  1. Approx 12 months ago we sacked Tim Sherwood after a poor start to the season. Most fans didn't want a manager to steady the ship like Sam Allardyce or Steve Bruce but one that would help to build a team for the future. It looked like a bold but hopefully shrewd appointment bringing in Remi Garde. We hoped it would succeed but look where that got us. New owner comes in and appoints RDM to get us back into the Premier league. I wasn't impressed with this appointment but gained confidence with Steve Clarke and Kevin Bond joining as part of the backroom staff. Now after 11 games, that's gone tits up also. You couldn't make this s##t up. We all want one thing. To see the team winning games and restoring some pride to the name Aston Villa. So, we are now putting our faith in Steve Bruce, Mr potato head, who I have always liked, but whose style of football doesn't excite me at all. Still in this situation we have no choice really do we. He'll organise the team at least, put an arm round some and kick others up the arse (are you listening Jedinak). I for one will be supporting him and hoping and praying that he can deliver because the alternative is much more depressing than his appointment UTV
  2. Not excited by this appointment but unfortunately it makes sense at this time We don't like it but realistically who else is available 3 year contract and he'll be gone within 6 months of getting us promoted
  3. Not all our players are match fit enough to play with all the attacking players he wants to fit in. Championship teams run for 90 minutes plus and our players have got knackered at the end of games. That's why we have conceded so many late goals He's changed it recently to backup the defence when needed. As the match fitness of players like Tishbola and Amavi etc improves so will we....I hope
  4. Check out this article about the Leicester City owners http://www.scmp.com/sport/soccer/article/1907125/leicester-citys-thai-owners-hoping-cash-clubs-stunning-season Imagine this with a Chinese audience
  5. F' em, let them go if they want to go! None of them had any real passion or fight last season, so I won't be sad to see any of them go. If they want to stay and turn it around then fair play and I'm right behind them. I want players who care about the club and have some spirit. Both of those were sadly lacking for the most part last season.
  6. Could be gold or could be poison...it's a tough call I guess they'll judge them on their attitude from now If they don't deliver then they won't play them. They're mostly under contract so you'd have to pay them off I don't think RDM and Clarke are naive enough to rely on them though
  7. I agree with what you're saying. I hope they have a strategy in place, some sort of plan, not just for the next 12 months but long term. It's been a positive move to get a mixture of people on the board who have the football and financial knowledge and care about Aston Villa as the fans do. Only time will tell if this improves the team or not. I'm optimistic that they have enough between them to do what's necessary though.
  8. Be careful what you wish for... RL pulled back once he knew how much money he was losing. Then he has engaged in a disastrous strategy of trying to run a football on a massively reduced budget. Lots of bad or misguided decisions have culminated in where we are today. He is trying to sell the club, but there are no takers. What we don't want is for him to sell it to just anyone like the owner of Cardiff. They might want to rebrand the club and rename us ASDA Villa and change the strip to green and yellow. It's all about money and their investment to these people. They couldn't give a s@@t about tradition or the fans.
  9. Doesn't matter has s@@t he has been etc, booing your own players just makes Villa fans look like idiots
  10. I think Brian Little will think long and hard about who should be the next Villa manager....and then appoint himself :-) I'd be happy with that
  11. How many people are recruited on personality alone? A bit of the old blarney fools so many employers. Let's see evidence of what you've done in the past, is it appropriate for the job. That's what counts. I've heard he's a confident personality with a lot of charm so he's convinced Randy and co that he can turn the club around with his fantasy football tactics. As we know this has failed spectaculary so he had to go, one way or the other. Common sense would tell anyone with any football knowledge that when you strip out the experienced spine of a football team it is essential that first and foremost you replace it. That is where they went wrong big style. I can't believe that nobody at the club didn't try to tell them but they probably didn't listen. At least now we seem to be assembling together people who understand the game of football cause that's what we are, a football club. All the commercial stuff is very important but they are nothing without that team on the pitch and the fans who support this magnificient (yes even now when we're struggling) football club. UTV
  12. I've said it before. If he was top drawer he'd of left us years ago He's the only proven regular Premier league goalscorer we have in our squad...so play him. Yes he can be non existent in games so take him off We are struggling for goals so we've got to take a punt on him.
