  1. Loving the ref’s combover - proper throwback to the past
  2. So the “big reveal” this week was Steve Round leaving?? Did I miss something else?
  3. I hope so - best song ever! Monday, Tuesday Habib Beye, Tuesday, Wednesday Habib, Beye, Wednesday, Thursday Habib Beye!
  4. So what? We're playing in midfield - I'm asthmatic and slightly overweight. Only just the wrong side of 40!
  5. The way things are going at the moment you and I are going to be the starting midfield pairing next season
  6. Sadly Charleston is tainted for me. Walking through the town with an African American friend of mine. A truck drives by with four 'Good Ol' (white) Boys' (complete with a confederate flag on the back of the truck) screaming the N word at us over and over and I was apparently a N word lover. Terrifying, enraging and as I said has tainted my opinion of the place. Do you mean St Symons Island on the Georgia/Florida border? If so, that place is a hidden gem which is yet to be spoilt by over building/commercialization unlike 99% of the East coast that enjoys decent weather.
  7. In 2016 we went to Argentinian Patagonia and it was a great life adventure. We stayed in El Calafate near the Southern edge of the Patagonian ice field and it felt like the end of the earth (you can go further but it gets more expensive and things get less reliable.) Hiked across the Poreto Moreno Glacier, climbed through a blue ice cave, rode some old nags through the Patagonian landscape and then flew up to San Bariloche and drove Ruta 40 around the seven lakes. I think the Chilean side is more popular but Argentina is incredibly sparse down there. You meet a lot of people who say that they just wanted a quiet place where they could raise kids/be peaceful and have a comfortable life without worrying about a lot of the things we worry about in the west. Of course they are also incredibly proud of the fact that Hitler and many Nazi's escaped to live there!
  8. Maybe once we get sold, it's the right time to bring Olof home? Build up a solid young energetic team in the championship for a couple of seasons before hitting our stride with promotion and Champions League domination?
  9. Have a like, and a quote - Savor them baby!
  10. That's very similar to me but I do venture into on topic although I'm an infrequent poster (I think!) I started on message boards when the BBC had the 606 boards. I'll never forget the day they shut them down and that was when I found VT and a couple of others. VT is the only one I'm on now. There is an old forum I used which is still up but no-one has posted on for about 7 years. It's like an abandoned internet mining town!
  11. We haven't got any windows or a backdoor. We've got a few pieces of cardboard and a dog on a string.
  12. Plenty on VT who can tell him all about it though
  13. How do people use VT? Do you check all your notifications, just some or just ignore it? What's your order of sections or do you look at the most recent posts and just read new content? Is there an area you never go in? Ignore a lot of people? Tell me EVERYTHING!!!
  14. I remember France '98 when I lived in London. I'd been out to a few bars during the groups and the atmosphere was good. I just had a feeling that the Argentina game would get nasty if it didn't go our way so I stayed home. Low and behold 'lads' were out setting fire to cars smashing windows etc. I think the Beeb did a doc about it some time after. Same happened after the Germany defeat in '96.
  15. Something Trump enjoys a lot...... Also this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_ratio
  16. So the ITK news that was happening (Tuesday/Wednesday) this week was Round leaving?
  17. **Nerd Alert** It's to do with tempered tuning and pure tuning related to the harmonic series. A modern piano (including synthesizers) are 'tempered' to make every octave 'sound' the same. So G major sounds identical to C major and to E. However the tempering means that things are always slightly out of tune to make it 'fit' the same sound. With pure tuning using the natural harmonic series C major has a different 'sound/color' to F major and every other key. That is why composers used to compose in different keys and the key relationships between movements were also very important. A symphony in Bflat major had a very different impact on the listener to symphony in A major. These days, in many respects keys are superfluous. To get back to you flattening your B in G major, you are flattened the 3rd of the chord which is what every major chord needs in order for it to have pure tuning. The 5th should be played slightly higher. In a minor chord however you have the raise the 3rd slightly to make the chord 'ring' or resonate. Dominant 7ths are the one that still to this day blow my mind as for it to really be in tune you end up lowering them almost a quarter tone flat. It amazes me that the maths of the frequencies of the chords and the harmonic series is found all around us, in nature (spiral shells etc.) the golden mean, in space and the wider universe!!
