  1. To be fair a lot of the bt sport coverage of the match today was about the poor attitude of the players
  2. I don't blame him. If you were picked to play for Aston Villa week in week out you would jump at the chance. However he is horrifically bad, utterly pointless and should never have been signed and certainly should have been rejected by now and yet he is still here being picked by manager after manager. Why can't they see it? New contract was nearly as criminal as Gobbies. And yes does take one of the worst corners in professional football and don't get me started on his shooting
  3. He still drives me nuts when he runs forward into loads of space then comes to a standstill as soon as he meets the first defender killing all momentum . Keep wishing he would keep going and try to make things happen. It's OK to stop and wait for the overlap or midfield runner as a bit of variation but not to keep doing it constantly
  4. Yeah typical Villa shooting themselves in the foot again. Gabs would have eaten those shocking Chelsea defenders for breakfast......... Literally
  5. Yes a special kind of idiot. Michael Carroll won £10m and 9 years later was working in a biscuit factory. He was no brain of Britain but I bet when someone tapped him on the shoulder he didn't turn around 10 mins later. Also he had to work quickly and develop an instant entourage without a 10 year career to develop and highly tone it, probably made a few mistakes along the way with some people genuinely trying to help him before they realised that he was a total knob beyond hope of redemption. . Gabbys "mates" are all in place now planning the next trip. Probably Vegas with free tabs all round I expect
  6. Just seen a post on another forum about how we will all laugh when Gabs is a pauper having frittered away all his money and do you know what this wouldn't surprise me at all. He is clearly brain dead and seems to have an entourage of hangers on who I bet will be more than happy to bleed him dry. Just wait for the story to hit in the future. The next Michael Carroll anyone?
  7. Whoever sanctioned his extension should be shot by John Gregory
  8. I am sorry but clubs really ought to be able to cancel players contracts when they are doing things like this. He is paid obscene amounts of money to put out onto the pitch a highly tuned, 100% fit body to the best of his ability and by abusing his health and fitness in my opinion he is not fulfilling his contractual obligations but there never seems to be any consequences once they have signed the dotted line. It's immorrall really the football authorities need to start leaning on players now. They are all made for life after half a season playing it's not like the old days where it was a short career so they needed some protection from bullying powerful clubs. Makes me sick when you think of all the sh!t that everyday people have to put up with at work for a tiny fraction of the money they earn and if they step out of line it is farewell
  9. A nice stock answer there
  10. It's so bizarre. He is surely more accountable than anyone else in the whole of the old regime for getting us to where we are now but is the only one still here. Surely he should have been first out of the door!
  11. Hairy muff, but then I see your Bosko Balaban and raise you an Olof Mellberg. To be fair though I think he signed Olof off the back of a great video tape.......
  12. They should have been cheap temporary fixes during the cutbacks and by now shipped out and upgraded but instead we mysteriously offered them new contracts. Quite ridiculous. Once again a false economy as upgrades would have paid for themselves with higher league finishes but the cheap option taken will cost us millions in relegation. If they had been upgraded sooner instead of using the benteke money on a new midfield we could have bought a couple of £15m strikers
  13. I always remember a TV interview with John Gregory where he threw some player video tapes in the bin. Clearly a man who knew what he was about
  14. I really don't see what the problem is here. Actually WATCHING players play football is so last century. We are now living in the moneyball Era. These guys can kick back behind their laptops analyzing players stats whilst chucking another tinny on the barby next to the pool and pick up a champions league winning team for a couple of million In fact my 13 year old picks up some frankly unbelievable bargains on FIFA. we may was well ditch the whole scouting system and employ a couple of teenagers with a Playstation. It's that easy really. Would have saved Randy his £30M losses per annum for the same top quality result anyway Come on Randy, you know it's the way forward
  15. Remember Pearson built the chapel, the following managers paint it and tidy it.'
  16. Well still no news. Can we assume our highly professional friends in the press are full of sh!t and just make stuff up?
  17. I am unconvinced Gestade will do it for us next year either. His good season with Blackburn is very much his only season of scoring goals. I think we spent a load of money on a one season wonder.
  18. I am not much of a Sun reader myself so wouldn't know much about how their editorials might go but I am sure that if I were to Google nitrous oxide to give it its proper name I would probably turn up a load of catering supplies websites but as I was trying to find links to a young footballer abusing said gas I would have thought that it's more sensationalist nickname of hippy crack would be the search to go for?
  19. Well this is completely wrong isn't it? Surely his management record is actually very good and in fact seems almost a specialist in halting a decline and turning it into promotion or near promotion! Looking at his record I actually think he might be what we need as long as we pay him off and thank him on promotion back to the PL
  20. I think he needs to be played for the rest of the season to see what he can do. All of our other midfielders are shot and I want them all gone. Hopefully Jack will show us a repeat of what he had last season and prove he can be an enormous part of next year's championship winning side. . It is a good point though. Lots of people excusing his actions as normal for his age and questioning why he should be a saint but try googling Dele Ali drunk or on hippy Crack and you will draw a blank. It does not necessarily follow but I am sure it can only help a young footballer trying to find his very highest level if they sacrifice the hedonistic lifestyle and I am 100% certain that it will detract from their career if they embrace it.
  21. I don't think he will do it in the championship next year either. He is utterly awful and only had 1 good year with Blackburn he has done nothing before. I reckon he was a one season wonder and can't see him doing it for us next year.
  22. I really don't see it with him. I think he is every bit as awful as the others. He can go with Gill and Veretout and Westwood and Guzman etc. Constantly hanging onto the ball too long. Always making the wrong decision. Standing around watching the game when someone needs closing down. Poor shooting. No heading ability. People hoping he will come good but is just yet another reason why we are one of the worst premier league teams ever
  23. Sorry he is just awful. A complete waste of space and money. Desperately hope he goes in the summer and we can get some kind of fee for him
  24. Brilliant news. Hopefully some of the advice he will dish out to the board will be things like "OK so we are buying a one trick pony in Rudy Gestade. Now who are we going to buy next to feed his one trick" and "Why are we spending a huge slice of our budget on a young untried Barcelona reserve who MIGHT be one for the future when we are up sh!t creek without a paddle NOW" You know that kind of advice
