The turn over of managers and there back room staff must have caused havoc. If Lambert's rules are implemented right through the club, I expect to see some solid results out of the Academy in the next few years. I love these type of signings, that takes big balls, self belief & vision, who are big name players that PL might sign?? I bet lambert would have Milner back given the chance as he's not a big time Charlie. The likes of Downing, his card is marked, he just used us as a stepping stone, therefore will never have the Hunger to play for Villa again. I think I understand the cruch of lamberts philosophy, get players that are honored to pull on the shirt Versus getting paid to put on the shirt. As much as I wanted the likes of Owen and Adam in the squad, neither would have the heart to come and prove them-self. It's a nerve wracking time, PL being new, the style of play and the old fashioned manner of buying new talent, not big name rejects. It will take time to gel, but once it does, I believe we will be a solid premiership second tier team again fighting for Europe. These are a great set of stats, Unfortunatly content is not overly impressive though. The territorial advantage against possession % ratio tells how much time we spent in our half. Pass to cross ratio against West Ham's is alarming. I wish I was not on an iPad, I'd have some fun on excel. I have never found stats like this, not that I hunt for them, where did you get them? Up the Villa!

I understand your point, but your applying a long term plan to a very short term goal. PL really needs time to see the character of each player before he can really deside the best way to move forward. I'm looking forward to seeing what Henke brings to us, but let's face it, we have seen scouts before come in and deliver next to nothing. This will be a building season, research the current squad in the first half. Therefore I expect Christmas will be busy for us.

Based purely on today.... Is Bent too much of a Luxury player for us? In fact our best attacking force is rather light weight, luxury, when it comes to getting the ball back. Back to Bent, yes he can score. But what does his lack of assistance in the buildup cost us in overall attacking opportunities? Lucky for us, PL knows a lot more about footie than me! But I think Owen, Keane and Johnson would strengthen our attacking options massively on a day like today. But let's face it, we were toothless. Last point, how hard was it to support the team in bright green against the team in a villa kit! Lucky it's only a couple of time per year!
