I think this is an error? If we finish 6th and win the conference league, we don't get into the champions league. Brighton can get in by winning the Europa.

Well this is it isn't it? You either think we were playing OK or you don't. I definitely don't. We handed them control...the very thing Unai says he wants all the time. Spurs can score but they can't defend. We should have gone at these and scored more than them. Again though, I think it's Emery worried about our legs being gone. Not necessarily he "got it wrong". He just felt he had to play this way. Hopefully not and we'll be back at it on Thursday.

It was the formation, and the performance within it. My concern is Unai thinks the legs have gone and that's why he played that way. You don't go at City only to stand off Spurs. Concerning.

Stunned at the amount saying definite red. Stunned. It's barely even borderline red. Today there's been 3 worse challenges in the other games and none were a red.

Now you're getting it. Konsa and Watkins (and Engels ) obviously came from Smith fwiw. He can have some credit for signing a clearly very very good Kamara on £150k a week if you like, yes.

Agree. We don't have too many strong players in the air at the moment. Needs to be taken into account with all our upcoming signings. We've tried Kamara and Torres and Lenglet and Konsa as blockers and markers on the main threats of the opposition, and the effort is there, but they're at a physical disadvantage. Watkins is probably our best and he usually takes up the important front post area and clears 95% of anything reachable. We're just short in this area. Emery came into the club not knowing McPhee. And he's still here. So he must be impressed with something. Presumably a sensible understanding that there's work going in but nothing we do is going to mean we Doug Luiz will be leaping above 6' 4" opponents to power headers clear. The work will continue. Improvement will be sought and demanded across the board. Emery will take action with the coaches if he thinks it's an issue there. We know this.

Utd aren't an issue. They'll lose at Brentford or Chelsea this month. More points means Ten Hag more likely to be stay so it's an overall positive.

I don't think we have to sell anyone to survive. We're probably close to the sell to buy territory though. There's no way we buy Rogers and Ned for over £20m if we're right on the brink.

Reasonable but not indisputable as you said. The chances we never again see Pau play the position he's played every single competitive game for us so far is 0%. We will see him as one of two main centre halves, with routine full backs at times. Players will need to adapt and play different roles. Glad to see you back interested in Villa.

Basing your thinking on some pre-season halves isn't wise. It's an option. It's not the singular way we will play all the time and every transfer will be built round. I also don't think we'll be signing up a Hermoso type player on well over £125k a week to be "back-up".
