    Back on topic... hopefully Emery can get something decent out of Bertrand, even if this is only happening because we couldn't get a deal over the line. Think he could actually fit quite well into how we are set up now.

    Did a job but clearly doesn't fit our medium term plan. No problem with doing this now rather than leave £10m+ on the table when he was inevitably moved on in the summer anyway. Appreciate it leaves us short as it stands but big difference this time is we'll probably put the money to good use. Wish him all the best and hopefully he gets to enjoy the Championship next year.

    Initially quite liked both, the more I look at the shield one it just seems "off" to me so I'd go with round. The hybrid someone mocked up earlier would be my pick in a perfect world. Either is a massive improvement on our current monstrosity.

    Quite bizarre really, all the PR yesterday looked like a push to set him apart as a sensible option, yet he only thing missing from that same old shit PMQ's performance was a "captain hindsight" reference. I know in practice and policy its business as usual but I'm surprised they've immediately embraced that from an optics perspective too.

    How about that, pick a balanced team, sure up the centre mid and it releases everyone to play to their strengths. All the pundits will start wailing about the players letting Gerrard down but **** that, complete opposite is true. Lovely to see them show what they are capable of when they aren't hamstrung from the off.
