  1. It would be interesting to see if some means of limiting the transfers a team can make per season depending on different factors could work... For instance: Winning the league means that you can only sign one player the following season... If you wish to sign any more, you need to sell or release or have a member of your declared squad from the previous season retire... For example: Liverpool win the league this year, and they fancy signing Akinfenwa (why not?)... They won the league, so thats their signing... If they wanted to sign Mbappe, they would then have to part with a member of their squad who was named in their title winning team... Teams in second can sign two, Third sign three etc etc All the way down to I dunno... 10th... This would mean that teams who benefit from Financial Fair Play and ruling the roost couldnt just buy every player, horde youth and farm them out for loans; they would have their hands forced to either play them or sell them...
  2. Of that list, I'd keep Elmo, Conor, Sarkic and Davis to be honest... Elmo is still useful as a right back and knows how to ping a ball into the box, Conor can still play and is a nifty option and Sarkic and Davis can still develop with us or be sent out on loan... The rest are pretty much deadweight
  3. Spurs... They will do damn near anything for money...
  4. I am a Smith fan, but this is an interesting question: Rafa Benitez, Mauricio Pochettino and Chris Wilder would be my first choices... Not in that particular order either...
  5. Probably because we were so very very close to selling Grealish to Spurs then refused the deal at the last minute... Levy probably has many friends in many high places that didn’t like seeing their mate being made to look a prick... Plus the fact, teams from the West Midlands aren’t meant to be successful... it’s not fashionable... Only London teams and teams in the North West are allowed to have nice things and good players...
  6. I don't... I want to see his talent with us... Like Le Tissiers talent stayed at Southampton, Tottis talent stayed at Roma and Maldinis talent stayed at Milan... I don't want to see Grealish in any other teams shirt than Villas and Englands... If he does leave like Mellberg, Albrighton or Weimann (abroad or forced out through not being given a new contract) - I would wish him a fond farewell... But as soon as he does a Yorke or Barry, he can get ****...
  7. Awesome! On the 1000th page! A moment of history... Just like when Dean Smith engineered our unlikely promotion back to the Premier League!
  8. Because he knows what it means to truly love and support the club... This would be the one job he always dreamed of having (level pegging with England maybe)... You would hope he wouldnt even contemplate gambling our long term future for his own benefit... As much as I enjoyed the (relative) success of the MON days... He spunked money up the wall which we couldnt afford in the hopes of boosting his ego and making himself look successful... I would be incredibly diappointed if Deano did that... Simply because he knows what it is to be a Villa fan...
  9. He was our standout player in what was arguably one of the most depressing seaons I have ever witnessed being a Villa fan... Sacrificed the longevity of his career because Steve Bruce asked him to and we needed him... I'll always love James Chester... What a guy!
  10. This... All day long... I'd loathe to see him in a kit playing for another English club... Go abroad by all means, win trophies, medals, Champions Leagues, whatever... But if he plays football in England, it should only ever be for us...
  11. Was speaking to my brother after the game... He was spot on when he said “Mike Dean always seems to pick a side to get all the decisions and the rub of the green... It might not be deliberate, but he always does it” Last night, Leicester kicked us all over the place... That Turkish defender of theirs who clattered Jack twice should have been sent off... but we won... and Elmos cross was magnificent!
  12. I can't believe he is only 27... He looks like he should be in his 40s!
  13. If only Randy Lerner wasnt such a complete and utter stain and had actually invested in proven quality for us in our later years; Traore might never have left... He's become some player!!!
  14. I couldn't agree more... I actually really like the bloke as a player... He is learning the ropes in a league that is infinitely more intense than anything he has played in before and is working his arse off for the team... I've said before that sometimes his application can be a bit suspect, but he doesn't down tools when things go wrong - One of the hardest workers in the squad IMO
  15. I probably ended up cackling at that way more than I should have... Proper tickled me!
  16. I had no doubts about this signing... Far too much experience in a catalogue of elite competitions playing for some of the best clubs in the game... and now he is here... with us... in a Villa shirt! Its only 6 months, but the experience and knowledge that he can pass on to our players (including the more experienced ones like Heaton) is worth it’s weight in platinum!
  17. I'd be happy we won the World Cup, but I'd loathe the fact it took a Spurs player to do it... Spurs fans would never shut the **** up and they are, without a doubt, some of the biggest scumbags I have ever met... Entitled, delusions of grandeur... rocket polishers basically... The equivalent of a Liverpool fan but in a white shirt and with a Londoners accent...
  18. Thats a bit of a long shot as far as shades are concerned... Carew had played for some of the biggest clubs in Spain, Italy and France and was a relatively well known name across the continent... OK, Norway aren't an international powerhouse in the grand scheme of things - but they have certainly produced some very good players over the years... More-so than Tanzania... So being an experienced international striker for Norway carries a lot more weight, in my opinion. I'm struggling to think of another Tanzanian footballer that I may have heard of... However, now we have a Tanzanian footballer playing for us... an experienced one at that... and he is his national teams striker in the prime of his career and has joined us from a club playing in the Champions League (as you said)... So I support him!
  19. This is how we are going to beat FFP... Sign players from countries with very few (if any) current or historical ambassadors to the Premier League and boost shirt sales!
  20. To be fair, if you dislike a team, you dislike them... I hate Spurs and refuse to celebrate when one of their players scores for England... and I probably would do the same for a Blues player in an England shirt... But none of them get that far, so haven't experienced it yet...
  21. Wesley was starting to improve... It was Ben Mee that ran him into the ground...
  22. Not looking good for Smith at all... He is looking out of his depth and like he is running out of ideas... As much as I love him for what he did for us last season... Something has got to give...
  23. This!!! i don’t care how good he can be, all I care is that he is playing for us... I’m not even a football fan... I’m a Villa fan... The success of other clubs and players playing for those clubs doesn’t concern me... especially if it’s to the detriment of us!
