  1. ...he was also in the car with diana. That's strange. I heard he stuck his foot out when it went past. james milner is so superhuman that all three of these stories are true. It's funny because it's true.

  3. That's so stereotypical! :x Didn't you know they've moved on to two minutes as a standard. :winkold: The perfect result tonight IMO.
  4. I haven't read through the 17 pages of this thread, so this has probably been written already: Isn't there a massive gap between hero and flop which Angel surely falls into? If hero is 10 (Mortimer, Cowans, God) and flop is 1 (Bosko Balaban), I would rate Angel at 6.3. Ish!
  5. General, I wish yourself, Randy and all the other hard workers at Villa, a very merry Christmas. May all your family and friends be happy and healthy. Here's to 6 points against Arsenal and Hull, then a great 2009!
  6. And Bolton won those two away games quite convincingly, 1-3 and 1-4!! Maybe it's something that could be discussed and considered, General? I believe the General has answered similar requests recently along the lines of targeting money elsewhere at the current time.
  7. General, I think most fans appreciate the importance of protecting the pitch at Villa Park. Reserve games have been played at Walsall's Bescot stadium for this reason. The big difference is that, taking Villa Park as the average starting point, Bescot is a 14 mile round trip and Hinckley is 61 miles! It would appease some fans if the club explained why the games are being played so far away. I'm guessing that the club has done it's best to find a venue that is: available for the dates; has a decent quality playing surface; has suitable facilities; is affordable. However, without a statement to this effect, some fans are left scratching their heads or even annoyed. Just a minor matter in our mission to conquer Europe again, but as a successful British company states...'every little helps'.
  8. General, 1) Do you ever wish that some questions and statements that are put to you on this thread had more respect in their content? 2) With reference to the reserve team playing four 'home' games at Hinckley United's ground, if the official website had explained the reason for playing away from Villa Park and that unfortunately the closest suitable venue available was 30 miles away, it may have helped. Adding a 'why not come and see us' aimed at Villa fans to the East of our region would also seem more welcoming.
  9. General, in response, 1. If ever there was a time to appreciate your great work at our club, it is your latest post at what must be a difficult time for you and your family. Glad to here your father is battling all the way and looks great in the Villa away kit! 2. I'd like to think our win tonight could be dedicated to your father's continued fighting spirit. Best wishes to you all.
  10. Thank you for reminding us all that there is more to life than Villa's latest result or waiting 10 minutes for a pint or a burger. I hope you find your father in better health.
  11. Great to see, General. 8) Thanks for the prices on the forthcoming UEFA games. It can't be easy to calculate how to attract as many fans as possible whilst maximising revenue. I think these prices are just right. I hope the club is rewarded with at least 40k and 30k against Ajax and Zilina, respectively. While I'm here, on another site I asked - Does Randy ever thank you for your continued efforts? Knowing that money isn't the factor (being unpaid, not that you are rich), what motivates you to keep performing in your position at Villa?
  12. General, This evening, I happened to catch a few minutes of a radio programme broadcast across the UK by BBC Radio 5. There was a discussion regarding the state of the game and the serious concern over 'foreign' ownership and club debt. I heard all the contributors’ state "with the exception of Randy Lerner..." on a few occasions. As a long time servant you will be aware that one of the biggest dangers to a happy marriage is complacency and taking each other for granted. To date, Randy has shown no sign of this in his relationship with our club and its fans. I hope and believe this will remain the case for as long as Randy is with us. Unfortunately it will inevitably be harder for many fans to remain faithful 100% of the time. On to my questions. No matter how long term, has Randy ever talked to you about his exit strategy? Is Max being coached well?
  13. I found this in the John Carew Carew thread. My sense tells me that it was supposed to be on this thread.
  14. I hope you are keeping well, General. During half time on Sunday, my family and other season card holders around me in K5 took a good look around us and at our view of the other stands. We all commented that Villa Park was looking great. A fresh coat of paint in places, all very clean and no advertisement boards covering our beloved claret and blue. Subsequently a thread was started regarding the lack of advertisements. Some fans have posted that it is a deliberate act by Randy to make the stadium look a bit classier. Others have suggested taking dozens of boards away will enable a premium to be gained on a few that may re-appear (I'm not so sure this makes business sense, but it's not my business!). I suppose it could always be both reasons and Villa Park would still look better than last season. Can you cast any light on Randy's/the club's thinking on this issue?
