  1. 8m for him would be a joke Midfielders like him are 2 a penny Hoped he'd prove me wrong but he hasn't Can't fault his work rate etc but he is just average...no better than most of the other players in our squad
  2. My first game in April 1977 against Spurs after we'd just won the league cup A big banner was paraded around the pitch saying "Aston Villa fans, you are fantastic" then kicking claret and blue cassers into the stands The atmosphere was amazing, What a first game for a 10 year old Tranmere in the 1994 semi final at Villa Park. That game had everything. The best celebrations ever when Dalian Atkinson scored Big Rons first game against Sheff Wed away when we came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 Happy days
  3. Don't, don't, don't, don't believe the hype...! Typical tabloid bulls@@t Bring back standing then we night generate a bit more atmosphere...that or Russ Abbott
  4. He has never done it for us Had a brief period in the game against Spurs and that was it A liability that delivers very little
  5. Ref should have sorted out the bad challenges that Spurs players had made earlier before the Benteke incident. They knew he was our threat, unfortunately he played straight into their hands. Once he went off the writing was on the wall Very worried and disapppointed as he was looking like he was getting back to his best. Now we're without him for 3 games
  6. Absolute garbage I'm losing my patience now QPR were piss poor and we lost 2-0 Never really looked like scoring Too many players just not doing it and we have no idea in the final third
  7. I think he tried the go for it approach and the mauling we got over the Christmas period 2012 left a few scars. He won't do that again until he has the players he can rely on week in week out. Most of our players just aren't consistent enough and we don't have the quality in depth to replace them when off form. When they click, which isn't very often, they look good but more often than not they look a very average side.
  8. How many successful managers do u like? Not many I bet... He really couldn't give a f@@k what people think but he can back this up with success It's a fine line between over confidence and arrogance He'd have been a politician if he wasn't a football manager
  9. He has done really well to come back from the injuries he had. Now all that hard work is paying off. He strikes me as someone who gets on with it without whinging. Crack on and then things will happen. Lambert even commented on how he was wasn't lacking in confidence. First the call-up then the move to a club with more money than us. I won't say bigger 'cause a lot of them aren't but money talks. I'll be gutted if he leaves as I think he is a big player for us, but if you had the chance to move to a top 6 side you would.
  10. "...and only one man could stop them...Roy Keane IS hard to kill!"
  11. I remember his debut against Man Utd when he was superb and we won 3-0. It could have been more Unfortunately he was pants after that..:-(
  12. Team has been hit by a stomach virus before the game so that didn't help Would disrupt any teams preparation
  13. Paul Lambert has stuck to Randy Lerners remit so that is why he has got the extension. No one else is going to be able to come in and deliver better results than Lambert with the resources he has IMO It may not be pretty to watch but it is where we are. A great result at Anfield but watching us defend for 60 minutes was painful. The teams tactics are improving and everyone seems to know what they're job is Will be interesting to see if they can push on and develop the attacking side of their game without losing the solid defence.
  14. Is there some sort of competition going on to see who can grow the best beard?
  15. Yes too many balls...including his own ;-)
  16. Nothing has changed regards the remit that Lambert had from Lerner. Buy cheap and mould together a squad that will play as a team. Everyone knows their job and works hard at it. Lerner has said that he is happy with what Lambert has done at the club so far given the financial constraints etc. He said it will be a long term process and it has proved to be. There will be mistakes made along the way but this is a steep learning curve that the manager and players are traversing. Sure I think Lerner will listen to any offers for the club that are in the best interests of the club. I still think he put the club up for sale to take the pressure off the manager and it has. This and then the appointment of Roy Keane are master strokes that are starting to pay dividends. Still a long way to go though but hopefully onwards and upwards UTV!
  17. He'll always go down as a really good player for us IMO. More influential than many give him credit for. Villa through and through and scored some important goals as others have pointed out. A big part of his game is his pace though and that won't last, he got in a few headed flick ons against Hull. His turn and finish was pretty smart also. Could it be that they're trying to develop his game playing down the middle?
  18. Lambert proposing to sell Delph, Vlaar and Grealish then bring some kids in See I could work for the Daily Star!
  19. Delph and Henderson looked good together in midfield, Wilshire was very dissapointing though. First game and he showed some other players the way with England... have confidence in yourself, he's not short of that and it showed :-)
  20. Considering the important goals Gabby has scored for us over the years he deserves some slack. If he was consistent e wouldn't be at the club anymore. Depends on whether Jack is a plastic Paddy or not. I'm Irish decent and proud of it but it would always be England for me
  21. Can't help remembering that I thought "that's how sh!t we are..." When he scored against us last year Hope u prove us all wrong TC
  22. He is a Villa player for now so I'll back him as long as he puts a stint in
  23. I can just hear him at the press conference..."when I realised Villa were in for me I jumped at the chance"... Bu##s@@t
  24. It's got to be difficult to attract a decent AM player. These players are usually in demand if they're any good. We're up for sale and have narrowly missed relegation the last two seasons and don't want to pay top dollar. If they get one in on loan I reckon they've performed miracles
  25. Makes sense though...if I was the new owner I'd want it kept quiet until after the transfer deadline
