  1. I forgot that Marsch is serving a touchline ban today
  2. I think a lot depends on how well our midfield (McGinn in particular) deals with the Leeds press
  3. the biggest problem that they face this year will be striker. Don't have the goals in the team
  4. i think the squad planner part is going to be a good add -- I know I like to write out on some paper something of this ilk and now we can do it in game as well. A bit disappointed that there was not much change to international management (so far at least) I agree that but Juve fully licensed exclusively to Konami, which is why they were not "in" either Fifa or FM for a bit. But I do think that just separately licensing the game is an easy enough way to get some form of return (e.g. cash / publicity)
  5. Yet again, the next chapter in the Sports Interactive series. Believe it's the first time that it will be released on PlayStation as well. Football Manager 2023 | Available from November 8 Who knows if there are going to really be any major updates for the series -- the most notable one the UEFA Cup competitions: CL / Europa League / ECL have been licensed for the game. Also rumors that Zebre will be gone, and Juventus will be back...
  6. That can be the case for any player, manager, and even owners. Sometimes people just don't like others and don't want them in the club & will not accept them. (we could even think of McLeish)
  7. I'm only speaking for myself, but I don't hate McGinn (+ i don't think this forum does either). What I do hate is that he has been an undroppable midfield player in a team that has struggled in midfield since returning to the Premier League and has now found himself captain when he should be the next one to be replaced / made into a squad player for Villa. Do I want him gone? No, because he has a role to play with us. The issue is playing him where he does with Scotland will find him directly in competition with 1) our club record signing Buendia 2) Philippe Coutinho, who happens to also be our manager's mate 3) A young Villa academy product who has become somewhat of the club's golden boy in Jacob Ramsey 4). Leon Bailey who cost upwards of 30m as well you're also being extremely generous with the term legend, there's no way that McGinn at this moment in time can be considered anywhere close to being a Villa Legend (& there are other players in the squad that probably would reach that status with us first, Mings, Martinez)
  8. echo the Alex Scott shout, would be a top, top signing
  9. I’ll be honest, it really feels like any points here will be a Pyrrhic victory. He hasn’t shown any growth with learning about playing / substitutions (continuously playing Ramsey & McGinn together) despite clear evidence that partnership isn’t a long term one.
  10. This is why I’ve lost so much faith in him. Ramsay & McGinn in midfield hasn’t worked yet he goes back to it.
  11. So looks like Preece (I believe) was wrong. Included in the 25 man squad according to the PL release.
  12. If its a case of not having enough room to register him, then fair enough (not 100% sure on how much homegrown registered players we need. But looking through that, it says we are only using 23/25 of the slots, so you really have to question why is he not being registered if he could be and there is no difference. That would be disgracefully dumb -- especially if we get hit with injuries. And got to say, it's interesting that it is Guilbert being left out and not Sanson
  13. would be hopeful that research would be done into his availability.
  14. couldn't agree more. Always sounds very calculated and is one of the real ITKs out there.
  15. if they move confederations (i think that's the correct word), then they have to start at the bottom of that new one , like Jarred Gillett. who, btw, was the VAR who told the on field ref to go look at the disallowed West Ham 2nd goal
  16. think Wolves might be in massive trouble with only one fit striker up top, and that's Jimenez
  17. I've seen Stevie set up tactically very well vs Man City on 3 occasions so far, and we've drawn 1 and have 2 narrow losses (3-2 & 2-1). I think he has a good idea as to how to set up vs teams like City where we will be out of possession a lot. On the other hand, I have yet to see Stevie have a set tactical plan vs teams around us that is visible and helps us go on to dominate and get a win. This is where we need to see the improvement, as we need to be winning vs teams that we should be getting 3 points from.
  18. Oh, yes I completely agree with this. I always think of it like the best players often make below average or terrible coaches / managers, as they were able to rely on their own ability to get through games. oh, yeah I definitely can see the arguments for how toned down the analysis is. I feel like some certain pundits have the tactical knowledge to go super in depth with everything, and that might not be good for ratings. There are also definitely pundits that I can tell who have almost zero clue when it comes to tactics. It's obvious. Couldn't agree more with this in the bold. Being able to watch and analyze games would be an amazing opportunity, and yet it's so completely obvious that some don't do any in-game research before they cover teams. They're like, "oh, I have a lot of faith that Stevie G will be able to turn it around, we can see that from his playing career". This sort of stuff really grinds my gears, you should be talking about their managerial career, not their playing career.
  19. I always want to know how much tactical insight most pundits have. Because I feel like a lot of fans have more in depth tactical knowledge than some of the dross that is consistently served up by many ex players
  20. midfield looked miles better when he came off. coincidence? He has the ability to make an impact in the squad but he shouldn't be starting every game and i think today proved that
  21. wow. first time this year that we showed fight and had an actual tactical plan. Looked really good when McGinn went off not sure what the linesman was doing and how can the ref not see that it was a backwards pass
