  1. Nah... Davis for 50m+ "Have you seen this lad in training???? He's going to be a monster!!! Get him while he's cheap!!!"
  2. "Still think they need a proper leader - 6/10"
  3. Genuinely laughing at them right now. Newcastle supporters hate us with a passion for celebrating one of their relegations a bit too hard and seem to be desperately trying to create a "rivalry" between the two clubs. I had a conversation with an extremely smug Newcastle fan after the Saudi's took over and he was throwing out names like Coutinho, Haaland, etc as their January signings and that they were going to out spend/bid everyone in the league for players... Fast forward to today and the best manager they could appoint was Eddie fookin' Howe and are debating which of Origi, Solanke, or Wood to sign as the striker who is going to keep them up this season! Us signing Coutinho and possibly Digne is rubbing salt in their wound. I love it. Keep it coming.
  4. Haven't you heard that Digne has to use a walker to make it up and down the left side of the pitch? At 28, he has one foot in the nursing home already. We can't be signing players over the age of 19 or full internationals! If that doesn't make you worried, some bitter Everton supporters on EvertonTalk say he's crap and RafaBall is the only way to save them from relegation. Still need further convincing? EvertonLad22 on here says if he was any good, he'd be going to Chelsea instead of Villa, so he must be shite and the stats don't matter because he fails their "eyeball test"...
  5. Steer isn't good enough to be a reliable backup. If Martinez has to quarantine again after Argentina duty, we're automatically going to drop points with Steer in goal. Randolph makes a lot of sense.
  6. Needs to leave. He isn't anywhere near good enough. Everyone forgot how average he was in the Championship because of his playoff semifinal performance. Been completely out of his depth in his Premier League appearances.
  7. Does anyone watch football besides Villa? FFS, he's a backup keeper... Not supposed to be a worldie... He was one of the best keepers in the Championship when he was at Boro a few years back. Big upgrade on Steer and it's a loan... More good business that doesn't really cost us much.
  8. I'll drive him there myself if they offer that much for him. Don't get me wrong, I like Watkins, but he is not worth anywhere near that much. His work rate is world class, but he lacks top end speed, finishing, and vision/passing you need to be an elite striker.
  9. No to Digne!!! Don't need any more 42 year old players!!! /s
  10. Then you didn't see much of him prior to Rafaball. He's one of the best attacking fullbacks in the Prem. Digne is a huge upgrade on Targett all around.
  11. I'm still not convinced he actually plays for us... Just a figment of my imagination, streaking onto the pitch from the bench from time to time, just to do his hamstring in, and I snap back to reality...
  12. Watch the narrative change to "How can they afford this with FFP regulations? They must be breaking the rules in some way..."
  13. Well said. Probably seeing the first sign of it this season with Douglas Luiz hesitating to sign a new deal. Going all out signing Coutinho, Digne, etc is showing the team that our leadership is dead serious about getting us back up at the top of the table, challenging for titles again. They aren't just talking the talk, they're putting their money where their mouth is.
  14. r/everton is in full meltdown mode right now. Rafa selling him for peanuts because he's petty has them pissed right off. Most of their fans really rate Digne. The ones who don't are trying to justify it with "If he's going to Villa and not a bigger club, he isn't as good as you all are making him out to be."
  15. That's £163k/week - Would be our highest earner by ~40k/week (not counting Coutinho).
  16. Pretty sure if we pull off Digne and Bissouma or Aaron Ramsey on loan, the club's leadership is looking to try to gatecrash the Europa League places this season. Martinez Cash - Konsa - Mings - Digne McGinn - Douglas Luiz - Ramsey/Bissouma Buendia - Ings/Watkins - Coutinho Wow... This squad will terrorize teams if we can get firing on all cylinders. What a time to be a Villa fan!
  17. Lots of talk on Twitter of us being interested in Lucas Digne. Regardless of the cost, he's a huge upgrade on Targett and prior to Rafa's arrival, was one of the most consistent attacking LBs in the Prem. Sounds like he's struggled to adapt to Rafaball and had a fallout with the manager and they've already signed his replacement this window, so it's not a question of if he is going, it's where he's going to. Fullbacks play a huge part the width and build up play in Gerrard's formation and we need an upgrade from both the Mattys in order to continue to progress up the table. Digne would be a phenomenal signing, paired up with Coutinho down the left. Get it done, boys! UTV!!!
  18. Ramsey is very underrated on here. Gerrard rates him and has spoken very highly about him in the past. I think he's a massive upgrade on JJ and can see him absolutely unlocking defenses for fun with Coutinho on that left hand side of the pitch. He is a top class midfielder playing for one of the best clubs in Europe, but he is extremely injury prone and has missed 34 games for Juve over the past 2.5 seasons. He's also on a £400k/week contract until the end of '23, so unless he writes off more of his salary than Coutinho did, I can't see this happening at all.
  19. The media keeps using all these photoshopped photos of Coutinho in a claret & blue shirt and they pick the photos of him where he looks absolutely miserable. Not one I've seen so far shows him smiling or happy.
  20. Still my favorite Villa player chant of all time.
  21. Coming from Sky? Must be bullshit...
  22. Thanks, Captain Obvious... In other news, we're happy to report that water is wet, the Pope is Catholic, and bears shit in the woods...
  23. I don't care about Newcastle... They have money, but their club's squad and infrastructure is horrible. Ashley did fook all to keep the club updated and from all accounts, their training ground, facilities, and front office staff needs a massive overhaul. Just throwing lots of money at players won't suddenly turn them into European champions. Look at their manager search after sacking Bruce... The best they could lure there with all the money they have was Eddie fookin' Howe. I'm not worried at all about Newcastle.
  24. We're going to be linked to every player under the sun now. Media will have a circus...
