    Snow Watch!

Do you mean enough snow to fill a shed or an amount typical of a load shed from the back of a lorry? Edit: That was an excellent thread. What thread would that be? :winkold: Whoops, I'm off topic. There is snow outside my house. (Fixed).

    Snow Watch!

It's quite a walk from Barnes Hill to Northfield; did you mean Bell Hill (top of Shenley Lane on the immediate approach to Northfield town centre? Walking back to Bartley Green (with bags) must have been knackering!

    Snow Watch!

I'm confident the UK has worked out the cost of rarely being 'snowed in' against the additional cost of equipment which would sit idle for 99% of an average year. 2010 has been a bad year (January and now) but I can remember many years of little or even no snow. Also, as I mentioned before, much of keeping a country mobile is down to individuals fitting winter/snow tyres; something us Brits won't pay for on the off chance they'll be needed in the UK.

    Snow Watch!

mmm... I'm sure countries who have this weather more often than the UK do cope better on most occasions although I did hear on the radio about a guy who spent two hours travelling just a few miles to Stockholm airport only to find it was shut because of snow. Also many individuals in 'snowy' countries swap to winter tyres which keep their vehicles moving; how many Brits go to that expense? If the UK spent a billion pounds more on infrastructure to cope better with snow and it didn't snow badly for a couple of years, can you imagine the Daily Mail / Daily Express style uproar?

    Snow Watch!

Here in Lickey End (between Bromsgrove and the Lickey Hills) we've got between 20 and 25 cm (8 to 10 inches, in old money) and over 40cm in corner drifts. It took a Peugeot 206 5 minutes to get past our house at 10 am when there was less than 10 cm. Nothing has come past in over 5 hours since! The forecast is more snow and no thaw for days so I'm glad we are stocked up with food and alcohol! The kids are having a great time outside and I'm on VT whilst watching Top Gear on Dave and looking forward to a great night 'in'. Happy days!
  8. If I didn't have my three season tickets I would need to buy 57 individual league game tickets at additional expense and hassle. Where is the sense in that?
  9. I doubt it! More likely to be looking forward to the overtime.
  10. Hopefully the referee will realise this match is not part of the NFL franchise.
  11. Bannan might be shorter than average but he is an adult; you know?!

Its Marvin! The paranoid... er... radio.
  13. It is possible such a massive deal was agreed/sanctioned/in place a week or so earlier (whilst MON was still at the club). I don't understand why this is so hard for some to understand. Yes, The General hasn't told us this was the case though, so we've left the question - but please don't enter debate with other posters in this thread. Ta. The Mods
  14. General, Could the club submit a written request to Birmingham City Council for an answer to the points rationally put by by villan_avfc and terrytini, in this thread above? Unless the Council’s answer is logical enough to be publicly available, may I suggest our club appeal against the Council's lack of impartiality? I'm sure there is a place for recourse to their uneven-handedness. I’m not denying the rules as they stand, just questioning the Council’s prejudice in enforcing penalties. Does our club genuinely believe the Council provides a ‘level playing field’ when it would appear to all others that the Council enjoys ‘taking the piss’?
  15. League games against them have to be at midday on Police instruction. Why would a league cup game be different? Do the reasons for a midday kick-off magically disappear? :?
  16. They don't. We've been joint winners for the last two seasons.
  17. Heard the same (about 30 years ago!), except the last child says in a 'mongy'* voice "Why am I called Anvil?". * not a word I would use now.
  18. For decades some 'nick-names' have been used with venom and hatred so it's no wonder why they are now classed as derogatory. I'd imagine that if everyone who spoke my actual name did so with hatred in their voice, I'd eventually hate my own name as a word! Other 'nick-names' have been used with neutrality or even warmth and tend to be still acceptable. I have no idea where 'Lebo' sits in this though!
  19. Honestly, I fear the day when the Sty might overtake us in attendances. So you use a statement that the sty had half the attendance of Villa Park for a similar match, as a reason to fear that they might overtake our attendances? :?
  20. Yup. It's a lack of professionalism, really. Don't call a press conference until it's all ready. If you have to, release a statement saying there are still negotiations going on and you'll say more in due course. It would have been a pain to have to wait, but at least it wouldn't be this mess. Either way there would still be some that said "WTF is going on" whilst most accept that everything will be sorted in the near future.
