  1. Some nothing going on but poster on poster abuse. I'm sure I read a post where Mods were going to start handing out bans for this sort of stuff. Hope they stay to their word.
  2. So if the players are to come in when would you think the quickest they would arrive?
  3. Team for me and it will suprise a few. (Going on people who I feel will be fit. ------------Given---------------- Lowton Hutton Baker Warnock ----------------Herd-------------- ----Gabby------------N'Zog----- -------------Ireland-------------- -----Benteke Weiman--------- Team I expect ------------Guzan---------------- Lowton Clark Baker Stephens -------------KEA----------------- ----N'Zog----------Gabby----- ----------Holman----------------- -----Benteke Weiman--------- Either way it's only looking like a hiding so i'm going for a win.
  4. I really think we need a Vinnie Jones type player right now to get under other teams skin's, be a leader and do the donkey work that the likes of Bannan and Delph can't do. Sadly, the only person I can think of right now is Joey Barton, not everyone's cup of tea but I feel he could do a job for us right now.
  5. It seems we had some good chances early on and if we had scored those then things could of been different, that is down to the players and they have to face up for that. The Bent miss was one of a player out of sorts that comes down to the manager and the player. Their keeper pulled off some good saves, well done to him. As this thread is about Lambert I will get back to him. He looks a dead man walking or should I say sitting. I only watched the 2nd half but he has the same face he had over the majority of the Christmas break. That face would be "I don't have a clue face." He is so tactically inept going into the game and hasn't got a clue when things are going wrong. I remember last year when McCleish sat in the dugout he was blasted all over the place that he didn't know what he was doing, he was hiding, etc... So I ask, what is the difference between the two? I know 100% if McCleish was still manager there is not one person on this site who would be supporting him. Where Lambert has taken us over the last month is way more than embarrasing. He has made the team a laughing stock and blown the confidence of the young players who he bought to take us forward. His tactics have caused a lot of the problems along with his team selection. The players are so scared to make mistakes they make more mistakes. He was right today, defending was piss poor but alot of it comes down to the confidence of the players. The young player got through a run of games early on with youthful endeavor and a large amount of luck. The one good result against Liverpool could have been so much different if they had taken there chances early on. Now the youthful endeavor and luck have gone the players don't have a clue. We have no leaders on the field but more of a worry we don't have a leader on the side lines. I'm sure over the next day or two a player will come out and say how strong the confidence is in the squad and it's only a matter of time before they turn it around. This has happened all season but sadly time is running out, not for just Aston Villa but I feel Lambert also. Wasn't my first choice but backed him and continue to hope he will turn it around like most on here but I think a loss to Southampton and going out of the cup and I could see him walk or get a slight nudge out the door. Saying that he has a chance to save it and this is how I feel he can do it. 1. Get a formation that benefits our best players and stick to it. 2. Have a back up plan for when things go wrong, because they will. 3. Buy a new CD, DCM and AM by Saturday. I don't care if they are young or old, experience or not but they need to make an impact from day one. Go a broad and bring in the best we can get with the money we have. You scouts have been working for their money I hope, so go use them. 4. Use the experinence we have, even if it means bringing players in from the cold. Yes, I'm talking about Warnock, Bent, Ireland and possibly even Hutton. They will grind out results what these younger players can't right now. They need to be taken out of the firing line and given a rest. 5. Go ask for help. I'm sure Sir Alex would take a call, Moyes even, they aren't going to tell him how to do his job but from what I hear they will give some advice. He is a fish out of water right now and he is starting to drown. Someone out there will give him a life line. Saying that I hope he can change it round and we goto Wembley and stay in the divsion but on recent performances it isn't looking likely.
  6. Lambert said they will look at signing after the Bradford game and there is nothing imminent. http://tinyurl.com/a5vf4jv Could be bluffering or maybe everyone else is.
  7. After the first 15 minutes I'm happy with a point but still feels like a lose. A point futher away from the bottom three, hope Arsenal do us a favor again. Already been mentioned about Holman, poor defending when he just need to stand the man up. I'm sure it wilbe spoke about. the boys got stuck in a showed some resiliance after the early battering. Nice hit by Graham but it was a shame Herd had just took a knock and had struggled back to the line. If he hadn't been hurt he may have got in the way of it. Two cup games that will hopefully bring us some joy and a couple of strong signings before our next league game would be nice.
  8. Shawcross? Doesn't look like he will sign a new contract at Stoke. Man City rumored to be bidding so probably not worth it.
  9. -----------------Guzan---------------- Lowrton--Vlaar--Dunne--Bennett -------------Westwood---------------- Albrighton--------------------Gabby -----------------Bannan--------------- ------------Bent--------Benteke------
  10. Richard, I agree with alot of your sentiment but Lambert is to blame for this. We has set the formation up from in the last three games and it has cost us royally. Teams have been given too much space to press us down the wings because of the 532 formation. We got lucky in ways against Liverpool and more tactically aware managers have tore us a part. He started with the wrong formation/players today and didn't do anything about it until we were 3-0 down. With confidance being so low you don't set out with three attacking midfielders that in front of a defense that has conceded 12 goals in two games. Today it should have been 442 and with the players available --------------Guzan------------- LichajLowtonClarkBennet AlbrightonHerdBannanHolman -----WeimannBenteke------- He needs to accept the blame and get it right.