  15. So if the right price is £18m (as set by his current employer) and Liverpool only off £15m, you would be happy for him to stay? You are not alone in saying "I just want rid" but it would be interesting what Villa fans think is an acceptable price - £12m, £14m, £16m??? In my opinion, Barry will not want to lose his England place and will still give 100% to Villa, so we should stick to £18m. If we do, it will take a massive climb down from Liverpool FC for Barry to join them.
  16. I think some people are making more of Barry's fitness than needs to be. He will have trained all summer (picture Alex Black riding a bike along side a jogging Barry!). As for match sharpness, Barry looked the part at Villa Park a couple of weeks back. Even on a hot day he didn't flag. As wrong as it is, Liverpool FC will not be held accountable for this episode. The Premier League are too weak against the $ky 4.
  17. Seconded. General, can you please pass on the appreciation, from what I'm sure will be a majority of fans, to whoever recommended/approved these prices? Does Randy have the final say or would he have given total authority to someone else and been told "we are charging £10 for the game"?
  18. General, Please don't think that we are all like those you have had cause to reply to in your last two posts. Whilst the Barry saga is disappointing and it does appear to most that Villa were a little unwise to put so much trust in Barry/Black, many fans seem to have forgotten how resolute Villa have been over Barry's value to the club. Can I trust that this will continue and that Barry/Black/Liverpool FC will not be successful in making Barry's position untenable in order to drive down the price? If I remember correctly, during the previous two summer transfer windows, there were many fans who predicted doom and gloom in the forthcoming season, only to keep quiet about their comments when we improved by five places in successive seasons. Along with nearly all fans, I am currently concerned about the forthcoming season with the squad we currently have. However, I am fully aware that this transfer window is still wide open and still hope we could do well within it. This was always going to be the toughest stage so far in our 5 year plan, catch 22 almost. I would imagine that, whilst not giving up yet on his plan A targets, MON is now busy working on his plan B targets. Whoever falls in to each target group, I don't mind (MON knows more than me about a players ability to add to our team). It would be great if we could get 3 of each group before 31/8! I'm sure that you have faced far tougher opposition than several fans on internet forums. I do hope that your frustration does not get you down. A message to everyone, try harder to keep the faith!
  19. General, As our direct contact with the club and it's staff, will you please pass on my comment to Gareth Barry that the latest underhand actions of him, and his agent, disgust me. I don't care if it means nothing to him, just please pass a fan's message on. Can you tell us what Randy, a man with integrity, thinks of this situation? Also, what could Randy and MON have learnt from this situation?
  20. General, If I may, a genuine, upfront question for you: Are you out of the Randy/MON loop on the deadline statement or were you speaking as 'if' you didn't know whether there was a hidden 'out' from the club's deadline statement, you could understand why some people don't believe it's all over?
  21. In order that the General can compare like for like: I am also a season card holder who chose to buy from the club shop at Villa Park. As a season card holder I received a 10% discount, so I paid £40.50 (YorkshireCoop why did you pay £45? :? ). I also received a free Villa boot bag, kit bag and wallet, priced at £14 (YorkshireCoop, didn't you receive these freebies?). To be honest I would value the freebie stuff at half the marked price, worth £7. This gives a comparable shirt cost to any of our 26,000 season ticket holders of £33.50. This is 50p cheaper than the Leeds shop and even if you have no use for the freebies (kid's etc.) at least all the money goes to our club. General, you have mentioned that the buying power of sports shops enables them to get a better trade price for the kit. I am surprised that even with the club expecting to sell over 50,000 shirts directly, the difference to non season card holders, who don't want the freebies, is £11. Whilst acknowledging the need to raise revenue, the club must be loosing sales to other outlets with this price differential. For future seasons, would the club consider halving the difference and selling at £40 (£36 to season card holders)? I'm sure the club would benefit from a lot more direct shirt sales since hardly any season card holders would buy elsewhere for a difference of £2. I still chose to buy direct from the club, but if YorkshireCoop forgot to use his season card discount and didn't get the freebies he must be kicking himself.
