  1. for no real reason other than name dropping in front of @blandy I recently mentioned the Dukla Prague away kit to The Lovely Eggs, they didn't have a clue what I was referencing! For all that's happened in the last year, that was the first time I'd been truly surprised.
  2. In between trips up and down the motorway yesterday evening I sat in front of the TV and The One Show was on. First one up, part of their 'panel' on some Brexit vox pop review some female pensioner who's summary of her stance, straight to camera, was: We're losing why we were Great, we used to be Great but there are too many immigrants, we're sinking, sinking because of all the immigrants. 'click' off went the tory BBC I'm presuming she wasn't hit about with a table leg? Hope I didn't miss anything worthwhile. Yeah, I watched the One Show. Whilst eating soup.
  3. ...and the other story states quite quickly that being registered twice isn't actually all that naughty, let alone 'fraud'. That was kind of my point with the 'lock him up' it's all just noise. Like it was when it was Hilary, and Bush before her. But the point I was making quite clearly and plainly in my head might not have translated all that well once I started tapping the keys.
  4. lock him up, lock him up... Indy Newsweek
  5. 3,000,000 fraudulent democrat votes 2,000,000 on the mall for Trump's inauguration 12 likes on VT for a Tony post I'll just leave that there without comment...
  6. I'm not overly bothered about the next story line as long as there are lots of toys and collectables across multiple price entry points. I'd also like a fairly generic Star Wars tee shirt to be available in XXL in Tesco menswear. Not XXXL, don't want it completely covering the belly, got to tease those ladies with a sexy little belly under hang. Stickers too. There haven't really been any packs of stickers to get excited about since the Euro's. Plus of course, a colouring book for medium ability colourers. None of this thousands of thin lined difficult colouring in shit you see now in The Works. But not some spazzy colouring for three year olds either. A nice middle of the road colouring book. With a word search in the middle. Ooh, and an easter egg, in a star wars mug. With the picture on the mug lacking any fine detail, perhaps a grey disc representing a death star that can't take 4 goes in a dishwasher. I don't ask for much from the next film.
  7. Can't beat a sunny winter's day having a rummage around an old graveyard. The church was covered in stone monkeys, climbing all over the stonework. Singles, pairs, mums with kids. Anyway, I googled up that Christover Boone of Exeter / Tiverton named on that stone and he had a surviving son, George. George had a son, called...George. That George, Chris's grandson, became a Quaker and sailed to the colonies to start a new life in Exeter, Philadelphia. Boring Thread.
  8. spending a quiet evening deciphering old grave stones HEERE LYETH THE BODYES OF THE FIVE CHILDREN... 1646
  9. Are you suggesting the media don't have the same access to google that I do? Took me seconds to find the 2002 research, starting from the FSA webpage on acrylamide. The FSA webpage says it's not proven but a precautionary extrapolation of results from research over the last 14 years. Why they've then bothered with the public health film I'm not really sure. The story is 'meh', but people love this sort of stuff. Gives brexit types the chance to say '**** scientists can **** off, my nan ate crisp toasties for 93 years and died when a salad delivery lorry run her over'. The nugget of info to take from this? There might be a link, so might be sensible to eat more raw carrot and less crisps toasties.
  10. You wish the scientist doing the research would be more specific? or the FSA? or the media? UN & WHO combined codex A quick scan read suggests someone with a broadly normal diet and broadly normal fitness has nothing to worry about from toast.
  11. It's not bullshit research, it's science poorly reported. If they didn't research, we'd think millions of smokers died of cancer due to bad luck. But if you know 20% of people that die of cancer did so directly due to smoking, you might take a decision to live life with your wife, kids and friends a bit longer and dump the fags. It gives you an informed choice. That a bit of research might be given a 'sexy' precis by someone looking for publicity, or a scary headline by shitty newspapers is a shame. But personally, I'd rather be informed. I now 'know' that booze, fags, ket and being fat are more damaging than roasties. I'm content with that, my only vice in that list is roasties. The media love to scare people. People love a drama. ...and as Hanoi says, you're gonna die of something, it's just nice to be informed.
  12. yeah, actually having just listened to that again there's a good chance that's my next purchase...
  13. I don't think it would be for you. It's on my 'want' list. I'll drop a song in a music thread.
  14. how many of you are there? quick tip, if you're on your own, it's actually easier to knock one out stood up in the bathroom, plus you can just run the tap and clean the sink
  15. I suspect I've just received two likes for very different reasons.. .
  16. The BBC thing is interesting isn't it. Everytime I watch it, I think Brexit lies and patent bollocks are given an easy ride and not properly held to account. Bitter thick racist pensioners are vox popped and not ridiculed or poked with the stick we used to use to get entertainment out of the mentally deficient. I'm guessing this means it's fairly fair?
