  1. Interviewing/advertising for a new job?
  2. I’m not saying it IS because of Gerrard, but how does this ‘rule out’ Gerrard? Gerrard is pretty much the only thing he got wrong. I’d say that he lost a lot of credibility with the owners by maybe talking them out of sacking Gerrard by sticking his own neck out, after which he found his opinion devalued, and decided to leave as a consequence. Total speculation of course. Regardless, he can leave with his head held high. I think he did a fantastic job, and I’m very sad to see him go. I also agree that giving Emery TOO much power could backfire if form drops, or he is poached.
  3. So what you’re saying is.. that he deliberately harmed his own asset as an f u to the fans? He thought the best way to get his own back would be to devalue villa by appointing shit managers? That’s like a restaurant owner deliberately hiring a shit chef to ‘teach his customers a lesson’. Hold on. Let me just pop outside and graffiti my walls and scratch my car. That’ll teach my neighbours.
  4. If we hadn’t replaced Gerrard, this could very easily have been Kamara, Luiz, McGinn, Mings..
  5. How on earth can anyone be disappointed with this? The mind boggles
  6. We also invented steel and tv. Now we import from India and South Korea.
  7. https://fbref.com/en/comps/9/nations/Premier-League-Nationalities 57% of the players in the premier league are foreign. We’ve been buying football for 3 decades.
  8. Can I have some tips for some stocks to buy please?
  9. I don’t get excited about these links. 99% of the time it was never going to happen.
  10. Wouldn’t say first choice. But not far off it.
  11. Absolutely this. “Nah mate. Good players don’t get relegated.” Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano avoided relegation by winning 4 games in a row including a 1-0 win at Old Trafford on the last day of the season. Wouldn’t have bought them if they went down?
  12. If you traded piss flaps for a bloke with a yellow face and a beard, you’d be miserable too
  13. Just to be clear, I didn’t post that as some kind of support to say he’s good - he’s not. That was just as video evidence that he did, in fact, play more that just 8 minutes of first team football for Barcelona. Give me El Ghazi and trez any day.
  14. Yh. Villa 2015-2016. I think we all erased that from our memory
  15. Agreed. BUT, if we DID buy him.. then I would trust that he he was the best available option out there taking everything into account.
  16. He made 11 appearance on loan to them from wolves in 2022. Including the champions league and got 4 assists.
  17. Actually he didn’t. He said a player from a relegated team isn’t good enough. And separately, that Unai Emery wouldn’t be interested due to his defensive stats. Adama Traore was ‘good enough’ to play for Barcelona. (He wasn’t, and isn’t, but he did.) And what about the other players there? Gonna ignore them?
  18. People can think what they like. Doesn’t mean it’s not a ridiculous opinion - if it’s based purely on the bit in bold. players that have been relegated: 1. Roy Keane 2. Paolo Di Canio 3. Jack Grealish 4. Idrissa Gueye 5. Juninho 6. Adama Traore 7. Gareth Southgate 8. James Madison 9. Youri Tielemans. 10. JWP Off the top of my head in 2 minutes. Probably hundreds more. Englands no.1 keeper escaped by the skin of his teeth. Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano escaped on last day. Not long ago we survived on the last day. who would have said no to Jack Grealish if we’d have gone down? Mings, McGinn. An utterly bizarre way to think. ‘…a player from a relegated team isn’t good enough..’ edit: Adding more: Andy Robertson Kieran Trippier Georginio Wijnaldum Xerdan Shaqiri David James Michael Owen Rio Ferdinand Kevin Phillips Fabrizio Ravanelli Harry Maguire Scott Parker James Milner Joe Cole Michael Carrick Ian Harte Mark Viduka Trevor Sinclair
  19. People are absolutely entitled to think what they like. Just like people are entitled to think that other people’s opinions are not well founded. My actual point is that we would ONLY go for him if Emery is interested. If he’s not interested then there’s nothing to ‘worry’ about.
  20. I understand your sentiment, but you kind of contradict yourself here. What if Emery wants Harvey Barnes? Then what? Is he good enough then? IF we buy Barnes, it’ll be with Emery’s blessing, at the price we pay, for the contract we offer, after considering alternative options available at different prices and contract demands. And on a side note: Chelsea spent £88m on a player from ‘far and wide’. We spent £30m on a winger from ‘far and wide’. Barnes has more goals and tackles than the two of them combined. He has the same number of premier league goals as £80m Núñez and £47m Díaz of liverpool combined. He has more goal contributions than title winning £100m Jack Grealish. Just hold that thought for a minute. And tell me you’re NOT being snobbish.
  21. My my my. Talk about being proven a fraud of a manager. And to think that some posters on here were refusing to accept he was a problem and wanted to give him MORE time.