  11. He admitted in an interview in the week that he always believes he is right so I would guess not.
  12. They have so much space to run into when they have the ball. This is so bad. Switch to a 442 for FFS.
  13. Rather poor first half but least we are not 3-0 like the Everton game. The players are so nervous the first tough has gone. When Spurs get the ball they always have someone to pass too but when we do, well...
  14. We can see it's a poor first half but over reaction time again. I love it how this site laughs at other sites for their fans over reactions and this site does the same. Chelsea are on a roll at the moment and a team full of internationals. We have been fighting for our lifes the last few weeks so give the guys a break, the game isn't finished yet. As someone said before the game, we won't go down on this result. Saying that, replaced Herd with Delph would be a good start to the second half. Holman Westwood Bannan Delph across the middle.
  15. Yes because that's how we would play against ever other team in the league.
  16. He posted on Twitter last week he was hoping to start running in the next week or so.
  17. He is rather slow, he wasn't able to keep up on defensive duties. A good passer of the ball but if he plays it needs to be ahead of Bannan and Westwood Not sure if he has future but willing to give him until the end of season and not right him of just yet.
  18. Just heard Sid on Talksport and he pretty much said that Bent isn't playing because he doesn't work hard enough for the team. That's not new to most of us on here but it is difficult when he is our best goal scorer. I like Benteke a lot but if we don't score goals we are not going to start games. I would start Benteke on Tuesday with Bent on the bench. If we haven't scored by half time have a play B to get Bent and Benteke on at the same time.

    Relegation

Before I write my piece, I feel relegation is a very real possibility this year and it disappoints me the position we are in. Aston Villa, no matter of our history we have no right to stay in the PL, we have to earn it just like any team outside the top six. There is a lot of talk of who is to blame, Lerner, Lambert, players or even the fans; I feel it's a combination of all four. 1. When Lerner came in the majority saw a bright future especially after O'Neil was brought in. History showed that O'Neil had his shortfalls and wasn't able to get the job done even with the amount of money he was given. The financial situation is down to Lerner, he put his faith in MON and it went sour. We are still trying to offload the deadweight he bought in and the cost cutting methods we have in right now are a consequences of that. We are buying what we can afford right now without putting the club in deeper debt. Lerner has just sold the Browns and might be thinking of throwing money around sometime soon. I just hope it is done with more foresight than when MON was in charge. 2. Lambert was my 1st choice but he wasn't my last either. I think he is doing things his way and buying young players that he feels will build a strong future. I actually admire him for it as I feel it can work out given time. As we have seen it isn't going to be fixed overnight but I believe it will in the end. I do feel tactically he has a lot to learn. I personally feel he has made a lot of poor tactical decisions in the first 7-8 games but has improved somewhat recently. He is certainly brave enough to drop the big players but I hope he is also man enough to bring them back in when we need them. He has some way to go to be the manager some believe he is but he isn't as bad as others make out. 3. Yes, we need some new players in January. This is where I feel we are struggle the most and will be our downfall if we are relegated in May. I don't think it is down to the quality of the players more down to their mental strength. From Wiki - "Mental toughness - a term commonly used by coaches, sport psychology, sport commentators, and business leaders - generally describes a collection of attributes that allow a person to persevere through difficult circumstances (such as difficult training or difficult competitive situations in games) and emerge without losing confidence". We have too many players in our team who just aren't ready, Lowton, Stevens, Clark, Westwood, Bannan,Weinman and I would possibly put Guzan in there and is just from the team yesterday, we have a few injured and on the bench who would fall into this category. We have showed in the last two games especially but in other games this season that we bottle under pressure. We came out full of confidence against Utd and whatever way it was done we took a 2-0 lead. Utd made their changes and stepped up the pace, our player I feel started to expect us to lose and didn't believe we could beat them. We didn't play with the same way after they scored the first goal; the doubts came in a defeat was the only option. Against City yesterday it happened again after the penalty decision, just like most of the fans the players lost the plot. They couldn't handle the situation and we got the slamming we deserved. I believe we are certainly playing better than last year but we aren't able to grind out the results that the older heads did last year. To correct this decision for me as soon as Dunne is back I would bring him in to play along aside Vlaar, I would drop Guzan and bring back Given and from the squad we have I would bring KEA back in for Westwood. We need players who have the mental toughness and believe in themselves and the team no matter what happens. I know he isn't the best player or a very nice person but the attitude Joey Barton has is what we need instilled in our players. He fully believes he is the best player in his position and that he should be playing for England, he doesn't care who he is up against he believes he is better than them. We need to bring players in with that attiutde or get someone in to develop that in the young players that we have because I think they are too bad and can get us out of relegation with the ability they have. 4. Fans, they have the right to bitch and moan but I don't see how it helps. The players know if they have played crap or if they have blown it and constant knocking of the team isn't helping anyone but them vent. We have what we have right now and we just need to get behind them and do the best we can with it because I do personally feel everyone within the club are doing the best they can but it just isn't good enough.
