  1. Good servant for the Villa during a dismal period. Thought him and Okore at the back two seasons did well enough. Nevertheless probably a good move for Villa and Clark, fresh starts. We have 6/7 centre backs at the club so needed to move someone on. £5 million is a steal to be fair.
  2. Guess I'm one of very few not worried about our lack of transfer activity. Lets be honest Andre Green, Gary Gardner, Adama Traore & Jordan Amavi will be like having new players. Hepburn Murphy you could potentially add to that list. Personally think defensively we're solid. We just need a creative box to box attacking minded midfielder and prolific goalscorer (2 high profile players). Sell Vertout, Kozak/Gabby, Bacuna, Lescott and we'll be looking very solid!!
  3. Whilst statistically being the second best player bar Kante in what he does we got £7million for a player in a position that we are over subscribed. I still think if played correctly Sanchez could be huge for us in breaking play this season. Westwood and Tshibola seem pretty similar ilk. We desperately need a box to box midfielder more attacking minded and £7Million should get us someone more than capable.
  4. After watching today's performance I just hope The Championship level is far worse than I anticipate. Two weeks to get some noticeable outs and some creativity, fight, destermination, skill in the final third. Goalkeeper, defence, defensive midfielders adequate at level we are at.
  5. Firstly it's a run out for the boys. i honestly think Gestede can be effective for us but only when the ilk of Amavi, Traore, Grealish, Bennet, Green are playing (non of which are on the pitch).
  6. People keep saying invest 40-50 million on new players. We did that last summer and have a group of players who just want paid… they don't care. Surely it's possible with the right manager/framework to go into the market and pick up players with the right mentality that will fight as a team/for the shirt at a reasonable price?
  7. First Villa game I've managed in a couple years. Sunderland fans were very friendly and helpful but feel they are for the chop also. Found it interesting during warm up how Sunderland's keeper's kicking was dropping on a pin every time... then you watched Guzan struggling to get it within 15 yards of Bunn (under no pressure). First time I've looked at the team sheet and felt relatively happy. Sunderland scored their first goal completely against run of play. Traore's runs were somewhat exciting but his delivery and hold up play quite frustrating. Thought Cissokho did OK at left back (bar the end). Richards is not a centre back.... never was never will. Get him into RB while Hutton is out. Gana & Vertout played OK... Gana seems really lightweight. Think Okore should be starting every week. Grealish & Gestede are nowhere near good enough. Great to see Kozak back. Fans were absolutely incredible, sang non stop for a good 80 mins then nail in coffin. Championship here we come.
  8. The nail in the coffin guys. It's Championship next season for us!!
  9. Why does Westwood get into the team? I just don't see a Championship quality player there nevermind Prem. Why is Okore not playing? Arguably our best defender. Why is Hutton not playing left back and finally put Richards at right back where he belongs. How is Richardson a football player? Why does Gil and Traore not start on the wings? Im not a football expert but surely addressing these simple points would keep us in the league. If Garde doesn't start playing teams that can score goals he needs to **** off back to France.
  10. I always thought refugees should go to the nearest safest country. They seem to have ventured through heaps of 'safe countries' to reach middle Europe. Saudi, Bahrain, Dubai etc. should be doing more. Europe has dangled the carrot and is reaping the results. Should UK do more? Ideally we should put our full foreign aid budget into helping these people. Should we house them? I'm not so sure... I guess we should have to take a small percentage/share but which refugees get picked out of God knows how many million? UK needs to send aid/military help to those Countries that do house them and help towards making Syria a civilised country so they can eventually go home.
  11. Excellent signing and as some people have suggested it really does complete our defence.
  12. ______________________Bunn_____________________ ___Bacuna____Richards________Clark_______Amavi___ __________Vertout______________Westwood__________ _______________________Gil______________________ ______Adama________________________Grealish______ ______________________Ayew______________________
  13. Anyone know why Joe Cole wasn't on the bench? He would have been the perfect candidate for the last 20 mins to come on be creative and maybe set something up. He was brilliant during pre season.
  14. Worse player on the pitch. Worse than Ayew? We watching the same game? Gabby as much as I love him is our weakest link by a mile. He's potentially an impact player, someone who can run the ball into the corner flag when we are one nil up with a couple mins to go. Sadly he's nothing more.
  15. He's a huge upgrade on Gabby. His tracking back I thought was fantastic. He can hold it up, win the ball in the air, pass not too bad and pace. Just a shame we didn't see any runs, forward movement or shots.
  16. I actually thought we played very well. Was unlucky not to get something out of the game. Guzan: 7 - Reallydidnt have much to do. Bacuna: 6 - Played ok, probably our weakest link in defence. Richards: 8 - Solid Clark: 8 - Solid Amavi: 8 - shakey start but looks a gem of a signing. Vertout: 7 - Some lovely passing but nowhere near match fit. Gana: 8 - looks fantastic too, shame he faded towards the end of both halves. Westwood: 8 - Nice passing. Sinclair: 6 - seemed somewhat anonymous. Ayew: 7 - loved his tracking back, holding up, passing but nothing final. Gabby: 4 - the weakest link I'm afraid. I love the kid but totally anonymous. Once we have Grealish and Gil back plus Traore we will look much better up front. Still think we are a striker short.
  17. I think the team will be: ______________________Guzan___________________ __Bacuna____Richards__________Clark______Amavi__ ____________________Sanchez____________________ ___________Gana________________Westwood_______ ____________________Sinclair_____________________ _____________Gabby_________Ayew_______________
  18. It's probably Lescott (which would have made sense providing Baker had left) but now you would feel we have too many CB's unless Crepo /Richards playing right back or Baker now backup to Amavi at Left back?! Hutton, Bacuna, Amavi, Bennett, Cissokho, Richardson, Baker, Clark, Richards, Okore, Senderos, Crespo, Donacien. I think you only need 8/9 at the back to cover all defensive positions. Means 4 or 5 of that list needs moved on.
  19. I can see us playing 2 unfront with an attacking midfielder just behind (Gil/Grealish). ___________________Guzan__________________ __Hutton____Richards_______Clark_____Amavi__ ___________Gana___Sanchez___Veretout_______ ____________________Gil____________________ _____________Gestede___Ayew_______________
  20. Adeybayor would be a truly horrific signing. If this is villas direction then I can't be arced with next season.
  21. I would be truly flabbergasted if we don't complete at least a couple top signings before Saturday. We've known Benteke's Villa stint was over weeks ago. Villa should have deals in place, players in position and all they need is signatures and pictures.
  22. He's not a villa player in my eyes now anyway. I've seen more breaking news and sources to last a lifetime.
  23. Presume Praet plays behind the strikers. If this is the case Sherwood on avfc.co.uk talking about Gil playing No.10 and as a result not needing to buy in that position........
  24. As much as I rate Adam Rooney for Aberdeen would be a terrible signature for Villa. I like Nial McGinn but again he's NI international and wouldn't get a game at Villa. As Villa Chris said SPL is the Pitts. I can only imagine it being Ryan Jack… early 20's, can't be far off call up for Scotland. When a massive Villa fan sees a guy in the directors box with a Villa gilet on and a notepad at the most randomness of stadiums, one has to investigate. Chief Scout at Villa… don't know name but will try and find a picture and post.
  25. Not sure if he's captain/new contract. Ryan Jack is only a presumption as often linked with move south of border. I quite like Shay Logan, attacking right back. But yeah after watching the game tonight can't see our chief witnessing anything too worthy of a move but you never know. I guess the odd squad player with potential is never off the cards…
