPB Wait until the 65th minute to make subs Not "Change the system" at halftime when we're down at half Play a 532...
  21. Or wait until Danny Ings picks up one of his dozen injuries every season...
  22. This is ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I think Gerrard is a terrible appointment from a business decision perspective, purely because of the risk associated with his inexperience. We hired him purely based off of who he was as a player and 3 years of managerial experience equivalent to learning how to ride a bike with training wheels on. He could turn out to be brilliant, or Steve Kean 2.0 on the other hand, but has a higher chance of just being OK (think Lampard) than one extreme or the other. Do I want him to succeed? Absolutely. Would I have hired someone else instead? Yes, but that ship has sailed already. He's here now, so I'll back him completely until he proves he isn't up to the task any longer. If he gets us into the Champions League in 3-4 seasons, he'll be one of the best Villa managers of the past 30 years. The suggestion he'll never win some of us over is moronic.
  23. Globally, I'm pretty sure they have a bigger fanbase than we do. Hell, Rangers had the only football supporters club in Detroit ~15 years ago when I started following the sport.
