  1. All we ask is go down fighting. Let's not just lay down, let them tickle our belly, and then take it from behind.
  2. We score and goal, and we are on the front foot/ What do we do? Drop midfield and defense 30 yards from goal, and just let them have the ball. It was only a matter of time before they score, and I expect the same goes for the second half. Lowton has showed me once again why Herd should of played in his place. Poor defender, and Luna is no better.
  3. It doesn't matter who we play as long as we continue to play at such a slow pace. We get the ball and allow 11 players to get behind the ball. We try and build from the back and we just can't do it. We have to move the ball quicker. I am not saying "hoof ball", but more direct. We need a range of passing that we haven't seen this season from our midfielders and defenders. This suits the attacking players we have, but instead we hope we can pussy-foot our way through opponents. I know Bannan wasn't everyones cup of tea, but at least he tried to spread the ball around quickly. We need someone in the team who can do that. Delph tries it, but not up to the standard we need. I would give Gardner a go and see if he can do it. Westwood is just too slow, and spend too much time going backwards. Saying that I would go with? --------------------------Guzan--------------------------- Herd-------Baker---------------Clark------------Luna ------------Gardner-------------Delph----------------- Albrighton----------Gabby--------------------Bacuna -----------------------Weimann------------------------- I know I will get slated for putting Weimann in, but let's get him in there and get Gabby making his driving runs from behind. I wouldn't mind putting Kozak up top either.
  4. As you mention yourself our football terrible, truly hand on heart do you think we will avoid a relegation battle? With games coming up I can see us in freefall and the bottom three sometime in January, You also mentioned in another thread Lerner is looking to sell. How can Lambert buy in to a plan when he doesn't know if the same owner will be around? A new owner is most likely going to come in and sack him for the dross he is turning out.
  5. Ironic considering all KEA and Delph did were pass backwards and sideways It's a tactic of his, don't you know.
  6. All I know is he will bring Westwood in to help us pass backwards.
  7. If he can't take 36,000 people getting on your case, then maybe he should go coach down in the conference. Fans have the right to express their opinions, but he doesn't have the right to curse fans out (if found to be true.) An apology is in order at the very least. As people have pointed out, people get fired for less.
  8. It may look cool until someone goes over the top and does him an injury. Call me old fashioned, but he needs to roll them sock up and wear some decent size guards. Wish him all the best though.
  9. A questions for HairyHands when you read this thread. Lambert goes on about creativity after the game and says it's not good enough. We must get on the front foot etc... Isn't he the one setting out the tactics for the players? Is he the one who sets the tempo of the game? Isn't he the one who works with the players all pre-season on patterns of player that allow us to be creative? Our players aren't the best, but they look clueless. They should still be able to pass a ball to a teammate and run around and look like they know what they are doing. You can't blame this on Vlaar and Benteke being missing, because we have been like it all season. The movement is very poor, they move so slowly round the field. How is Lambert earning he wages each week on the training field. The team is getting worse each week; not better.
  10. He's allowed to play without shin guards? Thought there was a rule players had to wear them. Not seen him enough to have too much of an opinion, but can't see him doing any worse than the 1st team right now.
  11. Eleven players who haven't got a clue how to create a chance; it's down to the manager and he just isn't good enough.
  12. Lowton - Poor Delph - Poor Albrighton - Poor Weimann - Poor Rest - Meh! First time I have agreed with Francis in a long time.
  13. A lot of players owe the club a performance today. It's the season of giving, so let's hope they give to the club and not Palace.
  14. He isn't a 6ft plus target-man so he will never get a run as the main striker under Lambert. You're probably right.
  15. Give him a run up top and I believe he will find the form of last season. He has been poor so far this season out wide.
  16. Not knocking your selection but that is such a poor team, to be honest it's practically the same one that has almost got us relegated under McLeish and Houllier. Average-at-best academy players sprinkled with half-decent but boring signings. Out of that 11 I would keep Guzan and Delph in the team with Clark and Gabby squad members at best. Merry xmas. Troon_Villa, I agree, but we aren't going to do much about it by Thursday. With the players we have available It might be the best we can do. The other option maybe bring in Gardner or KEA for Herd.
