  1. eurvision so far, had a couple of polish ones this evening ( not okocim, a more unpronounceable one ) then two brahmas, and now on a vratislaz from czech land, will probably go for a peroni or duvel next. Might save duvel mind, as im having a few tonight and duvel might kill me.
  2. It was terrific - really good to see them taking that storyline somewhere for a change.
  3. just watched the final of House 5 now. What an amazing episode. This season has finished really strongly, its rare to yell COME ON SEASON 6 for a show, but goddammit I need House. Easily rivals West Wing as my most beloved US show. ( I must note I have not seen the wire yet, but my friends effusive priase of it, will no doubt see that rectified eventually )
  4. General, regarding ticketing schemes, owing to financial issues, I've attended just one game this season, which rather unfortunately was the 2-2 with stoke. I usually only attend 4-5 a year anyway for practical + financial reasons, but even then I was targeting the £10 games. Would you bel able to say now or not if there are to be more games at this price? When I factor in travel costs I can justify it at £10 a ticket. The £33 for the Stoke one definitely stretched it, and I was grateful when my accompanying father reimbursed me! - As I can't in any way count on such generosity every time I attend - I sincerely hope that next season there will be at least a few games at that level ( and not just the early rounds in Europe ) I do understand the comparison to other clubs, but in general I do have more than a slight gripe with sporting costs - when in comparison to other forms of entertainment - ie theatre / concerts which are generally more justifiable given their infrequent nature. If I had to pay £30 to see 20 + of the same U2 concert I would feel a tad ripped off ( though that would rather my fault for seeing U2, but I hope the point is still valid ). Up the Villa
  5. to just getting in and reading the bbc headline and subsequent first few lines of the report: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: :crylaugh: karma has rarely played itself out so beautfully in football.
  6. i would think the incentive of promotion might put that form nonsene out the window with luck
  7. garbage half so far. victory for anti-football and the chelski lot. Come on Barca getting their act together and dismissing these boring **** asap.
  8. today I had a bottle of Waggle Dance for lunch and then a Hobgoblin just now. Tasty enough
  9. Just got this: "Congratulations! You have won a pair of tickets to see NOFX at O2 Academy Birmingham tomorrow night (24/04/09)" Dunno if I can be bothered to go, I mean I love NOFX, but I've seen them a ton of times, but free tickets, but then it's the academy which means I'll end up spending like £50 on half a pint of shandy... and what sort of notice is one day? you see, for me, I only saw them once and that was before I knew who they were and caught them halfway through at Reading. Once I got into them I did wish I'd been more aware sooner! I have a week to decide. At only a tenner though I am leaning to going, its a fortunately a friday so I should be able to encourage other attendees!

    Do you read?