  13. I think that Remi Garde is encouraging a style of football that he can develop with better players in the future. He's doing the best he can with the current squad. Some players have the ability to adapt and improve with his style of coasching. Some do not. There's no doubt staying in the Premier league is very important but I don't think he will change his style of play just to win games. I'm guessing his philosopy is to train the players to play a particular way, then build on this. If you keep changing this to direct hoof the ball into the box for Gestede, yes it may bring you more wins initially but in the long term it is going nowhere. Then you're back to square one. Better to have a system that will eventually pay dividends. Hey, I'm no coach but that is the way I see it IMO That is why I rate the guy and why I have Hope if he stays If he has been let down and they have reneaged on promises then he has every right to leave. Most people would do that in his situation Hopefully it's just the wa@@ers from the media putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5. UTV!
  14. If Remi Garde left those knobs still wouldn't think they were at fault!
  15. Just epitomised where we are today. A second/third choice Man City team demolished us comfortably. Can't fault the endeavour but in the final third there was nothing That's why we are fu@ked and going down I just hope that Gana can shrug off his mistake as he is one of our players that has been improving Just a nonsense game and that's why the crowd was so shit What a job Remi has got on his hands! I do believe he can turn it around but not enough to save us this season unfortunately Villa till I die!
  16. Does no one else think he still has something to offer off the bench as an impact player? It's not like we have a load of other players ready to come on and do something. I could see him potentially making a difference, who else off the bench would?
  17. I am delusional, SHA fans are Obsessed and he's a prick
  18. Every other team around the bottom seem to be picking up wins which is not good news for us
  19. From what I've seen in the last 2 games we have installed some fight and passion into our game, which as a fan you expect to see. Unfortunately the quality is not there especially in the final third. Too many times we were in good positions and the final ball was s@@t, especially in wide positions. Lack of goals is what will do us in the end. I will have a glimmer of hope until it is mathmatically impossible although I am preparing for the worst.
  20. I fear that no one player will save us, we require a few. And where would you get these players and why would they want to come? Maybe a loan but I wouldn't be surprised if there was nothing else this window.
  21. What has got depressing is the stats the pundits constantly quote about Arsenal and Man Utd amongst others (no doubt) picking up more points at Villa Park in the premier league than any other away ground. Makes you realise that we've been sh#t for a long time. I'd like to see us get some pride back, at least compete. It's been a long time since we've done that against the top clubs especially at home. Relegation is just an inevitable fate that has been waiting for a while now. I don't want us to go down and no way is it a good thing, no matter what way you try to gloss it over. I just want to see some fight and passion from those players and not accept their down until we definately are. Give us some pride back UTV!
  22. Unfortunately I don't think there are currently better options available. We're bottom of the league, favorites to get relegated without a proven left back amongst other things. Which proven left back would consider moving to us. I use the word proven as in someone who has played to a decent level in the premier league. Ashley Cole was a world class defender who won everything at club level. He isn't the same player now but even if he is less than what he was, surely it is worth the gamble. He could be 75% or he could be 2% being purely hyperthetical. Like I said before beggars can't be choosers
  23. Beggar can't be chosers and yes I'm afraid we're beggars Hope he can do a job for us. At 75% of his ability he's still better than what we currently have
  24. Wouldn't be surprised to see Gabby used more as the season progresses as an impact player. He has been a great servant to the club, not consistent and yes frustrating but lets face it if he wasn't he'd have been gone years ago. Still some of our best memories over the last few years and they're ain't been many, have involved this man. Don't understand why after highlighting his obvious flaws that people still slag him off Blues and Baggies fans hate him, there's a reason for that. Not just because he's Villa through and through. UTV
  25. No one expected Bournemouth to win at Stamford Bridge and Liverpool were on fire!...that is football for you...why we love it and why we hate it Just keeps putting us back on the back foot, if ever Remi thought he had a challenge on his hands I'd say it was almost an impossible task Still gottta believe, but the odds are dwindling UTV! Deluded one till the end
