Even that Bunn fella. I’d rather bring him back.

An injured Steer would be better.
  3. Got to admit I’m very disappointed in that line up. what’s the point in playing Ings and Watkins in this?
  4. I would genuinely get more pleasure from Southgate getting sacked than England winning the World Cup, so I hope we lose every game 9-0. (ok I’m lying, but I can’t stand the prick)
  5. Legit? Or convenient timing

    Am I not a fan?

To be fair, the choice is between 2 crests, both of which the club would be happy with, so sabotage is not exactly a possibility. I’m not eligible to vote, but even if I was I wouldn’t have bothered as either is fine in my opinion. I do find it very strange that they would alienate those that feel passionate about this, when the whole point is to make people feel involved. I can’t imagine a bluenose going through the effort of getting a villa ID, just to vote on the shape of the crest? Very odd choice, unless the logistics involved made it difficult. At the end of the day, all the want is cross section of fans opinion. But Yh, totally over-reacting in my opinion. Out of interest, what would you have voted for? @Junxs

well I suppose the fact that she’s on the bench would suggest you’re more likely to be right than I am, but it still doesn’t compute in my (not elite athlete management) head.

No, I wasn’t suggesting you were trying to be sarcastic. That was a genuine ‘thank you’. Turnbull is the perfect example of the pointlessness of the whole ‘achieved’ argument. He has more ‘achievements’ than Paul McGrath, and he hardly even played. There’s loads of other examples in any case, Jesper Blomqvist has a champions league to his name.

I don’t think you need a nutritionist on the bench to suggest the same advice each time. What to do in case of cramp is one time advice that applies for ever (or at least until new research changes advice). What you’re suggesting is like having a doctor on the bench in case someone needs a paracetamol so that they can give the advice that you can take 1g of it. Maybe we should have a tailor on the bench in case someone’s shirt rips? No. It’s one time advice. If you get cramp, take a glucose and electrolyte rich drink. Applies every-time for everyone.

Thanks. And Ross **** Turnbull has a Champions league, an Europa league and two FA cups.

So we’re picking captains on who they’ve played with now? Fabio spent a whole load of time in the same squad as Ronaldo, can you tell me about his leadership qualities? A captain needs to be a leader. Emi has that in abundance. I think he’d make a great captain. The number of appearances with Messi has nothing to do with my reasons for choosing Martinez would be my choice.

I hate this statement, and I hear it all the time, especially amongst ex-pro’s on talk sport. It’s cringeworthy. Exactly what they were saying about why Grealish shouldn’t be picked for England. ‘What’s he achieved in the game?’ How about you pick people on ability rather than achievement? Pick people on qualities rather than reputation. Well, what has Harry Kane ‘achieved’? What did Le Tissier ‘achieve’? What did our very own Paul McGrath ‘achieve’? A league cup? How do you measure ‘achievement’. How does the number of trophies in the cabinet relate to how good a captain you are? Coutinho has ‘achieved’ more than any other player in our squad. Would you have him as captain? No? I didn’t think so.

Exactly. utterly bizarre. unless she doubles up as the ball carrier to save some money
  14. How can any player be judged properly under the non-manager that was Stevie G? Every player regressed. Every player looked like they were wearing shackles. No player knew what they were doing. It was just a horrific, horrific ‘system’. He may still be awful, or he might get his mojo back when he’s asked to perform to his strengths. The point being, let’s see. Rather than write him off now. Clean slate for ALL.
  15. I see him prob twice a week picking my kids up from school. There’s no sense of entitlement, no Billy big bollocks attitude, and is a general nice guy. He smiles and says hello whenever someone else does. There’s no bling, he comes in an ordinary family car. I’m 100% sure that any short comings are not through bad attitude or lack of wanting to succeed. I’m sure that he wants to succeed here as much as we want him to. Sometimes things just don’t work the way you want them to. One thing for sure though, getting on his back will only see a deterioration in form. Which will only make matters worse for everyone.

Gets a total free hit this season, it’s already a write off - not in terms of the points tally - but rather in terms of fragility and uncertainty and Just steady the ship and not get relegated and he gets 12 months of ZERO criticism from me.

THIS. This is a REAL appointment. If it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out. But this is no Mickey Scouse appointment. Utterly brilliant work done, and Purslow is off the hook (if he’s getting the blame for not sacking Gerrard, he’s also getting the credit for this)

Nah. bottom half championship level at best
  22. Ok fair enough, I haven’t read the full thread, and I’m not sure if I want to
  23. That’s not fair and a total generalisation. I think you’ll find that that whole argument gets blown completely out of proportion when there’s a passionate conversation over something. Nobody likes to back down over something that they have said, and things escalate quickly. Gerrard was utter dogshit as a manager, but Purslow was refusing to act on what was obvious. Someone floats the idea that if he can’t see something as obvious as this, then he needs to go. Someone else calls that person stupid for suggesting such a thing… and back and forth until it culminates in a full on argument about something borne out of frustration. I think you’ll find this is human nature rather than a villa thing. People will get more defensive about their intelligence being questioned than whatever their opinion was about in the first place. person A: if Purslow can’t see that Gerrard isn’t going to turn this around then he needs to go too. person B: oh my god, you want Purslow sacked because he won’t sack Gerrard? After all the good that he’s done so far? You’re so thick! Person A: But if Gerrard takes us down, then Purslow will be at fault for not acting quicker!! You’re the thick one! Person C,D,E : Villa Fans are toxic, they want the CEO sacked. When actually, they’re just having an argument because they’re frustrated that the manager was utterly out of his depth and shit. If we appoint a manager that turns things around, Purslow will be a hero again. But If we appoint Robbie Fowler because he won the Ugandan Premier league with the second best team in the country…
