  1. I think we should look at some of the "big 6" youth/under23 players and see if there are any good bargains there. Reiss Nelson, Emile Smith Rowe (don't think he's realistic thou after getting all this game time), Harwood-Bellis (who's on loan from City at Blackburn), Tomori (think he's going to Italy permanently though), Guéhi (who's been at Swansea), and Gallagher all come to mind.
  2. I agree, I'd like to see more of the youth as well.
  3. agreed, I think that might be the reasoning behind not having more youth players as 1st team subs
  4. week in week out consistent wingers are one of the most in demand players and there just isn't a large quantity of wingers who can do that. Even clubs in the CL are always looking out for wingers that are consistent. ****** Manchester united don't even have a regular first choice right winger that is consistent enough
  5. I don't think Ramsey is the "cream of the crop" for our youth system, he is likely just the most physically developed of them that we have promoted to the first team squad. There's a reason we haven't seen the likes of Louie Barry play with the first team - he's not physically at the point where he can hold his own with PL level center backs. Now, would I like to see some of the youth prospects get some experience this year yes.
  6. yeah definitely looked like it was a pretty nasty injury
  7. as soon as I saw the first replay I knew it was gonna be offside. somehow all of those sort of replays end up being offside
  8. I still don't know what Arsenal under Arteta is supposed to be? And I know he was under pressure earlier this year, but I don't understand why Arteta isn't under more pressure now.
  9. Mentioned this a while back and it now got moved to the podcast, but Deano was interviewed by former teammate Robbie Mustoe (one of the lead PL analysts over here in the states) and is now on one of the most recent podcasts that he has (The 2 Robbies). Not sure if it is US only but thought it might be of interest to folks.
  10. Over here in the Concacaf Champions League tonight.
  11. If I read that correctly, the rangers defender also got charged as well. This is exactly the problem that will be faced in the near future. Getting evidence is key and usually it is very hard to get properly
  12. yeah I believe one of the quotes from Purslow was along the lines of it takes a few seasons to get back to PL size wage structure and this would be year #3
  13. imagine he’s off in the summer if this is true
  14. rumors that he chose Palace because he wanted to stay in London, so not much we could've done tbf
  15. I wonder whether we will see more of the dual club ownership models like with Reading and Barnsley -- where they can just "buy/loan" their players to the other clubs and help with the financial (ffp if it sticks around) side of the Championship.
  16. could say the exact same about Declan Rice too. English tax + PL premiums especially after the covid -hit financial year
  17. I would think so but then again I've seen lots of Fulham fans not being that pleased with him throughout the season
  18. linesman flagged it, Madley wasn't going to blow up for that
  19. Not sure I'd want him near penalties for us
  20. Every young player has a different learning curve and growth development. Some of the kids I coach over here stateside are further along in physical growth even at a younger age -- that's just something that is not completely controllable. With Jude, I think (and I know I'm not the one you are asking about this but I'll give it a shot anyways) he might be physically more developed at a younger age, but the main point is that he played a 41 game season for Small Heath in the championship and then got a move to a premier level club in Dortmund (obviously known for integrating young talent into the first team at a young age). With due respect to our first team squad, we're not at the level/point of a Dortmund where we can seamlessly transition our youngsters into the first team picture without seriously shifting the level of quality we have on the pitch. IIRC when we signed Louie Barry, I think it was @TrentVillathat said he didn't expect Barry to be particularly involved with the first team for a few years after signing because he had a ways to go growth & development wise.
  21. Rumors about Frank getting the U21 job, don't think that would be the worst hire