  17. I would go with this formation and pattern of play = http://tinyurl.com/km5uhnv I would play: -------------------Guzan------------------------ Lowton-----Clark-------Baker-------Luna ----------------Herd-----Delph--------------- Albrighton-------Weimann--------Gabby ----------------------Kozak--------------------- Our defense isn't the strongest, but not much else we can do right now. I would toughen it up by putting Herd and Delph in front of them. Herd may not be as good of a passer as Westwood, but if he keeps it simple and players get open he should do okay. His energy and battling character is what we need. Albrighton and Gabby work hard and will give the Fb's cover. Playing Weimann in the center will help build his confidence back and hopefully get him back to where he was last season. He linked up very well with Benteke last season and I believe he can do it again.
  18. Enjoying this thread so thought I'd had my two cents. Going back to the original post I would try and go with the player I have, but work with them on a better pattern of player on the training. I honestly have been watching all season and the best I can work out is the pass the ball around until you get stuck then lump it up field. I have a more indepth one, but I have shortened it for this thread. If I was going to spend the 10 million it would be on an attacking center midfielder, maybe Tom Ince could fill that role. The link I have below is a pattern of play I would use with the formation he is playing right now. I have also added a link to how I set up the team I coach at corners. We concede very few goals from corners as long as everyone is in position and do their job. http://tinyurl.com/km5uhnv - Pattern of Play http://tinyurl.com/lh2cxgg - Defending Corners
  19. Below average players playing below average football. Team that Lambert built just isn't good enough. We will be lucky to stay out of relegation battle, but if we don't get points out of our next three game I fear the worst.
  20. Best team with who we have available. Let's cheer the boys on
  21. Lots of people with a lot less resources than Lerner look after there family - I do two jobs - look after my family and still have time to do stuff I enjoy. You make it sound like - he has a serious ilness in the family - that isn't something I am aware of. I think Lamberts brief was -" theres not megabucks to spend- but I m not expecting miracles, within the financial parameters I set - you run the show - I won't be around much - any problems see Paul Faulkner... " No serious illness, but a divorce that can and usually has a major impact on the children involved, I appreciate you look after you family as do I, but I don't blame him for staying in the USA to look after his kids than fly to the UK each week to show fans he cares. Until HE is happy his family is okay Villa can and should stay in second place. It seems he has his plans in place and PF is looking after it while he stays away.
  22. ----------------Guzan-------------- Lowton---Vlaar---Clark---Baker --------Herd---------Delph-------- --Albrighton--Bacuna--Tonev-- -----------------Benteke----------- If everyone is fit. Give Bacuna a chance a little further forward and drop Westwood for Herd (extra bite in midfield).
  23. This is how I see Lerner: 1. He came in with MON believing if he chucked enough money at him he would get us into the Champions League. (I think he would have done it too if he hadn't bought Heskey when we needed a goal scorer.) 2. Prior to their fallout Lerner realized too many bad signings had been made and MON wasn't managing the money well. MON leaves after money strings were tightened. 3. He decides to throw money at two more managers for a quick fix and neither came off. Both managers removed and rightly so. 4. Personal issues and the selling of the Browns allows him to focus on what is left of his family. 5. Brought in a new manager (Lambert) with the understanding that he had to get rid of his and other managers mistakes while keeping us in the Premiership. 6. From Lambert's comments, he is supporting him through this difficult transition with his personal support if not as many would want financially. 7. He is trying to get the club on sound footing (financially) while taking care of his family. He has made some mistakes along the way, but I feel he has Villa at heart. He wishes to part of our future, but has decided to take a different approach than when he first came in. This is only my opinion, but it's how I see it. I don't have any particular beef with him as he owns the club and in the end it's his decision. I want Villa to win something just like everyone else, but I am a realist and don't think this will happen unless we are bought out like Man Shitty. I do hope he will give him some extra money next summer when the rest of the bomb squad are gone.
