  1. Not a fan of two upfront, don't you think it will leave the midfield a little light weight? Its one thing if you dominate the match, but last face; it statistically our team doesn't quite walk the walk. That Neymar bloke looks ok from dead ball (just scored 2-1 Brazil v Belarus)...... He could get on our bench...
  2. Is it not time for some ITK factious links, these guys make my summer tick, I wish they didn't get abused for sharing a story from a friend of someone's aunts Ethel... It's great to see us linked with anyone and everyone, as long as Lambert knows what's going on, that's all that really matters. All you ITK's please come back, spin your yarns & be a hero if your correct, I love them all!
  3. It's not going to happen, but I was waiting to here some sort of swap, Bent for Carroll
  4. Champions League = 4 spots, league Champions & Runner Up, FA Cup, League Cup. if a team wins multiple spots it get allocated to next available league position. UAFA should keep four spots, two for the Champions league winner and runner up, and two for the Champion and runner up of the UAFA (Europa) Cup. But its possible the one country COULD have 8 spots, in one season... But in that case, the earned it right? I would LOVE it if we won the Europa Cup, all that stuck up crap..... I want Villa to win anything they can! As this is "Transfer Speculation thread with guff from twitter" I speculate someone will transfer their hard earned money into an ice cold Stella this evening, with Wall Street Journal (@WSJ) 7/14/12 12:13 Apollo Weighs Bid For McGraw Unit on.wsj.com/MtFvBN
  5. Slightly off topic, When did our badge officially become a "Crest". Crest sounds so.... American. Maybe we can scrap this rubbish amateur "Crest" ( the Bosko Balaban of Badges) and bring back a proper badge, round, simple and says Aston Villa on it!
  6. Anyone got suggestions for the Phillie match, I was going to drive down from NYC with the family, so rules out the drinking sesh. But if anyone has arranging a bus from NYC I'd love to do it right.
  7. Without doubt the Collymore signing was the most exciting signing we ever made, like AVFCLEE says. He was like a padded wonder bra after a night at the student union, a Massive disappointment after the unveiling.
  8. Taking the emotion out, imagine our squad with... First Team Sturridge, Downing, Milner, Young, Barry, Walker and Cahill Squad players. Guzan, Mellberg and Bouma. Edit: we could even add Bosko Balaban to that team above and give most teams a good game.
  9. Deano was the fastest to pay off! Remember Mark Walters playing in red (well green) and THE miss! I know someone out there has done this research, which team do you think has provided the most in numbers of successful signings in recent history? Celtic, with Rambo and Stan, or Newcastle, with Solano and Milner...
  10. "Tbh, he is just not a footballer." ??? Who are you talking about?... The guy on the TV, playing in the Euros for his country? The same one that is linked with a load of teams across Europe? Twerp!
  11. Blahhhh... Super safe kit..... I hoped they might try something new, but nahhhhh... The away kit is an away kit...... Green..... Hmmm.... This kit is perfect for an AMc team.

  13. Thank you KMac, hopefully your next role will prove to everyone what we missed. Thank you,
  14. Let's face it, anyone that went to more than a couple of games last season is either a proper fan, gets lots of free tickets or is certifiable. It was torture to watch on the goggle box never mind on a mid week freezing cold night, having forked out a small fortune witness us get spanked, 0-0. So maybe you proper fans are really just certifiable! I wish I was too...
  15. 100% behind the dugout change, but wonder what the original reasoning was to have the North Stand side, a shorter walk? I love the idea of creating a Them and Us atmosphere, its a small facet but a step in the right direction. Regarding the away fans that people have mentioned , not really the right topic for this comment, but I miss the away fans behind the goal, that stomach curning delay as the away fans jump up, then the delayed roar before it reached the Holte. That split second took ages everytime, adding to that sickening emotional low. Its just not so now, not that its not sickening... The away fans are a vital part of the atmosphere, and a massive part of the match experiance is lost with them in the corner, but if it benefits the team... Sorry if you sit in the lower North stand, but to be honest, I'd rather the Holte was always packed and Villa Park had one massive loud voice. Up the Villa! The dark clouds are passing bye!
  16. Sorry if someone has already shared this Guardian article, it talks about his tactics. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/feb/13/paul-lambert-norwich-swansea Sorry, it's the first time I have posted a link.
  17. Wonderful news! We have a manager that wants to win and play proper footie! One slight worry for us regarding our history with Scottish managers though.... But I wouldn't be a Villa fan of I didn't moan about something The Villa are Back! The Villa are Back!
  18. Normandy, don't joke about Ronaldo, we still might get the first version out of retirement from Brazil...
  19. I'm still gutted about OGS, the wind totally out of my sails. Fingers crossed Randy recognizes the potential cross roads here and busts a nut, pulls out his cheque book and get AVB. No one else inspires me at all. Di Canio might be fun at least!...
  20. Sounded like the Portsmouth fans made the most of it.. At least they got to enjoy matches, versus endure them.
  21. It sounds like we won't hear anything until Friday, OGS said that he was focusing on the next two games, I believe the second match is on Friday. It would be strange if they disrupted that basic outline. So it looks like a long week of fruitless F5 pressing.
  22. The dark clouds have cleared! Ohh what was the name of that ginger manager we had? He was really rubbish! Just can't think of his name!
  23. Great point, even this mistake, really would be an improvement. Imagine if he just walked in to the changing room and said. "When you get the ball pump it into the box, I'm bound to stick a couple away at least". Can someone suggest to randy he promotes Bent director of Football and puts OGS as the manager though. Up the Villa!
  24. Still think I'd favor AVB because of the greater experience, both good and bad. For the short term. But OGS just seems right for some reason. Both have as much to prove for different reason, each as valid. Off topic but valid for a sec. Reading people coment we're not Man U or Liverpool, we really really could be! We used to be! (a long time ago granted..) With the right manager we really really could be Massive Again. (not that I really want that) If we get any one of these real candidates, and they are given the support & patience from both fans and board we could bring back the glory years of winning the European cup again, add to our 7 league titles, how many times have we won the FA cup? An eighth would be great, We have done it before, why not again? (random flash back - Do you remember the feeling when Stan Staunton stuck that pile driver on the back of the net that sunny sunday afternoon at Old Trafford? I want that feeling again) I think OGS is more likely to be the man that inspires the city to get behind the team again, not like Big Ron did, but in his own way. Fingers crossed OSG comes and stays for years, (even as a player at Man U I couldn't help but like him) If we get AVB he will be gone after one really good season. OSG, I think he can make us as big as his ambitions, the funding will be available as he earns it. (watch, now we get Mick McCarthy as Emperor for Life!) Can't end on a negative.... Ummm.... Up the Villa!
