I agree to an extent but.. my opinion is based on who is at the club.. and i dont think we have anyone better back to wall.. he keeps possession well.. well he has in pre season since hes been fit again. I remember when MON had him upfront on his own in that 451 formation and he was doing really well. We need a target man imo. Benteke style (obviously not as good)

Almost.. my main concern with him is how many games he will play.. ill answer at the end of the season.

Wonder why he doesnt get a chance? looks a real talent. Hope he goes out on loan at least.

Like the look of him but he needs a season out on loan again and needs to bulk up.

His kicking is really accurate!! Must be out number 2 and could actually push Johnstone. Not very commanding on crosses though. Bunn should be sold with the young Sarjkic as number 3.

I know hes old.. but wow what composure on the ball. I honestly havent seen a Villa defender like it. As great as defenders as we have had in the past (didnt see much of McGrath sadly) but wow.. i dont think JT has ever lost the ball when in possession.

Wont worry about him coming on for our starting CB.. Nor Baker. Great to have. When Baker was out and i saw Elphick or RIchards coming on last season.. my confidence was dented.. im sure thats how the players felt.

I really do like him as a player.. believe he has all the attributes.. I want him to succeed... but i just cant see it. He just drifts in and out of games. Needs to be fitter and demand the ball.. he needs to run the side. Spread the ball around.. get in the box.. work hard off it. I just dont see it his game sadly. These things can be coached but he just doesnt do what needs to be done to be an effective player. -
I am so over watching him play. I appreciate he plays and gives it his all.. but so would i. Doesnt mean its good enough. He had a so called purple patch last season.. but for mine.. we are well covered with Bree De Laet Elmo and even Bacuna. Release him and free up the wages. Give the wing spot to a proper winger and let Elmo attack from the back.

hate to say.. but he is our best link up striker.. he can hold the ball up and hes mobile........... until we sign someone better.. he may need to be starting more games than he should. Kodjia----------Gabby---------Hogan in a 433.

I think its fair to say.. lets see what happens in 2 months and go from there. Judging too early in the pre season.. win or loss... let the real stuff begin. He gave a chance to a few kids who have impressed.. i doubt he will give them a go unless we have a few injuries.. but good to see. We havent played 352 as yet.. which is also positive.. surely with the back 4 we have.. we dont need it.. We arent Cardiff City hoping to scrap it. We should look to dominate. I hope he doesnt pull out the 352 vs HUll when we have been training something else this whole pre season!

Look hes our most valuable player to get rid of at the moment and he will likely be a back up. If we can get a decent price i would sell. Love to keep him though

Wow very impressed with Wheelan. He actually passed forward and rarely lost possession. To be fair.. against the better teams.. i can see Wheelan and Jedinak working in a 4231. One has the aerial ability.. Jedinak.. wins it.. gives it to Wheelan and he can get the ball to the attacking 3-4. Against weaker sides.. i would prefer Hourihane or Lansbury.. although not too impressed with Lansbury this pre season.

Fans are fickle. Tottenham suddenly have lots of fans in China as they finish top 2 a few times. Will take a while but you never know.

So when Wheelan is ruled out for the season in game 1.. who will you pick? Madness. We need two. When Jedinak was out last season.. we struggled badly.. We had to move Lansbury and Hourihane deeper. No thanks. Keep them both.

As an Aussie. Ive seen alot of Irvine. I like him but he doesnt suit our side. We need a more creative player.. who can controll the ball and keep possession under pressure. Hes more of a Cahill.. late into the box.. no frills player who works hard. We have Bikir who will probably do a similar job.

If we can get 5-6 million.. id cut our losses and bring in another striker. Hes similar too Hogan anyway.. We need a big lad who can hold up the ball. Basically need to find another Benteke

I see no other reason why he wouldnt get more game time. Probably doesnt like how he isnt disciplined and ventures forward.

this. A bit concerned how we have yet to address our goal scoring problems. Its not going to change over night with who we have. We need a left winger and attacking midfielder. Starting ones.

Feel like hes building a decent side there now.. Stockdale Ndoye Downing Elphick Roberts.. Rather Downing than Elmo.. This may be the most competitive we have seen Birmingham in a while .

I really really rate this kid.. but he was diabolical in that last game. He lost the ball almost every time he got it.. Was all down to his decision making.. when to run.. when to pass.. when to cross etc. Decision making will improve with game time.

i hope none of them know about these forums!! Although going by their form/confidence... wouldnt suprise me if they did!
