  2. commentator just said a managerial appointment is expected in the not-too-distant future. just a throwaway line or?
  3. Yeah, it's really insane to think that a majority of fans (on here, twitter, and everywhere else) were calling to try something like a 4-2-3-1 and yet Gerrard never tried it at all. First game after he's gone, and the interm coach goes to it. Bemusing
  4. Dendoncker Luiz Sanson midfield?
  5. Plymouth are also top -- wonder if staying with a promotion chasing squad would be better than a championship squad fighting relegation?
  6. dumb, but those most of the time are not given. glad to see it punished
  7. I think the current Leicester form would play a role in how fans would react to Rodgers plus the compensation we'd have to pay instead of their ownership paying to sack him. & Dyche -- what would that say about our ambitions?
  8. completely agree, and would say the same about Rodgers as well
  9. yep it makes sense, and I saw your post below. Think that would be understandable and I wonder if they wouldn't sack him at that point
  10. the problem with a club like ours is -- we won't be able to attract the top of the top for names. And the second tier has reportedly turned us down in Tuchel & Poch. Now, do we try and poach another PL manager like Frank or Rodgers? I would not be that excited about Rodgers with his current situation, and i have massive reservations on Frank but am not as sour on him. I definitely would be extremely interested in Emery because everywhere he's gone, he's won stuff (except Arsenal and yet he had them in a Europa League final). I really like Amorim and think he would be awesome. A tad surprised that there aren't links with Conceição as well if we are going down the portugal route. Edit: would definitely like a look at Gallardo as well
  11. not really feeling the Rodgers or Frank love tbh.
  12. i think most of us would agree with that. I think a majority of us want him to become droppable and a squad player, not be guaranteed a starting xi place as that's not his level. He should be a squad player -- he has a role to play -- just not as this undroppable captain.
  13. he can't survive this, surely? Absolutely pathetic, turgid, and no idea. Clearly out of his depth.
  14. I hope he'll get minutes at the weekend
  15. Robbie Mustoe just now on NBC "Aston Villa were terrible" Completely agree
  16. it would provide another pathway for the club to find and secure new talents that might not qualify for a work permit. Also, would allow us to have a club where we could send some of our exciting & promising youth talent who need gametime, and provide a situation where we/our owners can control. Quite a few PL clubs have been getting into this exact thing and it would also make sure we don't get left behind by some of the other clubs (Brighton)
  17. it's really just the Americanization of the game & complete difference of sporting culture. and all about the money -- that's why every sport is experiencing the playing games abroad phase, exploiting new markets to get even more ca$h He doesn't do pundit work -- NBC only has a certain cast, like Lowe, Higginbotham, Robbie Earl & Robbie Mustoe, + Tim Howard. All of the other material that we can watch is provided by the Premier League Productions. And Lowe is absolutely an excellent presenter.
  18. this is also something I came here to post. They are apparently still looking to secure a European club & to me that's probably the most exciting thing.
  19. Stateside, we had the PL "fan fest" this past weekend, and I just don't see any of the usual pundits over in England signing up to do anything like it. I think it's really cool for something like this to happen here
