  1. I see the development squad kicked off their pre-season today with a two nil win against Enfield. The squad pretty much as expected - except no Jordan Graham in there. Anyone know if that's because he is still injured? It doesn't look like he's in Germany.
  2. beating them in their second favourite too in the same summer? Union isn't the Aussies second favourite sport. AFL and Rugby League are far more popular down under. Great knock by Bell. Hopefully the tail can now wag a bit and we can get them chasing 350ish. Continuing with Trent's comments, how much more likable are the English Cricket team compared to their football counterparts!
  3. Yes, Ferguson infamously signed Bebe without seeing him play. But they are still very different transfers. For one, the Dawkins transfer doesn't stink of corruption.
  4. http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/the-daily-itk-discussion-thread-the-bedknobs-broomsticks-edition-2nd-july-2013.98858/page-41 Ha I know someone who claims to be 'ITK' on that website... He isn't. At all. There isn't a rigorous interview process before the title is bestowed. Even if £100k is a pittance for a Premiership side, you still don't spend that sum on a player whose age, preferred foot and club remain a mystery. Dawkins, the antithesis to our transfer policy? Or a spurs fan spouting shite on the internet? A low-cost gamble that didn't pay off. Moving on...
  5. Just scanned twitter. That Julie B character is utterly convinced we've signed him... Raging to journalists about 'sources' and 'spin'. Meh. I hope she's right cos he looks like a baller.
  6. Damned if I know, I still scratch my head when I think of people voting for him as player of the season. Spitballing but perhaps it was due to him being the anti-McLeish player? During a season of stflingly defensive football with a manager unanimously despised, I think some fans appreciated a 'technically sound' player. Given, or even Chris Herd, should have won. Ireland is a waste of wages, space and oxygen.
  7. No worries. The original quote is hardly a "ridiculous statement" anywho.
  8. Probably referring to this one on the first page.
  9. Had a little chuckle at this post, at the start of this thread. A hard-worker who was not good enough technically to contribute here. Thanks Brett, but bye.
  10. Er Cuellar... There was also that Spanish lad who we signed on youth terms. Serrana de la Cruz?! Or something. I think he was the lad who got hyped after an impressive warm-up? Pretty sure he's been released now though, anyway.
  11. 3rd or 4th person not to mention Hutton. He is the new Salifou Ha whoops! An unfortunate oversight, rather than any deep-seated desire to keep him.
  12. Anyone now looking forward to the exodus more than the next transfer? Hopefully it's bye to Given, Ireland, Bent, N'Zogbia, Bannan, Albrighton, Holman and Stevens.
  13. I take it he did nothing with the ball once he got it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vi7m_Pg_cL0&t=4m39s Around 4.40 mark. Spoiler - he scores.
  14. Vlaar! He's a good defender and leader. Unfortunately under-rated by a few on here.
  15. As someone else mentioned, it is most likely to keep them motivated to earn another contract rather than getting a 5 year deal and then putting their feet up. Hmmm. Surely that could be countered by an option for a fourth year triggered if he hits appearance/ performance targets? But as I'm not privy to the contract or Villa's initial intentions and just sat here, widly speculating, it's probably best to leave it there.
  16. Good news. Hopefully Benteke will follow! Slightly disappointed its only for three years. Same length as Baker's. I wonder why we aren't aiming for four years? We'll be negotiating again in a year, if we don't want to be in this position again...
  17. Haha cryptic! Next as in 'it's done. next transfer please' or next as in 'it's off. try the next one on the list' ? Ah, what the hell. Keep the tidbits coming, Richard. I'm enjoying this transfer window so far.
  18. Corbsieiro, ehhh. What do people think about the continuing ommision of Grant?
  19. I agree, but I am glad that Wilshere has not gone. I think Wenger might have rushed him back a little when they were worried about finishing fifth.
  20. Exciting link. I reckon he would improve our first team immeasurably. To all those doubting the possibility, is it any different from when Newcastle signed Ben Arfa? (or BeL Haim, to some). Both played in Ligue 1. Both highly rated young prospects with Europe's finest apparently circling. Both have North African heritage (okay, I'm pushing it). My point is that transfers like this can happen. Ramirez has already been mentioned as another case in point. Actually, I think Newcastle has just been promoted when they signed Ben Arfa? So if anything, we are a more established top flight club than Newcastle or Southampton were when they signed their marquee players.
  21. Personally, I resent young players using our club as a 'learning curve'. Kyle Walker was a necessity at the time. I believe he helped keep us up. So although Chalobah is a talent, I hope Lambert looks elsewhere. Unless he'll sign permanently of course
  22. Agree with the fact Pearce is shite - but he hasn't been helped by the players that are unavailable. Luke Shaw, Kyle Walker, Phil Jones, Raheem Sterling, Jack Rodwell, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck all either injured/'tired' or with the first team. Tom Ince and Danny Rose were suspended for today, and Zaha is injured. Chris Smalling and Daniel Sturridge are only just too old to be there too. Although our ignorance of the benefit of youth tournaments continues to dismay me (compare us to Russa, who have included Dzagoev in the squad - 27 caps for the first team), I really don't think we just watched the future of the English football team.
  23. Only heard good things about Okore and Belhanda. Exciting links.
  24. Who on earth is BeL Haim? Tal Ben Haim/ Hatem Ben Arfa Similar players. Easily done.
  25. A large proportion of that Dutch u21 team flopped in England. Donk and Zuiverloon both didn't cut it at West Brom. De Ridder played a little for the bluenoses and Wigan. Drenthe didn't impress at Everton and Babel tried to play for Liverpool.