I've had WHite Jazz for a while but it is very heavy and really immerses you in it but I can never finish it. But LA Confidential does remain one of my all time favourite films.
  11. there's a NOFX gig in Cardiff coming up in a week or so, still mulling whether to go. Haven't been to a gig since Reading 07 I think which is truy shocking, but I need to convince others to join.
  12. Randy. We are a club who should be capable of competing in that top 5,6,7. Investment to bring us back to those levels was key. Any manager stuck with disproportionate levels of funding was going to struggle. With investment in training facilities and players plus the lack of serious competition barring Everton in the past two seasons due to spurs newcastle etc, being a joke, finishing top 6 twice is minimum acceptable really. If we didn't finish 6th - you'd have to ask how and why and who beat us? Spurs who started with 2 pts from 8 games? Would be awful if they'd have overtaken us. Fulham West Ham, Wigan - with their budgets? . Man City could have made a challenge but their manager has proven himself remarkably incompetent. Newcastle were their usual hilarious selves. He has steered us into this place without too great a challenge in my view. Last season we edged out Blackburn by a mere one point. I do not mean to disrespect Martin - he clearly has ability. He is a great motivator, and until the past couple of months has generally seen us well motivated - he has done his job and he has met his targets. Has he exceeded them? No trophies - not to be expected - but thus no exceeding in that quarter. Cup runs - awful in the league cup, draw screws us over in the FA Cup agian - not his fault on that score... and Europe... well what can I say. In fairness, it is our first season juggling the extra demands and this must be taken into account. However many players brought in - it still requires experience and practice - but much of that practice has been given to our fringe players. Prioritising is natural and understandable... writing off games is unacceptable. IThe top 4 can - in part because their fans have seen success, have seen cup wins and have seen titles and can thus accept that occasionally some cups have to go by the wayside. WE HAVE NOT WON A CUP IN 13 YEARS ( anyone rebutting this with the intertoto, whilst being technically correct is also a facetious idiot ) and thus, given our squads capabilities until then, it hurt to see us write off this chance. It may have been a gamble - but since then we haven't won any game at all. The league then - first season - given some investment, and by virtue of not being miserable, his skills as a motivator - whilst including a 20 game winless streak lets not forget - saw us claim mid table comfort. Expectations met - aided by a brilliant January with the arrival of fan favourites Carew and Ashley Young. 2nd season - wonderful, football, plenty of goals, and excitement as we made a genuine push for europe, faltering in march ( again ) but still responding at the end to finish a creditable 6th. It was our target and we met it. Exceeded? Well, it depends here on your aims for that year. With the summer investment, pushing on from 11th and aiming to be in the mix was I'm sure uppermost in most if not all of our minds. Top 5 would have been a harsh expectation, but I tihnk 6th was reasonable - it was still upper limits mind, so I'll be generous and say he did a touch better than expected. 3rd season - expectations ( realistically ) to establish ourselves as a top 6 side and possibly make a challenge for greater things, but really top 5 would be great. We are on course to meet that. However, one could also argue that expectations developed as the season unfolded. Sometimes opportunities arise and must be taken advantage off - or at least to put yourself in the optimum position to TRY and take advantage. With other rivals failing and suffering with injury - there was a real possibility we could gatecrash the top 4. I think many of us, see the subsequent collapse as pretty rotten, and from a personal perspective, avoidable. The degree to which we have collapsed is shameful, brought on in part, by inflexibility with respect to tactics, and for too long arsing about with square pegs in round holes. January needed more investment than just one forward ( although he has done a decent job, in spite of some abusive fans claims ). If we put ourselves for the sake of argument as finishing 5th with more or less the same points tally as last year, it's again on target. He has done his job on the whole well, making mistakes in the process. On the evidence thus far, it is up to debate as to whether he will advance us further. At any rate though he certainly deserves the opportunity to rectify them for another season or two. Sorry, far longer than anticipated and I must dash now to catch my bus, but on this basis Randy is certainly the more key figure here. ttfn
  13. agreed. If one request is adhered to, you'll just get pedantic chaps like myself demanding similar levels of recognition for all fringe beliefs and non beliefs too.
  14. Yes but he still has work to do - in the transfer market I am not confident and I think he has a penchant occasionally for not changing a losing team soon enough, but on the whole he has done a good solid job. Can he take us to the next level? He deserves the opportunity to try for the next couple of seasons.
  15. what the hell are bots btw and what do they do? greetings appegalge

    Kasabian

so bad, I'd rather listen to The Automatic on repeat all day.
  17. so lies, deceipt and incompetence justify the end result?
  18. Funny the same is said over Jim Davidson .......... I suppose it whatever floats your boat really. Worth saying again odious word removed I think that comparison is flawed personally I would suggest that Clarkson if he ever offered up a serious viewpoint would be far more measured than the persona he presents, whereas Davidson is just an utter cock fullstop with no redeeming features at all, who actually believes everything he says. for me clarkson is a permanent wind up merchant, entertaining and intelligent, and has a pasison for what he does. I believe he doesn't hate the environment, but just enjoys mocking the sanctimony of some of the furious greens. Must be taken in doses, otherwise you'd get sick of it quickly, tohugh not exactly his fault Dave play him on perma repeat!
  19. tried weed occasionally did bugger all for me. I don't really move in any of the other druggy circles so opportunities haven't arisen though I've always fanced a trippy one of sorts, I can imagine, tripping out on a golden summers day would be awesome. But generally, despite the fact I drink too much and dont do enough exercise Im always worried about the health - an overreaction possibly and a sign that incessant WARNINGS have, despite their sensationalised twisting of the stats creeped in not so much of a miserable bastard or a sanctimonious clearing in the woods to care whether others do.
  20. indeed I think we need a tax on all these Polls. A poll tax if you will. might be controversial though :s
  21. Homer definitely. Simpsons in its early days was awesome. Still like Family Guy alot, but it can grate.
