Can’t say I expected anything else to be honest. Thought Davis was good when he came on. VAR really is against us at the moment. Honourable mention to Gilbert who I thought was very good marking the inform player in Europe currently.

Thank goodness for that! You have to win ugly at times and that’s what we did. If El Ghazi had put that chance in at the beginning of the second half would have been much easier!

No doubt he’s very good offensively compared to Taylor but he’s not had to defend against much in those games. Let’s see what we think after the next three games.

Wesley MoM for me due to his two goals, but more importantly his non stop running , tracking back. However, it was a hair’s breadth from Marvelous who is a very, very, very tidy player. Absolute bargain.

Thought he was very accomplished in breaking up the play. Will get better at finding team mates when he gets more comfortable with his team mates. For me I've got hm ahead of Luiz because his starting positions give us options whereas Luiz sits on or between the centre halves allowing the opposition to take advantage of the lack of a midfielder.

Thought Nakamba looked good, takes a more forward position than Louis. Engles strong as was Guilbert. We need to believe in ourselves and that we belong in this league. On occasions we were running back as a team to take up our positions forgetting to challenge the player with the ball. Can’t do that at this level.

After calming down enough to come on this site I wanted to offer a point on DL. One of the reasons I think we didn’t play well was due to his positional play. The number of times he came back to get the ball and ended up between the centre half’s and on occasions behind them gave Palace a numerical advantage in the midfield making it easier to win second balls and build up pressure. He needs to learn to find space in front of Mings and Engles which will ease the pressure. Think in time it will come but we have enough options to swap it around, which I think we should for the next game and give Douglas further time to understand the role we need him to play.

We didn’t play well, we come away with a point and it’s something to build on. Friend......what a complete joke.

Keep it tight and a clean sheet and we’ll get a couple at some point.

Just adding to the sentiments previously posted but this guy is no amateur. He knows his stuff, is articulate in his arguments, and has clearly bought int Aston Villa. He will go on to do well for himself in whatever he choses on the future, which I hope is a long way off but for now loving the professionalism he brings to the club. First time ever in my opinion.

Whilst I agree with you fundamentally. Have a look at the number of chances Red Bull had from Targett doing the same thing. I think thats why Taylor got the nod on Saturday.

There’s some drama queens on here at times. How anyone can make an assessment of a player based on 30 mins is beyond me. Let’s see what people’s opinions are at the end of the season. I’m betting on him being seen as a positive signing.

After watching Norwich last night I was afraid. However, after that 90 minutes where I was for 70 mins dreaming of taking 3 points, i’m very much looking forward to this season. I don’t think we’ll finish top half but we won’t be far away. Then time to push on.
