  1. First half we played really well and they were all over the place 2 well took goals with Hull there for the taking Second half they changed tactics and at least Lambert saw this taking off Nzogbia (still doesn't do enough for me in a Villa shirt) and bringing on Sanchez. Was very nervy at the end. We kept giving the ball back to them which was frustrating. Still, very happy with the win
  2. Just what he deserves considering his consistent form. He should have been selected ages ago.
  3. Don't really see the point of this signing I'd have preferred Wellback as well I always thought he was overrated, still time will tell
  4. We're all doomed... Doomed I say! If we avoid relegation it will be a good season. How sad is that?
  5. I liked the look of Diaz in the Chilean midefield He looked solid and didn't give the ball away that often He's at Basel at the moment
  6. Could it be tthe reasoning behind taking on Roy Keane as number 2 is that he will try and get the best from these players. Love him or loathe him he is a winner and will be respected by other professional footballers.
  7. There were times last season when I felt certain players needed a kick up the arse. Some accused Lambert of not doing this, well with Roy Keane we all know they'll be told if they need to be. If they don't like it they can do one, they get paid enough!
  8. Good signing I've always liked him, technically good He can only improve the players around him
  9. I hope I'm wrong on this one, but this is my theory anyway: I suspect that Randy has got sick of all the pelters he's been getting about being an awful owner. Lots of fans saying that he should bugger off and sell us to a billionaire. He knew it would be inevitable that many would be calling for Paul Lamberts head after such a dissapointing season. He would be put under pressure to get rid of the manager when the he had done nothing wrong in his eyes. Remember the restrictions the manager has been working within regards players salaries etc. It's no wonder many of the players are struggling. Quality players play consistently well, that is the big difference with many of our players. They have their good games but more bad than good. This I believe is Randy Lerner saying " OK, lets see who will come in and is prepared to pay £200 million for the club and then invest millions with no realsitic chance of getting that money back". It's time to wake up and smell the coffee, this is the real world and the Oligaths and Shelks are few and far between. We could be lucky, but as sad as it sounds this is a wake up call to where we are. A club that is operating on a budget and any progress will be slow.
  10. Even though he won it? As did Ancellotti. Can't think of that many other Italian managers in the Prem. Mancini won it by the skin of his teeth with a fantastic side of superstars, plus there were criticisms over the style of play which is to be expected when so much money had been spent. Ancellotti was unlucky but seemed to suffer from second season syndrome. Mancini would equal the Chelsea way, play not to concede and nick a goal or two. Personally, would rather go the Liverpool way, play to win with exciting, free flowing football. Mancini also means Platt, would rather not have them two gurning in the dugout on Match days full stop. No doubt Platt would then mention how much he loved his time at the Villa. Seems to have forgotten he played here. Shame 'cause he was a great player for us
  11. I'm more concerned about what Fulham, Norwich and Cardiff are gonna do. If Norwich lose and the other two don't win we're safe (bar a massive thrashing). I'm not expecting anything from this Villa side. Hopefully they'll surprise me!
  12. Bang on about Lambert & Lerner. He brought in players for small transfer fees and paid them low wages (in the football world). I personally think the fans have been very patient though, especially last season. This season many started to doubt the manager due the lack of progress made. Not only by the players but the managers tactics as well. 36k is a fantastic average crowd when you consider the dross that we have to watch. Plenty of effort but little or no quality.
  13. Got to play Holt if Albrighton is playing. Need a target man in the box who can do something with those crosses. I know Gabby isn't a target man but he didn't win one header last week against Southampton and looked totally out of sorts, as did Weimann.
  14. The crest from when we won the league is and always will be the best one imo. Should never have been changed
  15. Oh i do like to walk beside the seaside Oh i do like to walk beside the sea Oh i do like to walk along the prom, prom, prom where the brass band plays.....
  16. I agree that Stoke bullied us and also expect the same again today Really will need a massive performance from all the players to win today. Anything less and it's nil points again.
  17. A lot of good performances today Just what we needed I've slated KEA in the past, but he was excellent today
  18. If we lose today I really fear for our Premiership survival Our key front players have got to start performing After the no show from Benteke against Newcastle, I'd start with Holt up front. Playing against his old team, he'd be fired up for this one with a point to prove It would also give Benteke the kick up the arse that he needs
  19. We played OK first half Newcastle were devoid of confidence and there for the taking. If we'd have scored they would have crumbled. But we didn't! Second half we did nothing. Final ball was shocking, Bentekes pass when 3 on 2 summed it up for me. He doesn't look interested.
  20. Can't see how he can be any worse than Sylla, KEA & Tonev either Hopefully he gets some game time at Sheff Wed and then after a good pre-season (or maybe this season) gets his chance in the first team. Be a shame to see him leave without getting his opportunity
